Doom Not A Hacker In Fantastic Four Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21362:]]

Contrary to earlier rumors about the Fantastic Four movie that stated Doom is a hacker, Toby Kebbell clears the air stating it’s not true and offers the following about Doom (via SHH):

There’s no conversation about [Doom’s origins] in the film. We don’t have time to talk about me- I would love it, but we don’t have real time. Yeah, he’s still from the same place, his mother is still a gypsy and done her deals, his father still perished from exposure looking after me. He’s angry. He’s an angry dude. But now he’s in Baxter. He’s bright and he’s trying to make people proud. He found a new father in Dr. Storm, the father of Johnny and adoptive father of Sue. I kind of get adopted as well, in a fantastic performance by Reg E. Cathey. And that’s Doom as we see him. He’s a computer technician, a computer scientist. There were rumors he was a hacker or something, but no. Victor Von Doom is who we hope he will be.

No Fantastic Four Post-Credit Scene (Video)

While appearing at Comic-Con, the cast of Fantastic Four lets it be known there is no post-credit scene for the movie.

“No we don’t. There’s no post-credit sequence,” Jamie Bell confirmed, who plays The Thing.

Bell did comment that the film leaves the door wide open for a lot of different movies,” adding: “I think this movie really focuses on the origins of each character indiviually, how they get their powers, how they learn to deal with them, how they learn to harness them, how they figure out they are the strong as four than they are as individuals, and that is kind of where the movie ends, and there is so much more to go from there, and it leaves the door open.”

Fox Cancels Fantastic Four 3D Conversion

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21324:]]

It’s learned that Fox has cancelled plans to convert Fantastic Four to 3D.

Following early promotions that listed RealD 3D on the footage, it’s now been confirmed by Josh Trank that Fantastic Four will only be in 2D.

I want the viewing experience of Fantastic Four to remain as pure as possible for the audience, which means in 2D, just as we shot the movie.”

As the UK’s Final Reel notes, there was actually an earlier rumor that Fox scrapped plans to convert Fantastic Four into 3D because of budget restraints that saw the money used for reshoots, with it also rumored that Simon Kinberg filmed the re-shoots due to problems with Trank while filming FF.

Ultimate Reed Richards Rumored To Be New Hulk

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20885:]]

Yesterday saw Marvel reveal plans for their Fall reboot with EIC Axel Alonso teasing a new Hulk.

Now the identity of the new Hulk may have become known as Bleeding Cool is reporting the Ultimate Universe Reed Richards will be Marvel’s new Hulk.

Regarding the new Hulk, Alonso yesterday stated to various news outlets:

“The all-new Hulk … this character is certain to cause debate. The same people who went crazy with female Thor will have a field day with this one. Will there be enough room for him and Peter Parker? Read and find out. Wolverine will return to the Marvel Universe (again, this will be something big). Who is Wolverine? You’ll have to read and find out.”

“I’ll go ahead and tell you the Marvel Universe is about to see the arrival of an All-New Hulk—not a Hulk that you’ve seen before. And this development is deeply rooted in story. I am personally excited about it and its ramifications and it’s a fascinating story that I think Bruce Banner fans will definitely want to read. You’ll also see the arrival of a new Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe and you’ll also see—spoiler alert—a Wolverine emerge on the scene. I’m not going to say who, but a Wolverine that is certain to provoke reactions.”

“We’ve put the onus on the creators to come up with big changes in the lives of our characters, whether it’s Spider-Man or Ms. Marvel or Daredevil or the Hulk. You’re going to be looking at, in certain cases, new characters inhabiting those roles, and new characters dealing with profound changes in the relationships with others around them and where they live.”

“…Incredible Hulk like no fan has ever seen before. That’s certain to be a topic of conversation. All the same people who yelled about female Thor are going to do the same thing about this Hulk.”

Josh Trank & Simon Kinberg Defend Fantastic Four Casting

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20854:]]

With Fantastic Four only about two months away, we hear from Simon Kinberg and Josh Trank as they talk about the controversy surrounding the casting of the movie.

What’s interesting is not only do the two talk about Michael B. Jordan being cast as Johnny Storm, but also Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

“I knew it was going to get ugly,” Trank told the LA Times, who himself is a part of a mixed family. “I get it. I have a lot of friends who are older than me who are comic fans and it’s really hard for them to be on board with a change like that. Fantastic Four has been theirs for longer than I’ve been alive. It hasn’t been mine.”

Tranks continues with the argument that Fantastic Four is more similar to the real world.

“… you can’t just keep telling it the same way over and over again,” Trank offered. “And I think it only helps the world to be more honest with young kids, to show them the world that they go walk outside and see.”

Now regarding Jamie Bell as The Thing, Simon Kingberg steps in to offer an explanation.

“The change of Jamie as Ben being a smaller guy instead of a bigger guy, for example, was for a purpose,” Kinberg explained. “It’s more dramatic when that character becomes a huge rock creature – that’s a bigger transformation. The notion of a working-class tough guy who’s been pushed around by his bigger brothers his whole life seemed like a more interesting character than the guy who started as a football player and just ended up being 4 inches taller.”

Kinberg continues by comparing the Fantastic Four casting to that of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

“If you look at Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, everybody was upset at first that Wolverine was tall and now nobody can imagine anybody else other than Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine.”

“Fantastic Four” has an August 7, 2015 release directed by Josh Trank from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, Simon Kinberg and Josh Trank; produced by Matthew Vaughn, Simon Kinberg, Hutch Parker, Robert Kulzar and Gregory Goodman; starring: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.

More Proof Marvel Is Blocking Use Of X-Men & Fantastic Four

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20818:]]

Last night saw it become known that the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters had been removed from the Marvel Universe characters poster.

Now further proof that Marvel is intentionally blocking the use of the X-Men and Fanastic Four comes from the official Facebook pages for the Marvel Mighty Heroes mobile game and Trends International, the official publisher of the Marvel poster.

A user on reddit took the screenshots of the following responses.

You will also obviously notice no X-Men and FF characters on the above Marvel Mighty Heroes image.

Disney seems pretty mum on the subject. I can’t recall any big comic book “news” websites or entertainment “news” websites asking Disney about it other than back in November with Disney’s Alan Fine and Fox’s Jim Gianopulos stating they have no idea.

X-Men and Fantastic Four Dropped From Marvel Universe Poster

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20808:]]

Who needs more proof that CEO Ike Perlmutter ordered the removal of the X-Men and Fantastic Four from Marvel?

Well, here you go as the updated version of the Marvel Universe characters poster is minus both of them (via Bleeding Cool).

The original poster is below for reference.

Fox Studios owns the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four, so as the characters won’t be featured in the Marvel movies, Disney – under billionaire Perlmutter – has begun to yank the characters from comics and merchandise.

I’m wondering when the X-Men fans are going to wake up and start a Marvel comic book boycott like the Marvel Cosmic fans have been since Loeb and Bendys ruined cosmic because of the movies.

And to anyone at Disney Marvel reading this, Marvel was much better off back when the original poster was created (circa 2007) than it is now. Go back in your house, mouse.

Update: Trends International and creators of Marvel Mighty Heroes confirm Marvel dictating what characters can be used.

No Kang The Conqueror For Avengers Movies; Fox Owns Him

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20779:]]

Scratch one more cool character off the Marvel Cinematic Universe list as Kang The Conqueror is owned by Fox Studios.

A hopeful fan questioned Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn about the use of Kang on Facebook, with Gunn replying the character is owned by Fox.

Gunn also let it be known Fox owns the rights to the alien race, the Shi’ar, as well; so both Kang and the Shi’ar won’t be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or any Avengers movie any time soon.

Gunn did let it be known they chose the characters that are appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 a while ago.

Regarding Kang The Conqueror, the time-travelling Avengers foe first appeared in Fantastic Four #19 in 1963 as Nathaniel Richards/Rama-Tut, which is why Fox probably owns him. He first appeared as Kang in Avengers #8 in 1964.

Likewise, the Shi’ar first appeared in X-Men #97 back in 1976, and we can also guess Fox probably also owns the rights to the members of the Imperial Guard with Gladiator and such.

I guess the good news is that both Kang and the Shi’ar can appear in Fox’s X-Men and Fantastic Four movies.

Disney Continues Cancelling X-Men & Fantastic Four Merchandise

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20743:]]

It’s been stated Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter isn’t happy that Fox Studios owns the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four, so much so that Permlutter has ordered the cancellation of the comics and merchandise.

As Rob Liefeld previously pointed out, there was no merchandise for X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

The Fantastic Four comic has been cancelled, and Wolverine has been killed off.

There is even Marvel Comics killing off the Fantastic Four actors.

Marvel/Disney, under what is said to be a mandate by billionaire Perlmutter, has also cancelled planned Fantastic Four posters and removed Fox Studios-owned characters from t-shirts.

Now the latest is confirmed to be the cancellation of both X-Men and Fantastic Four statues from XM Studios, which were underway with sculptures already designed.

Bleeding Cool points out XM Studios updated their Facebook page with the following:

Folks, it’s been a sad day for us… due to reasons we aren’t at liberty to disclose, we have been asked to put a hard stop to all X-Men characters for now. That means Cable can’t be released, and neither can the awesome Sentinel Diorama which we’ve all been so looking forward to. Still, we continue to have faith that this isn’t an indefinite red light forever and you can have our promise we will be back to producing these dream pieces once the coast is clear – no matter how long it takes!

No Fantastic 4 too… same issue

Fantastic Four’s Michael B. Jordan Addresses The Trolls Online

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20714:]]

Like it or not, Michael B. Jordan is the new Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, in the Fantastic Four reboot and planned sequel. When Jordan’s casting was announced some people on the internet exploded with outrage as, in the comics, the character is white and blond-haired. Too add to that, Jordan’s Storm is the half-brother to Kate Mara’s Sue Storm, who has been adopted.

Michael B. Jordan took the time out to guest-pen an article at EW.com where he addressed the internet hate and diversity of the movie.

Here’s an excerpt:

You’re not supposed to go on the Internet when you’re cast as a superhero. But after taking on Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four—a character originally written with blond hair and blue eyes—I wanted to check the pulse out there. I didn’t want to be ignorant about what people were saying. Turns out this is what they were saying: “A black guy? I don’t like it.
