Earlier in the month it was reported that Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to play Joker in Warner Bros. and Todd Phillips’ untitled Joker origin standalone movie, which was said to have the actor interested and that the talks just needed to go through.
An apparent production listing for the Joker movie also featured the name of Joaquin Phoenix with it said to have a start date of May 1st and “chronicles the origin of The Joker set in gritty early 80s Gotham City.”
Now Allocine has caught up with Joaquin Phoenix who says he doesn’t know anything about it.
“What movie about Joker?” Joaquin Phoenix questions when asked about it.
It’s remarked by the interviewer that “maybe you are not aware about it,” which sees Joaquin Phoenix shake his head no, with the interviewer adding that “everybody is talking about it and everyone says you are interested.”
“Wow. That sounds amazing. Cool.” Joaquin Phoenix replied. “No. I have no idea what you are talking about. Don’t be sorry.”
Obviously it seems simply that Joaquin Phoenix isn’t signed on for the Joker role as of yet, or maybe he is, just that he can’t talk about it.
It’s also been said about the Joker movie thatTodd Phillips is on board as both director and producer; Geoff Johns and Martin Scorsese are producers as well, with the Joker movie being written by Phillips and Scott Silver.
While we wait for the official announcement, check out Joaquin Phoenix as Joker fan art.
