Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Brings the Klassics Back to PS5, PS4

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection has officially been announced, and it’s everything longtime fans have been asking for.

Revealed during Sony’s latest State of Play, the collection comes from Digital Eclipse and brings a blood-soaked batch of classic Mortal Kombat titles to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2025.

Check out the details and watch the official trailer below.

The Kollection: What’s Included

Digital Eclipse is known for reviving classic games with polish and respect, and Legacy Kollection follows suit. You’re getting the original arcade and home versions of the best Mortal Kombat games from the 1990s and early 2000s, complete with online multiplayer powered by rollback netcode.

Confirmed titles so far:

  • Mortal Kombat (1992) – Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear
  • Mortal Kombat II (1993) – Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X
  • Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) – Arcade, SNES, Genesis
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) – Arcade, SNES
  • Mortal Kombat 4 (1997) – Arcade
  • Mortal Kombat Advance (2001) – Game Boy Advance
  • Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002) – Game Boy Advance
  • Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (2003) – Game Boy Advance

And that’s just what they’re showing for now. More games—and secrets—are still under wraps.

Flawless Online Kombat

You’ll be able to throw down online across multiple versions, including vintage 16-bit console editions. Want to pull off Scorpion’s “GET OVER HERE!” in the Genesis version of MK1 online? Go for it. Even the infamous blood code will be activated automatically (but you can still type it in yourself if you remember it).

More Than Just Games

Like Tetris Forever and Atari 50, this isn’t just a game bundle, it’s an interactive documentary. Digital Eclipse has teamed up with Area 5 (creators of Grounded II) to produce a full suite of behind-the-scenes content:

  • Interviews with co-creators Ed Boon and John Tobias
  • Commentary from developers, actors, and fans
  • Never-before-seen concept art, prototypes, and motion-capture footage
  • Interactive timelines and digital exhibits

Think of it as walking through a Mortal Kombat museum—except you can also uppercut someone into a pit while you’re at it.

Fatal Secrets (For Now)

The developers are teasing that even more content is on the way. Expect additional titles, secrets, and maybe even some long-lost materials to be revealed in the months ahead.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection launches later in 2025.
