Spider-Man: Brand New Day Scores Best Presales In Five Years — Even Without IMAX

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Scores Best Presales In Five Years — Even Without IMAX

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is off to a record-breaking start at the box office before a single ticket is torn.

Per Deadline, the Tom Holland sequel has posted the best first-day presales of any movie in five years, and the strongest of 2026 so far.

The last time a film drove presales like this was Spider-Man: No Way Home, which racked up an estimated $78 million in advance sales before its December 2021 release and went on to post the second-best domestic opening ever at $260.1 million.

Deadline notes Brand New Day‘s first-day presales also top 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which opened to $187.4 million.

The presales surge follows the first tracking numbers, which already showed Brand New Day topping the entire summer slate in audience interest.

Record Presales — Without IMAX

What makes the figure more notable is what Brand New Day is doing it without.

As we reported, the movie is opening without IMAX screens, which are committed to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and its exclusive run.

Deadline confirms the IMAX shutout, and notes it didn’t push Brand New Day off its July 31 date. The sequel is on track for a massive opening despite surrendering one of the most lucrative premium formats on its launch weekend.

The presales surge caps a huge week of marketing momentum: the new trailer confirmed Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and the villain “no one can even see,” Samsung launched its Spidey Tracker tie-in, and tickets went on sale with early Prime screenings already filling up.

How Big Could The Opening Be?

Presales are an early signal, not a final verdict, but the company Brand New Day is keeping is telling.

No Way Home‘s presale strength preceded a $260.1 million domestic bow, behind only Avengers: Endgame‘s $357.1 million at the time.

If Brand New Day is outpacing the field this early, it points to one of the biggest openings of 2026, in a year where it’s already running ahead of every other title in advance sales.
