A new behind-the-scenes sizzle reel for Red Sonja has been released, offering a deeper look at the making of the upcoming sword-and-sorcery film.
The footage features cast commentary, training sequences, and action setups led by director MJ Bassett.
Red Sonja’s Fight Begins
The video shows Matilda Lutz as Red Sonja undergoing brutal training and intense combat scenes, backed by a cast that includes Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Martyn Ford, Michael Bisping, Phillip Winchester, and Trevor Eve.
In the film, Red Sonja is captured, chained, and forced to fight for survival. She must rise from the blood-soaked fighting pits of a tyrant’s empire, rallying a band of outcasts to take down Dragan (Sheehan) and his bride, Dark Annisia (Day).
One-Night-Only Theatrical Release
Red Sonja will premiere in theaters nationwide for one night only on August 13, 2025, with digital and On Demand release following on August 29.
Who’s Behind the Film?
The production is led by Les Weldon, Yariv Lerner, Luke Lieberman, Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, Joe Gatta, MJ Basset, Jeffrey Greenstein, Avi Lerner, Mark Canton, Courtney Solomon, and Jonathan Yunger.
Executive producers include Trevor Short, Darina Pavlova, Boaz Davidson, Tanner Mobley, Dorothy Canton, Scott Karol, Heidi Jo Markel, and Luke Lieberman, who also serves as a producer and longtime steward of the character.
The script is written by Tasha Huo, known for her work on Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.
