James Gunn has responded to fan demand surrounding David Corenswet’s new Superman suit in Man of Tomorrow.
The update comes as part of responses to fans on Threads from the director that also tease Maxwell Lord’s return and offer a peek at the production’s on-set bingo.
This is part of our ongoing coverage of James Gunn's Superman sequel. Full details in our Man of Tomorrow guide.

James Gunn on Man of Tomorrow’s new Superman suit
Pressed on Threads to post a high-resolution image of Corenswet’s updated Superman costume, Gunn kept it short: “Not yet. Sorry.”
Fans have been angling for an official look since set photos began surfacing out of Atlanta, but Gunn is clearly holding the full reveal back for now.

What the set photos have shown is a noticeably tweaked suit.
The new costume appears to fit tighter to Corenswet’s frame with fewer wrinkles than the first film’s version, runs a slightly darker shade of blue, and sports a marginally larger “S” shield.
Fans have also noted Corenswet wearing his hair a touch longer this time out. It’s an evolution rather than a reinvention, but enough of a change that an official hi-res shot is one of the most requested drops of this production, especially after the reactions to the first Superman.

James Gunn teases Maxwell Lord’s DCU return
Gunn also fielded a question about Maxwell Lord, who is played by his brother, Sean Gunn.
Asked whether he knows when fans will see more of the character, he replied: “Yes, I do.”
Sean Gunn’s LordTech founder has had only brief DCU moments so far — a one-scene TV cameo in Superman, where he was revealed as the money behind the Justice Gang, and a follow-up in Peacemaker Season 2 — so confirmation that a bigger appearance is locked and dated is real news.
Where does he resurface? Gunn gave nothing away beyond confirming a plan. But the most grounded bet is Man of Tomorrow itself.
Superman framed LordTech and LexCorp as rival tech empires, with Lord positioning himself as the anti-Luthor. A sequel built around Nicholas Hoult’s Lex is the natural stage for that rivalry to pay off.
Longer term, the comics tie Lord to Justice League International, Booster Gold (script just turned in), and Wonder Woman, making those in-development projects eventual homes too.
Gunn also confirmed Creature Commandos Season 2 is “heavy in development” and said it will “most likely” be released “around 2027,” which could always be another place Maxwell Lord surfaces.
James Gunn shares Man of Tomorrow ‘Exodus Bingo’
On the lighter side, Gunn posted an onset “Exodus Bingo” card on Instagram, a nod to the film’s working title, “Exodus,” the biblical follow-up to the first movie’s “Genesis” codename.
The board is full of crew in-jokes like “Dog on set,” “Short cape,” and “James is Clint Eastwood.”
Gunn explained that last one on Threads — it’s what he says when he lands a shot in one take — and answered a “gross soda” square by posting a photo of Ranch Dressing Soda captioned “Me.”
Man of Tomorrow hits theaters July 9, 2027.
