Vin Diesel Teases Marvel Groot Movie ‘The Arbor King’

Vin Diesel Teases Groot Movie 'The Arbor King'

For at least the second time, Vin Diesel has teased a Groot movie for the MCU.

The actor, of course, voiced Groot for James Gunn in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films.

The latest tease has Vin Diesel offering up he has been writing a Groot movie, and the title of the film is The Arbor King, and the actor even posted AI-generated art of Groot confronting the Hulk.

What does Vin Diesel say about the Groot movie?

“I was always fascinated by the origins of how the Hobbit came to be… the idea that it started as a story a father would tell his children around a campfire,” posted Diesel.

He continued, “As you know, I have been deep in development and writing on so many of the characters I have grown a bond with. Just recently, I read to my family, The Arbor King… the long awaited story of Groot’s return to Planet X…”

Diesel added, “There’s movies the world wants, my incredible fans want and of course the ones the kids want. We are Groot!”

Diesel’s Earlier Groot Teases

This isn’t the first time Diesel has hyped up a Groot solo project.

Back in July, he posted — and then quickly deleted — that he had “finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney,” also calling it The Arbor King.

Before that, he mentioned “Planet X,” which he described as “Marvel’s most anticipated movie” and “the film where Groot returns to his home planet.”

The post originally read:

“So much to be excited about… Finally finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney… The Arbor King. You all know the other films in process or upcoming, but something about the continuation of that beloved floral colossus just feels different. Haha. Blessed.”

Will Marvel Actually Make a Groot Movie?

Marvel has yet to announce anything related to a Groot solo movie called Planet X or The Arbor King. The closest project so far has been the I Am Groot animated shorts on Disney+.

There also haven’t been announcements regarding the Guardians of the Galaxy, and none of the actors or characters have been officially announced as part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.

Dave Bautista has also gone on record that he wanted to do a Drax movie, but Marvel didn’t want to do it, and Bautista seemed none to happy about it.

Still, Diesel has a track record of using social media to will projects into existence — most notably Riddick 4, which he spent years promoting online before it finally entered production.

Whether The Arbor King is something Marvel is secretly developing, or simply an idea Diesel is pushing in hopes of fan support, remains to be seen. But for now, he’s clearly trying to plant the seed.
