Joker’s Identity Revealed In Justice League #42 (Spoilers)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21390:]]

Updated: with images below.

Potential spoilers follow for Justice League #42.

Bleeding Cool reports tomorrow’s issue, written by Geoff Johns, will reveal the identity of the Joker to Batman.

That appears to be true, but the kicker is – only to Batman.

Meaning not to the readers.

I don’t have confirmation exactly what goes down this time, but  a user on 4Chan (for what it’s worth) states Batman apparently is told the Joker identity in which he says, “That’s impossible,”  – meaning he knows who it is – and also questions the Moebius Chair about the identity of who killed his parents.

So the Joker’s identity is not really revealed, and my guess is never will be.

You can watch the video above. Here’s the blurb:

“Jared sent us gifts. He sent Harley [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it—a live rat. It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] and a letter… And a dead hog and a video of him in character… Basically [to] all of us. What he said was ‘guys, I can’t be there, but I want you to know I am doing my work as hard as you guys.’ And the video he showed us in character blew our minds away. We realized that day, this is real.”

Beach also stated the letters Leto wrote were “Joker-esque.”

Jared Leto Joker Tattoos Confirmed In Suicide Squad Set Images

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20617:]]

Sorry, fanboys.

Jared Leto‘s Joker will have all the tattoos that were first revealed as part of the first promo image.

Today saw a first look at Jared Leto on the set of Suicide Squad with Margot Robbie filming an argument scene.

The tattoos on Leto’s stomach were pretty clear, but it appeared as if the tattoo on the forehead might have been absent.

Now new pics have hit the net revealing the Joker tattoos are present (via Just Jared).

See below for a closer look.

Watch: Jared Leto & Margot Robbie Domestic Argument Scene

Not sure how much longer this will be online as, apparently, WB is trying to get this Suicide Squad scene taken down at YouTube and other video hosting sites.

Normally set video is not taken down as it’s in the full view of the public (and the movie is shooting in a different country than the U.S.); however, it’s unclear where this particular scene was shot and may be leaked production video (or a worker on set illegally filmed it).

That said, the scene features Jared Leto as the Joker arguing with Margot Robbie about something. Quinn has a gun out, with the Joker not too concerned. A trucker with a tire iron approaches the two, with Quinn shooting the man. Joker and Quinn then go back to arguing without much thought about the man. Joker seems to motion to Quinn to “go ahead do it” or “come on, come, come on.” The two continue to argue for a bit, with Joker eventually disarming Harley, and then Joker puts the gun to his own head before putting the gun into his front pants and slapping Harley Quinn and getting into his vehicle.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Joker might also urinate on Quinn before getting into his car.

It also appears that Joker does have tattoos – at least on his stomach.

Update: Jared Leto Joker tattoos confirmed.

First Look At Jared Leto On Suicide Squad Set With Margot Robbie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20604:]]

It was bound to happen sooner or later, and now we get a first look at Jared Leto in Toronto on the set of Suicide Squad with Margot Robbie.

We see Jared Leto as the Joker decked out in a purple suit with bright green hair driving a neon pink sports car.

At one time it was even rumored that the Joker would cameo in Suicide Squad only in prison, but those rumors seem to be a long way off as, apparently, Joker seems to be more of a rock star.

Check out the images and video below.

Updated: with additional images and video.

Update #2: WB has blocked the video, which shows Joker and Harley Quinn arguing. A man then comes over to see what’s going on (I think with a tire iron in hand)with Harley then shooting the man. Joker disarms Harley and then puts the gun to his own head. He puts the gun in his front pants and then smacks Harley and gets into the car.

Update #3: Video is back up.

Jared Leto Posts Another Jacked Image With A Warning

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20515:]]

Jared Leto is back taking to his Instagram to reveal a selfie of his new jacked-up body for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in which the actor/rock star will be playing the Batman villain, The Joker.

“Don’t make me punish you,” Leto warned.

While we’ve seen lots of Suicide Squad set pics of Will Smith, Margot Robbie and more, there haven’t been any of the Joker on the streets of Toronto.

It’s probably safe to assume whatever footage they shot with Leto was inside the production studio, but that hasn’t even been safe from prying eyes.

Leto is currently in Paris touring with his band Thirty Seconds To Mars.

Leaked Suicide Squad Images Reveal How Joker Got Tattoos

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20441:]]

So why was Jared Leto seemingly screaming in the first look at Joker image from Suicide Squad?

Well, we may now have the answer as a reported leaked Suicide Squad image reveals Harley Quinn as the tattoo artist.

It’s unclear where exactly the image came from, but if legit, it appears to more resemble concept art than an actual photo.

It also begs the question if indeed it is legitimate whether or not the Joker’s tattoos are real and will be a part of the movie.

Fan reception to the Joker tattoos hasn’t been all that positive, and there has been rumor the Joker tattooes will not be a part of the character in the actual film.

Greg Capullo Teases Jared Leto Joker Image May Not Be Real

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20322:]]

When WB released the first look at Jared Leto as the Joker for Suicide Squad, the internet exploded.

Reaction swung both ways, but the tattoos seem to be what most fans disliked.

Then speculation began with thought the image wasn’t really Leto’s Joker as rumors began swirling the tattoos were just for Joker’s 75th Anniversary.

A reported Hollywood insider even said the image isn’t what Leto will look like in Suicide Squad, and then a second rumor stated the tattoos were just being used to cover something else up.

Now former Spawn and Quasar artist, Greg Capullo, who now draws Batman for DC Comics, has added some fuel to the fire.

During a DC Comics Twitter Q&A, Capullo stated he thought the look was “pretty rad,” but then offered, “I heard it was just a troll.”

Jared Leto Rumored For Batman Vs. Superman; Batmobile In Toronto For Suicide Squad

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20278:]]

Earlier today saw set pics featuring Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne from Suicide Squad hit the net.

Now it’s being rumored that Jared Leto will actually first appear as Joker in Batman Vs. Superman, which precedes Suicide Squad by five months.

Latino Review is stating that Joker will be featured in a flashback scene for Batman Vs. Superman, which possibly explains why he is imprisoned in the Suicide Squad movie.

It’s said Joker will be seen in the flashback killing Jason Todd.

It also appears as if Ben Affleck may have more than a cameo in Suicide Squad as now, apparently, the Batmobile was spotted in Toronto (though unconfirmed).

Jared Leto Rumored Not To Have Joker Tattoos

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20261:]]

Update: Now JoBlo is stating the image isn’t a true look at Jared Leto as Joker:

…the Joker image everybody is talking about isn’t a genuine image and doesn’t match up with how he looks on set. He’s missing scars (which we reported on a while back as mementos from his history with Batman) and the grill/teeth are a kind of WTF addition to the image. Our source elaborates that he’s scarred on his back and arms and his skin is definitely whiter than what we see below. The tattoos are brand new if even real, and may have been added to cover up the areas where his scars will be.

With the release of the Jared Leto Joker image for Suicide Squad, just about everybody took an immediate disliking to the Joker tattoos.

Would the Joker really tat himself with “Damaged?” That’s like a UFC fighter tatting his forehead with “tough guy.” Yeah, pretty lame.

It’s been speculated by fans the Joker tattoos were just included with the image possibly for the character’s 75th anniversary as we see various references of what looks to be a bird wing (Robin) on the Joker’s right bicep, the Killing JokeHaHa” font, the cards, the smile and more.

Now an apparent Hollywood insider is stating the Jared Leto Joker image is not what the Joker will look like in Suicide Squad.

MoviePilot spotted the tweet:

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20260:]]

As noted, some of the leaked set images and video of Leto as the Joker reveal no tattoos, and many fans have pointed out the Leto Joker image tattoos appear to be photo-shopped on to the image as they are heavily pixilated (meaning Leto wasn’t actually wearing them).

However, what basically has been one-sided is the reaction to the tattoos – that being negative.

Regarding the Joker tattoos, there has been talk amongst fans online that the tats are just for the Joker’s 75th Anniversary and not for the movie, as fans have pointed to leaked set images and video which apparently do not feature the tattoos.

Jared Leto Joker Memes

Per the norm, the internet exploded when David Ayer released a first look at Jared Leto as the Joker from Suicide Squad.

A lot of opinions online are negative, which is reminiscient of Heath Ledger being announced as Joker, but probably the opposite of when Ledger’s Joker was finally revealed (as everybody liked it).

Comments on Leto’s Joker range from being compared to Marilyn Manson to people questioning what the “beep” is WB doing with the reinvention of its characters, to just about everybody disliking the tattoos.

Now the memes have begun to hit the the net as well.

Check out the Jared Leto Joker memes that have been hitting various social networks below.

DC Comics Cancels Controversial Joker Variant Cover

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19673:]]

This June sees DC Comics releasing Joker-themed variant covers.

One cover in particular has drawn some controversy with the variant to Batgirl #41.

It seems it’s so controversial that DC Comics is now cancelling the cover, per the request of the artist Rafael Albuquerque.

“My intention was never to hurt or upset anyone through my art,” Albuquerque said in a statement, which can be read below. “For that reason, I have recommended to DC that the variant cover be pulled.”

Apparently some people online were upset the variant cover was so “dark” while the current Batgirl seems to be more light-hearted.

Here is Albuquerque’s statement:

My Batgirl variant cover artwork was designed to pay homage to a comic that I really admire, and I know is a favorite of many readers. ‘The Killing Joke’ is part of Batgirl’s canon and artistically, I couldn’t avoid portraying the traumatic relationship between Barbara Gordon and the Joker.

For me, it was just a creepy cover that brought up something from the character’s past that I was able to interpret artistically. But it has become clear, that for others, it touched a very important nerve. I respect these opinions and, despite whether the discussion is right or wrong, no opinion should be discredited.

My intention was never to hurt or upset anyone through my art. For that reason, I have recommended to DC that the variant cover be pulled. I’m incredibly pleased that DC Comics is listening to my concerns and will not be publishing the cover art in June as previously announced.

With all due respect,

Rafa

And DC’s:

We publish comic books about the greatest heroes in the world, and the most evil villains imaginable. The Joker variant covers for June are in recognition of the 75th anniversary of the Joker.

Regardless if fans like Rafael Albuquerque’s homage to Alan Moore’s THE KILLING JOKE graphic novel from 25 years ago, or find it inconsistent with the current tonality of the Batgirl books – threats of violence and harassment are wrong and have no place in comics or society.

We stand by our creative talent, and per Rafael’s request, DC Comics will not publish the Batgirl variant. – DC Entertainment

Jared Leto’s Joker Has No Eyebrows

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19535:]]

We get a second image of the new look of Jared Leto as the actor recently got a hair cut, shave and had his hair bleached.

Leto posted the following image on Instagram offering a close-up look at the top of his face where we see Leto has no eyebrows.

Leto added, “A look into tomorrow,” with the hashtag: #lovelustfaithdreams.

It’s likely Leto went without eyebrows for the Joker makeup.

Both Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson’s Joker did have eyebrows.

Updated: with more pics below.

Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Viola Davis is playing Amanda Waller.
