Chadwick Boseman, Marvelâs Black Panther, chimes in on pretty much what most fans have come to realize regarding Batman Vs. Superman.
Boseman, in his opinion, tells Radio Times that Batman Vs. Superman basically had too much influence and input from too many different sources.
âI was there the first night to see Batman v Superman, got my popcorn and everything, and Iâm not exactly sure what they did wrong, But I feel like sometimes you see a movie â and I could be wrong, or saying this because Iâm in the industry â you can see that thereâs at times [too] many people deciding something. That thereâs not a clear voice from the director,â Boseman said. âSometimes when you watch movies you see that the producers are saying something, someone else is saying something, the directors are saying something. And sometimes, it doesnât work.  I donât know if thatâs why it doesnât resonate, if itâs because maybe the director didnât get his cut, I have no way of knowing that. I just feel like, what I have experienced at Marvel is that the directors are very much making the movie. So maybe thatâs it.â
Chadwick Bosemanâs explanation doesnât seem to be that far off as evidenced by the fact that Batman Vs. Superman Ultimate Edition cut is a lot better than the theatrical cut. Reportedly, WB brass wouldnât let Zack Snyder go with his longer three-hour cut in theaters. In addition, itâs also known that certain producers are no longer influencing the DC movie universe brand following the disappointing reviews and box office for Batman Vs. Superman. Further changes made by WB include bringing Geoff Johns on as co-runner of the DC movies, and itâs even been said Ben Affleck is now producing Justice League.
Regarding Bosemanâs statements about Marvel, Iâm not even sure if that holds up, other than it more or less seems the Marvel directors are in tune with Kevin Feigeâs vision. Most of the Marvel movies feature similar jokes, villains and outcome. Theyâre pretty much predictable âpopcornâ movies, which is one thing you canât say about the DC films.
Chadwick Boseman stars in the âBlack Pantherâ movie which is out February 16, 2018 directed by Ryan Coogler.
