The shills be shilling as it’s claimed that James Gunn’s Superman has passed Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel at the domestic box office.
The shills are acting like it’s a win in a desperate attempt to make Gunn’s Superman look better than it really is, but as I told you, James Gunn’s Superman is coming nowhere near Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
Following Superman‘s big drop in weekend three, it’s now looking like Gunn’s Superman won’t EVER pass Snyder’s Man of Steel WITHOUT even counting inflation.
It actually makes you wonder what the point of the DCU reboot was if it can’t do better, eh?
What’s going on?
So the shills love to compare numbers to numbers, meaning the 2025 numbers of Superman to the 2013 numbers of Man of Steel.
However, as I said, you have to factor in inflation, as it’s been 12 years.
Gunn’s Superman is currently around $292 million domestically. Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel finished with $291,045,518 back in 2013. So the shills are acting like it’s a big victory.
However, in today’s dollars, that $291,045,518 is really $402,992,540.82. Tickets at the time also didn’t cost around $20, but were a third of that. So that goes to show you how many more fans watched Snyder’s Man of Steel than Gunn’s Superman.
Man of Steel also brought in $379,100,000 from foreign markets. In today’s dollars that’s over half a billion dollars — $524,916,079.36.
Gunn’s Superman is only at $214,100,000, internationally. It won’t even beat Man of Steel without inflation.
Likewise, Superman saw a big 57.5% drop in weekend three. It’s now looking like Superman will come nowhere near Snyder’s Man of Steel, which finished with $670,145,518 worldwide. Adjusted for inflation, that’s nearly a billion dollars — $927,908,620.18.
Superman is currently at around $506.5M worldwide.
Zack Snyder wins.
