What are the details?
The details include Batman #1 will launch in September by the creative team of writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jiménez, with colors by Tomeu Morey and lettering by Clayton Cowles.
Fraction, Jimenez, Morey, and Cowles will kick off their run in September with a series of interconnected yet standalone stories. Each issue promises a fresh adventure, a distinct style, and a new challenge for Batman crafted by the creative team.

âI wouldnât be here if it wasnât for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read,â said Fraction at the event. âJorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman. Weâve got a new Batmobile, weâve got a new costume, weâve got new characters, and weâve got a lot of old ones tooâgood and bad; all the stuff that makes Batman the coolest character in comics. We want to celebrate it all.â

âAs a DC artist, I have to say this is something Iâve always dreamed of, and getting to do it alongside someone as amazing and talented as Matt is just incredible for me,â said JimĂ©nez. âAs for my work on Batman, the artistic side, Iâve poured years of hard work into this series. Over time, Iâve had to adapt to different styles and paces alongside James and Chip, learning and enjoying every step of the way. Iâve explored Gotham City from multiple angles, but more importantly, Iâve gradually built up more and more artistic tools that have led me to the current synthesis of my style.â

âFor this new chapter, weâre crafting a revamped aesthetic, bringing back Batmanâs blue suit in a definitive way,â continued JimĂ©nez. âItâs a small shift meant to feel both classic and fresh, subtly evolving while staying true to the original design weâve used in recent years. At the same time, Iâm working on Gotham Cityâs visual identity, giving it a fresh approach that sets it apart from my previous takes. Iâm aiming for a slight pop influence, something that subtly nods to classic stories while keeping the dark and ominous feel of contemporary Batman.â

âPart of the reason Batman has lasted as long and has resonated as loudly as he has as character is that heâs incredibly resilient,â added Fraction. âHe can be all kinds of things to all different people all at the same time â whether thatâs in the comics or in animation or in movies.â

What is the new costume?
Batman will have a new blue and gray costume, a new Bat Symbol, a new Batmobile, and the series will usher in a new look for Gotham City.
