Chadwick Boseman plays Black Panther, with the solo movie due out February 16, 2018 also starring Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o, with Andy Serkis possibly back as Ulysses Klaue.

You can buy the Captain America: Civil War Art of the Movie book on Amazon. It’s loaded with images and info!

A cool tidbit revealed in the book is that the Russo brothers didn’t want Black Panther to have to rely on his claws all the time to fight, so that’s why they made the claws retractable — and also added Vibranium to the knuckles.

“The Russo brothers were very interested in having Panther be able to fight with claws, but not be tied to fighting with them all the time — the idea that he could retract them and still have a regular fistfight with someone,” Marvel concept artist Ryan Meinerding says. “So there are Vibranium claws that can extend and retract, and he also has pieces of Vibranium worked into his knuckles so when he fights he’s just as formidable with simple punches.”

Chadwick Boseman Says Black Panther Is A Detective & More For Captain America: Civil War

Chadwick Boseman offers up details about Black Pather in Captain America: Civil War as the actor spoke with Total Film magazine.

Describing Black Panther:

He has the dual activity of being a monarch of a country, and he’s literally a detective. I think he’s a misunderstood character because he makes decisions sometimes without consulting other people [laughs], without working as a team. It’s very hard to predict why he does what he does.

How much do we see Black Panther in Civil War:

I don’t feel like you’ll have a deep sense of the character because it’s a brief introduction. It leaves a lot to be explored. You want the character to have an arc, but I think there’s a lot you don’t know about him at the end of the movie.

How Black Panther is introduced in Civil War:

He is brought into the story because there are Wakandans who are the victims of the tragedy that happens because of the superheroes. So he’s brought in really as a political [figure], and he’s useful. It’s not really as a superhero. He fits that whole theme of the movie.

The Wakandans know who he is. It’s like his, purpose is to protect his country. It’s not necessarily to protect everyone [laughs]. He’s not that type of superhero. He has a singular purpose in that respect when he’s coming into this movie.

Chadwick Boseman will also be starring in the upcoming Black Panther standalone movie that has a February 16, 2018 release.

Team Cap posters and 22 high-res pics have also been released.

Robert Downey Jr.:

“People are much less capable of processing things than they think and we’re kind of simple and dumb. And for a guy who is fast, he’s definitely on the verge of practically getting over himself,” says Downey of Stark, decked out in business attire rather than his Iron Man suit on this May day of filming in Atlanta. “I almost feel like sometimes he’s some (old man) who goes back to the neighborhood and goes, ‘Kids, it doesn’t have to be like this.’ ”

“Regardless of whose argument is what, communication is about really being able to fully see the other person’s point of view,” he says. “I fully see Cap’s point of view — I don’t know if Tony does.”

Don Cheadle:

“Obviously, I can’t do anything that violates my oath but at the same time we’re dealing with things that haven’t ever been in the playbook.”

Paul Bettany:

“The stronger you are, the more you invite challenge. Something has to rise to fill the vacuum.”

Scarlett Johansson:

“Either we’re going to fight it and lose or we’re going to go with it and make it work,” Johansson says. “Regimes come and go but we have to pat the backs this time and shake hands and play nice.”

Chadwick Boseman:

“He’s definitely his own guy,” Boseman says. “There’s no ‘I’m going to do whatever you say because you’re the leader of this team.’ That’s not who he is. But I would say that’s also true of other characters.”

Captain America: Civil War Black Panther Mission & Powers Revealed

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24449:]]

We’ve seen Black Panther battling Captain America in the Civil War trailers, and the latest issue of Empire Magazine features Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa seemingly side-by-side Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson. So where does Black Panther stand? Check out comments made by Boseman talking about Panther’s mission in Civil War, Wakanda, Black Panther’s powers and the upcoming solo movie.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24460:]]

Role and mission in Civil War:

Boseman insists that Black Panther is “not a superhero” in the usual sense. Amid the grand-scale tussle that is the Civil War, he stands apart,”I’m not on anybody’s team,” says Boseman. “It’s my political mission to tame it and get it under control.”

“T’Challa is a prince of Wakanda,” he explains. “All heroes have a weight on their shoulders, but there will eventually be a difference in what I have to carry politically and socially.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24446:]]

Wakanda:

“The idea of Wakanda is sort of, what if Timbuktu hasn’t been conquered?” says Boseman, who also invented his own accent for the character, figuring out where on the continent the fictional country would lie. “I basically listened to people and picked what sounded cool, since it’s not a specific place. It’s in the southern, central part of Africa. The attitude, the musicality, as is my preference of the character. It has to fit his dignity.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24448:]]

Powers:

Black Panther combines mystical powers with high-tech accessories. The latter are definitely present in Civil War. Vibranium is woven into his suit to provide extra protection and has been shaped into ‘claws’ so sharp they can cut through other metals. There are also, Boseman teases, further “properties to the suit that you’ll see at a later date.” He won’t confirm whether his character has undergone the initiation ceremony that imbues him with superhuman senses, strength and speed, but it’s a fair bet he’ll have swallowed his magic brew by the end of the Black Panther solo movie, to be directed by Creed‘s Ryan Coogler (“He’s dynamic, he lovs the character, he’s such a great choice to direct that movie,” says Joe Russo).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24447:]]

On the Black Panther solo movie:

Each Marvel solo adventure s far has had its own distinct tone, and the same will be true of Black Panther. “There is one genre I think Black Panther lends himself to, but I’m not going to say,” Boseman tells us. “Black Panther is a superhero movie but it’s still character-driven. That’s my assessment so far. You have to identify with what you know, you have the fantasy of this other world but that can only hold you so far. It’s what’s real that is going to hold you in the end.”

“Black Panther” hits February 16, 2018.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Chris Evans’ Is Battered and Bruised For Captain America: Civil War Reshoots

Check out pics from the Captain America: Civil War reshoots featuring a battered and bruised Chris Evans.

The Daily Mail points out Chris Evans was spotted “sporting a sizeable bruise on his left cheek with a matching fat lip on the right topping, it all off with a rather forlorn expression.”

It’s unknown what happened to give Evans the injuries, but the actor was obviously involved in some sort scene that involved a fight (it’s also possible the injuries could be make-up). Who knows, maybe they were re-filming that awesome scene from the trailer (watch below) featuring Cap and Bucky vs. Iron Man.

Black Panther Chadwick Boseman was also spotted on set, but didn’t have any injuries.

Kevin Feige Talks Black Panther

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23531:]]

Check out what Kevin Feige had to say about Black Panther, who will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, played by Chadwick Boseman, prior to the 2018 standalone movie.

Via the latest issue of Empire Magazine:

“The one is important. Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore.

It’s a big geo-political action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T’Challa in Wakanda, and what is means to be a king. T’Challa’s story is very important to us as it links to the next Avengers films, which is why we brought it forward.”

It’s also noted that Feige said Black Panther will have a “primarily African-American cast.”

Black Panther hits February 16, 2018 and marks the last Marvel Phase III movie prior to The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.

New Captain America: Civil War Infographic & Details

Captain America: Civil War Trailer

Check out a cool new infographic for Captain America: Civil War featured in the latest issue of Total Film Magazine that offers details about the characters on each heroes’ side.

It’s learned Chadwick Boseman has signed a five-picture deal with Marvel.

Team Iron Man

Black Widow: Wait, what? Black Widow fighting against Captain America? Yep, Steve’s long-time ally is going rogue in Civil War, siding with Tony Stark over the registration act. “She’s trying to pick up the pieces of her life,” says Scarlett Johansson. This is going to be messy.

Black Panther: After that Avengers: Age of Ultron Easter EGg placed Black Panther in Wakanda, the clawed hero debuts in Civil War. “We needed fresh eyes, [somebody] who wasn’t embedded with the Avengers,” Marvel honcho Kevin Feige has said of introducing Panther at this point in the story, and with Chadwick Boseman (Get On Up) signed up for a five-picture deal with Marvel, he’ll be around a while.

War Hammer (War Machine): Old Shellhead’s greatest ally, War Hammer (Don Cheadle) looks to get into a spot of bother in Civil War – the film’s trailer shows his pulverised body being cradled by a disraught Stark. Could this be the end of the line?

Team Captain America

Ant-Man: After his brush with Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in Ant-Man, Scott Lang (Paul Lang) is entering the Avengers fray for good, and it seems he and Falcon have patched things up between films, as Marvel’s tiniest hero is siding with Caps. “It’s been a surreal ride so far,” says Rudd of joining the superhero stable. “It’s really only just starting…”

The Winter Soldier: Last seen in the post-credits Ant-Man sting, he may have been trying to kill Cap in The Winter Soldier, but now that he’s recovered his memories, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) is back on side – possibly. “You’re always trying to guess what side he is on… because he can go both ways,” Stan teases.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Chadwick Boseman Talks Black Panther Vs. Captain America In Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23296:]]

By now we all know that Chadwick Boseman will be suited up in Captain America: Civil War as Black Panther as the trailer (watch below) seemingly revealed T’Challa on the side of Iron Man battling Captain America.

Boseman recently spoke about potentially taking on Captain America in Civil War while appearing on Sirius XM.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t know. [laughs] That’s a great question right there. Hypothetically are you asking me do we fight in the movie? Is that what you’re asking? Well I mean, if you’re talking to [Floyd] Mayweather or [Manny] Pacquiao before the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, then Mayweather’s gonna say he’s gonna win. If you’re talking to Canelo [Alvarez] before the Canelo/[Miguel] Cotto fight, Canelo’s gonna say he’s gonna win.”

The interview also saw Boseman tease that Black Panther is involved in negotiating the superhero accords in the film that lead to Civil War as there needs to be “some sort of control over these super powers,” comparing them to nuclear weapons. Boseman also noted that Black Panther will be torn between tradition and the “new world,” as well as feeling the need to live up to his father’s legacy and the legacy of Wakanda.

Boseman also compared his Black Panther to James Bond, stating Panther has some “James Bond-esque charm,” and said Panther is not like Thor – who is spoiled and another member of Marvel’s royalty – and added Black Panther isn’t trying to get along with anyone.

Chadwick Boseman will follow Captain America: Civil War with the standalone Black Panther movie in 2018.

Captain America: Civil War Trailer

EW.com revealed new images of Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther for Captain America: Civil War.

Check them out below.

“He’s definitely not the life of the party in this instance,” said Boseman. “I think this is something true of the comic book character and the movie. You never quite know where he stands. There’s always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat. Not to say there’s not charm and he can’t be a ladies’ man and all that. It’s more like if there is humor, it’s more like James Bond.”
