Marvel Launches Viral WHIH News Channel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21227:]]

The character of Christine Everhart, from Iron Man and Iron Man 2, returns in the form of a recently launched viral “news” network for Marvel.

WHIH News Twitter and YouTube sites have been launched.

The first promo is in regards to the Ant-Man movie, with a second tweet in regards to a 4th of July fireworks celebration at Avengers Tower.

In the Marvel comics, Christine Everhart was actually a reporter for the Daily Bugle, while in the Iron Man movies Everhart worked for Vanity Fair (played by Leslie Bibbs).

It’s possible the WHIH promotion could stick around and be used to connect various Marvel movie and TV events.

“Ant-Man” hits July 17th.

Robert Downey Jr. Posts Iron Man Action Figures On Facebook

Check out the image that Robert Downey Jr. posted on Facebook.

Guess we could call it Robert Downey’s Iron Legion as it features a Tony Stark action figure surrounded by the different Iron Man action figures from the previous movies.

It looks like RDJ needs to add the new Iron man suit and the Hulbuster armor from Avengers 2.

Cool pic!

In the middle we see the Iron Patriot armor. Wouldn’t it be wild, with Marvel and Sony sharing Spider-Man, that Norman Osborn dons the suit one day? Leading to the Dark Avengers (Sentry! Ares!)?

Mickey Rourke Says He’s Not A Marvel Fan (Video)

Mickey Rourke still harbors a grudge toward Marvel Studios over his portrayal of Whiplash in Iron Man 2.

Arguably, Iron Man 2 is one of the weaker Marvel Movies, and while appearing recently on the Late Night With Seth Meyers for Sin City 2, said he is not a Marvel fan and dropped some expletives.

Apparently, what went down in regards to Iron Man 2 is that Mickey Rourke added more depth to Whiplash, which Marvel was all for, but when it came down to editing the movie, Marvel cut out all the added stuff to make Whiplash more simpler.

Rourke mentions he wasn’t happy with what Marvel cut out of Iron Man 2 on more than one occasion in the following video:

Marvel Studios Looking At Black Widow Scarlett Johansson Movie; Big Role In Avengers 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13730:]]

Scarlett Johnasson returns in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Black Widow, the Russian super-spy working for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Johansson has quickly become a fan-favorite since first appearing in Iron Man 2. She made heads turn in her debut seen in The Avengers movie when she took out the Eastern Bloc bad guys and talked down The Hulk.

If any Marvel female character is to get her first movie, it will be the Black Widow, and now that seems to be the case.

Speaking with Total Film, Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige says they are exploring a Black Widow movie.

“We start filming the next Avengers film at the end of March. Widow’s part in that is very big,” Feige said. “We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became who she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that.”

Scarlett Johansson also offers a bit about the dynamic between Natasha Romanova and Steve Rogers in Captain America 2.

“I don’t spend a lot of time in my catsuit in this one. I take it to the streets in a different way,” Johansson offered. “There’s a real kind of Big Brother aspect to this film. All that Cap and Widow know to be true, everything that they trust in – as much as they trust in anything – is sort of ripped out from underneath them in a way that we haven’t seen before. Everything is not as it seems. It’s not so black and white, it’s not so cut and dry, it’s not good versus evil. The stakes are much higher. It brings them closer together because they find themselves in a vulnerable situation and they’re in it together.”

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” has an April 4, 2014 release directed by the Russ Bros. starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily Van Camp, Hayley Atwell and Robert Redford.

Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Wow: Marvel Studios & Robert Downey Jr. Screwed Over Terrence Howard (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:12330:]]

First it was allegedly Edward Norton, and now it’s Terrence Howard.

In a candid interview, Terrence Howard let it be known what may have really went down regarding losing the James Rhodes and War Machine gig for Iron Man 2.

According to Howard, he signed a 3-picture deal with Marvel Studios, but they broke the contract in order to pay Robert Downey Jr. more money. Terrence Howard even says they straight out told him he wasn’t needed.

“This is gonna get me in a lot of trouble, but who gives a f*ck,” Howard said. “It turns out that the person that I helped become ‘Iron Man,’ when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out.”

There has been similar talk surrounding The Avengers 2; however, it was reported that Robert Downey Jr. backed his fellow Avengers stars this time. Perhaps Downey Jr. learned a lesson the first time around.

Regarding Edward Norton, reportedly Marvel Studios didn’t want another big star side by side Robert Downey Jr.

Iron Man 2 Concept Art For Unused Robots Might Feature Crimson Dynamo

A batch of concept art from Iron Man 2 has surfaced online from the artist behind the designs, Scott Patton.

Patton notes on his blog that he isn’t big into doing robots, but when John Favreau specifically asked him to whip up a batch of armors that were “failed attempts of other countries,” he couldn’t resist.

Ironman 2

This was a strange project for me, I don’t do robots.

I love robots, but I don’t really design them.

I quickly became okay with it when Jon Favreau said that these where

the failed attempts of other countries. I said “Hey, I can do that,  fail is right there in the description!”

If you recall, there was a scene in the movie which showed the world’s failed attempts at creating their own Iron Man suits, and this is some art for that.

We see designs for various countries below including Russia, China, Iran, England, North Korea, what might be a U.S govt. attempt, another from England and Canada.

Patton says he thought it was funny to make the Canadian Iron Man with the biggest guns of all.

We know that in Iron Man 2, Whiplash was sort of an amalgam of Marvel Comics characters including the real character as well as the comic book character of the Crimson Dynamo; perhaps the first image there is what could have been of the Russian red Iron Man suit.

Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2 Won’t Feature Other Avengers

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1183:]]Set visit reports are coming in today from The Avengers movie, and we get a tidbit about the next batch of Marvel Studios movies.

Seems Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2 will return to a more stand-alone story and won’t feature other Avenger characters.

“They’re looking to replicate the experience of the comics, in that Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 and Captain America 2 won’t necessarily feature the other characters from The Avengers; the characters will be returning to their own stories,” reports The Collider.

Makes sense as in a couple years the characters can assemble anew for Avengers 2.

Recent news on Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 comes from an Extras Casting description, which includes shooting locations, dates and plot info, and we just heard about the potential directors to be named for Captain America 2.

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
