J.K. Simmons has been cast as the new Commissioner Gordon for Zack Snyder’s Justice League films as well as presumably the DCEU Batman movies. Following Suicide Squad‘s poor reviews, an article revealed that lots of cuts were made, and Jared Leto even let it be known that he filmed enough scenes for an entire Joker solo movie, even though the Joker appeared in only around ten minutes or so of the film.
Now the Suicide Squad producers, Richard Suckle and Batman producer Charles Roven, come out and defend all the cuts as well as back Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League director Zack Snyder, who was also a producer on Suicide Squad.
“Yes, there were a couple of different cuts of the movie, but they all really had to do with finding the final shape of the movie,” Roven told WSJ. “I’ve been doing this for a long time, and that’s not the first time something like this has happened, and it won’t be the last. And so sometimes in order to get the work done, you really just have to bring on more people and spend really long days and nights getting work done to get it ready.”
Regarding cutting Jared Leto’s Joker from Suicide Squad, Roven mentions that’s also part of the process.
“David Ayer shoots a tremendous amount of footage, and when it comes to things having to do with the Joker, Jared does many takes and all the takes are very, very different, and sometimes the scenes can go on for a very long time, and sometimes the scenes can be, when you’re more on page, tighter, etc.” Roven said. “Sometimes those impromptu scenes are fantastic, sometimes they’re not. That’s all part of the process. What you don’t want to do is you don’t want to limit the process.”
Following the Batman Vs. Superman fallout, as the movie never reached the billion dollar mark and received equally as bad reviews a Suicide Squad, rumors were flying that Zack Snyder might be let go from Justice League – which hasn’t happened – but Roven offers Zack Snyder has their complete support.
“I’m just saying you need to pay attention [to criticism], but you also need to stay true to your vision,” says Roven, who is also on board Justice League as producer. “Zack Snyder is a great director.”
Suckle also added that regarding Suicide Squad, “We’re ecstatic by the fan support and the fan reaction that we’ve received.”
“Justice League” has a November 17, 2017 release, with “Wonder Woman” coming out June 2, 2017.

Is it Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad all over again?
According to an alleged former Warner Bros. employee, things aren’t looking good for Wonder Woman as well.
An open letter (more of a rant) to WB Ceo Kevin Tsujihara goes off about the current state of WB and the DC movies.
The person that penned the rant, posted to pajiba, goes on to complain about all the layoffs at Warner Bros. blaming Kevin Tsujihara for them because of his poor decision making resulting in a string of movies that have all flopped.
You just don’t get it. And it’s not just DC movies, it’s your whole slate. Jupiter Ascending. Get Hard. Hot Pursuit. Max. Vacation. Pan. Point Break. Fucking PAN, you jerk. People lost their jobs and you decided Pan was a good idea. You think another Jungle Book is a good idea.
Regarding the DC movies, it seems that Suicide Squad was the last straw for the writer of the article.
I kept holding off on doing anything with it because of one title: Suicide Squad. Zack Snyder’s Dawn of Justice was a fiasco, but here comes this plucky little dark adventure about antiheroes. I love David Ayer. I love Harley Quinn. I love Will Smith. Put the letter in a drawer. The ship isn’t sinking anymore. Everything is fine. There’s no way this movie is bad.
And here we are. I got back from my screening and dusted this sucker off. You, your executive team, and the vision of your ‘extraordinary storytellers’ that resulted in the loss of around one thousand jobs seem intent on crashing the ship into as much shit as you can find in the ocean by making inane decisions over and over again.
Regarding, Wonder Woman, the writer pens to Tsujihara:
What are you even doing? I wish to God you were forced to live out of a car until you made a #1 movie of the year. Maybe Wonder Woman wouldn’t be such a mess. Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess. It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over.
Zack Snyder also takes some blame:
Zack Snyder is not delivering. Is he being punished? Assistants who were doing fantastic work certainly were. People in finance and in marketing and in IT. They had no say in a movie called Batman V Superman only having 8 minutes of Batman fighting Superman in it, that ends because their moms have the same name. Snyder is a producer on every DC movie. He is still directing Justice League. He is being rewarded with more opportunity to get more people laid off. I’m assuming you yourself haven’t been financially affected in any real way. You and your studio are the biggest lesson about life one can learn: The top screws up and the bottom suffers. Peter Jackson phones it in and a marketing supervisor has to figure out a plan B for house payments.

Justice League continues filming in the UK, and now director Zack Snyder has released a new image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
“Every day on set is an amazing adventure with this guy,” Snyder tweeted, which shows Momoa having behind-the-scenes fun with a guitar.
Jason Momoa will also be starring in the solo Aquaman movie directed by James Wan which has a July 27, 2018 release also featuring Amber Heard as Mera with the villain of the movie rumored to be Black Manta.
Momoa has also been cast as The Crow.

It’s possible that Ben Affleck, Zack Snyder and the cast of the Justice League will show up Saturday at Comic-Con as a surprise during WB’s big Hall H presentation.
The last couple of years has seen WB show up big time at Comic-Con, which included Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad last year in addition to the reveal of DCEU concept art. Previous to that saw the DC Trinity appear for the first time with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot on stage revealing a first look at Wonder Woman. The prior year saw Zack Snyder make the announcement for Batman Vs. Superman.
In THR‘s report on WB’s presence at Comic-Con, they speculate the Justice League will show up as well, noting, “…it’s hard to imagine there won’t be a surprise appearance by the Justice League cast and a splashy sizzle reel from the film to accompany them.”
With Marvel Studios appearing this year (they skipped out on Comic-Con last year) bringing Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Doctor Strange and Black Panther (possibly more with Captain Marvel speculated), it’s probably safe to assume DC will answer with the Justice League cast.
WB’s Hall H presentation with the confirmed cast of Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad takes place Saturday, July 23, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

I recall following some of the Justice League set visits that many articles compared the movie/visit to a Marvel film. Let’s hope not! The Batman Vs. Superman Ultimate Edition was pretty darn good. The Marvel movies, at least for me, while fun and entertaining, don’t really leave me with anything as nothing really happens in them. Zack’s right! They’re basically just popcorn movies with bland basic villains and no ramifications. Sorry, the Marvel films are getting way too predictable and have been following the same formula for too long.
Keep Justice League as intended and don’t change it because of the Marvel and Disney cronies!

It’s unknown if Jared Leto is in London for a Joker appearance in Justice League, but the actor did take to his social networks to announce he is in the city (via reddit).
Jared Leto stars as the Joker in Suicide Squad, which hits August 5th. It’s thought Jared Leto’s appearance isn’t just a one-and-done, but it’s speculated Leto has signed a multi-picture deal to appear as the Clown Prince of Crime.
It’s possible Jared Leto could cameo in the Justice League movie as the Joker, which would be followed up by a large role in the solo Ben Affleck Batman movie (some fans think Red Hood).

Batman Vs. Superman photographer Clay Enos released a new behind-the-scenes image from the movie featuring Amy Adams’ Lois Lane with the Kryptonite Spear.
“I think we underestimate an actor’s ability to stay focused,” Enos included with the tweet.
Interestingly enough, Zack Snyder actually mentioned the Kryptonite Spear during a Man of Steel interview when talking about the opened pod in the Kryptonian ship.
Today also sees the Batman Vs. Superman Ultimate Edition get released in select theaters, and tomorrow the digital version goes live.

It’s been speculated that Zack Snyder may have snuck a Christopher Reeve Easter Egg into the Man of Steel World Engine scene.
When Henry Cavill flies up into the energy/light, there is a frame of what appears to resemble Christopher Reeve’s face.
While promoting Batman Vs. Superman, Zack Snyder is asked about the potential Christopher Reeve Easter Egg, in which Snyder says that’s not the case.
“Fan theory,” Snyder told Cines Argentinos (via reddit) while smiling and shaking his head back and forth in the no. “It’s just the way it looks. It’s not… I mean if it looks like that, that’s the gods. Not me.”
