Nova Gets Marvel Comics ‘Imperial’ One Shot

With it looking like Richard Rider is headed to the MCU, the character is finally getting what appears to be a decent amount of build-up in the Marvel Comics with the new Imperial event.

Marvel Comics has announced Jed MacKay and Jonathan Hickman will be writing Imperial War: Nova – Centurion #1, with art by Matteo Della Fonte.

The first issue of Imperial kicked off last week and is basically Game of Thrones in space. I thought it was just okay. I’m not really a Hickman fan, and the art was kind of a mess, as it was something like a cross between American comics art and Manga. That doesn’t really work for cosmic, IMO. That said, it did show more promise than anything we’ve gotten from Marvel Cosmic in the past ten years or so.

I also wish they would ditch Nova wearing that jacket. I mean, it’s fine if he’s hanging out in a bar or something wearing a jacket, but they have the jacket on Nova all the time, and it looks goofy tucked into his gauntlets like that. He doesn’t need a jacket to keep him warm or anything, the suit does that.
