FX has canceled the Deadpool animated series.
“Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series,” FX in a statement. “FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue.”
The Deadpool animated series received a 10-episode straight-to-series order last May and was supposed to premiere this year on FX Networks’ comedy-focused FXX.
The report makes mention it is unknown if Marvel TV will continue to pursue the project either with or without the Glovers.
Donald and Stephen Glover are signed to an exclusive deal with FX, which would mean if the pair are still attached, that the Deadpool animated series would need to air on FOX TV, as Donald and Stephen Glover are/were attached to the project as showrunners, executive producers and writers of the Deadpool animated series.
Obviously if the Glover brothers are dropped, then the Deadpool animated series could be shopped elsewhere.
The Deadpool animated series, described as an adult comedy, was not going to be related to the Ryan Reynolds movies.
