New Jared Leto Joker Image For Suicide Squad

Check out the new Jared Leto Joker image below from the Suicide Squad movie, which also features Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

Viola Davis, who plays Amanda Waller, also recently told EOnline she wanted to pepper spray Leto after he sent her a box of bullets.

We all got gifts from Jared. I got bullets, in a box. Before that I was only introduced to The Joker. There was a part of me that wanted to say, and have my pepper spray out, you remember that bullet you sent me? He was completely committed. It was a little worrisome,. It made you a little bit nervous and I’m pretty tough. You know I got into a few fights when I was growing up…but it scared me a little bit. Every single person gets to be completely insane because all the characters are insane. They’re bad guys, we’re all bad guys.”

“Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Synopsis:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Supervillains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Next month’s Comic-Con will see the release of the Batman Vs. Superman: Joker’s Wild Batman figure from Jakks Pacific.

The Joker’s Wild Batman variant stands 19-inches tall and will cost $59.99.

Details:

Batman v Superman: Jokers Wild Batman – Convention Exclusive:

The Joker gets his revenge on Batman!
The Clown Prince of Crime “improves” your action figure with a bunch of crude symbols and drawings.
Exclusive limited edition The Jokers Wild Batman 19-Inch Big Figs(TM) Action Figure!
The grimy Gotham City walls on the box are painted and defaced too!
The Caped Crusader stands 19-inches tall.

Entertainment Earth Convention Exclusive! From Jakks Pacific’s Big Fig 20-inch scale collection – and available only at the Entertainment Earth booth #2343 at San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 – this limited edition Batman v Superman: The Jokers Wild Batman 19-Inch Big Figs(TM) Action Figure – Convention Exclusive is a mess. While Batman stands tall and has 7 points of articulation, the Joker got to him on the way from the factory. The Clown Prince of Crime tagged old pointy ears with his name and a bunch of crude symbols and drawings, showing that he’s got a great second career in designer toys if the whole super-villain thing doesn’t work out for him. This is what happens in Gotham City when you don’t lock up the spray paint at the art store!

The Joker’s work didn’t stop with Batman. The grimy Gotham City walls on the box are painted and defaced too, because the Joker doesn’t respect anyone or anything – not even your toys! You’re not going to stand for this, are you? Don’t let the Joker win. Pick up this awesome Batman figure today and show Mr. J that you’re not afraid of him, even if he did mess up your action figure before you had a chance to buy it.

The Dark Knight has many enemies in the bowels of Gotham City, but none is more deadly and more unhinged than the Joker, the diabolical Clown Prince of Crime. With an origin shrouded in mystery, this creative, conniving criminal always has a scheme up his sleeve to get the last laugh on the good citizens of Gotham. Considering his repulsion of the Caped Crusader, what if the Joker took it upon himself to design Batman’s iconic costume? That would certainly give the Caped Crusader a colorful new look that reflects Joker’s insane ideology! At 19-inches tall, this Entertainment Earth Exclusive is a great example of what the bad guys of Gotham City think of the Bat – which is to say, not much.

NOTE: This item will first be sold at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 at the Entertainment Earth Booth #2343. If supplies remain after the show, your order will be filled and shipped to you then, in August 2016.

Joker’s Tattoos Have Meaning In Suicide Squad

That first pic of Jared Leto as The Joker in Suicide Squad saw the internet explode as many fans weren’t – and still are not –  happy with the look of the Joker, particularly in regards to the tattoos.

Director David Ayer spoke with Yahoo movies about the Joker tattoos and mentioned they have meaning as well as admitted they are controversial.

The tattoos tell a very specific story…And eventually people will decipher them and understand what’s going on, but obviously they’re contentious, any time you do something new it’s contentious. There’s very specific stories and easter eggs in those tattoos. And even his teeth, there’s an entire story behind that which is absolutely canon. It’s putting his history on his body. This Joker is a little more working class, who I believe could live in our world.

Jared Leto Talked To Real Psychopaths For Joker In Suicide Squad

EW.com spoke to both Jared Leto about the Joker in Suicide Squad where Leto let it be known in researching how to play his version of the Joker, he went and spoke with real life experts, doctors and even spent time with psychopaths.

Check out some highlights:

We knew we had to strike new ground. There had been such great work that we knew we had to go in a different direction. So you had a kind of direction from the very beginning, knowing that you can’t go that way, so you have to head this way. That was really helpful. But the Joker is fantastic because there are no rules. The Joker operates from instinct.

He became a real person. I don’t know if person is the right word. I think the Joker lives in between reality and another plane. Kind of a shaman in a way. It’s a very intoxicating role to take on. You have permission to break rules and to challenge yourself and anyone around you in a really unique way.

I first started at the beginning, educating myself, researching, reading as much as I could, going back to the source material. And then at a certain point, I knew I had to stop doing that. Because the Joker has been redefined, reinvented many times before. I think the fun thing about it is when people have done it in the past, there is some spirit of the Joker essence that they keep, but they either build upon something or tear something down and start again at the beginning. For me, I knew once I had gone through the process of educating myself, I had to throw everything away and start from the beginning and really build this from the ground up. It was a transformative process. There was a physical transformation. There was a physical conditioning.

There are a lot of things. It’s probably better to not get into it but to the Joker, violence is a symphony. This is someone who gets an extreme reward from the act of violence and manipulation. Those are the songs he sings and he is very in tune with what makes people tick. I did meet with people that were experts, doctors, psychiatrists that dealt with psychopaths and people who had committed horrendous crimes, and then I spent some time with those people themselves, people who have been institutionalized for great periods of time. I guess when you take on a role, any role, you become part detective, part writer, and for me that’s my favorite time of the entire process, the discovering, the uncovering, and the building of a character. Yeah, it’s really fun.

As far as the look of the Joker, it was a collaborative process. There were things I brought to the table and things David brought to the table and it was a mashup of both of our sick and twisted minds. There were specific things that he liked and wanted and I was there to help bring them to life in the best way I could.

I think the most important thing I brought was probably not to do with the outside but with the internal. But you know David was specific with tattoos. They were his idea but there was a lot to play with. Who knows what will end up in the final film?

Watch: Geoff Johns Talks More About Joker Name Reveal

This past weekend at WonderCon saw DC Comics release details and images for their upcoming Rebirth event.

One of the bigger and most surprising items to come out of the announcement is that DC Comics is going to reveal the Joker’s name.

In a previous issue of Justice League, Batman asked the all-knowing Mobius Chair what is the name of the Joker. The reader wasn’t given the answer, but Batman replied with, “That’s not possible.”

Following the WonderCon announcement, IGN caught up with Geoff Johns who offered a further update about the Joker name reveal.

“We are going to find out what he heard in Darkseid War,” confirmed Johns. “And it’s going to lead to something else.”

When we first reported on the Joker reveal, our post went viral reaching nearly a million people. Many of the fans mentioned they don’t want to know the name of the Joker. Johns comments on that as well.

“But the answer probably won’t be an answer that people predict,” Johns teased with a big smile.

DC Comics “Rebirth” kicks off May 25th with an 80-page special written by Johns priced at $2.99.

Check out the video below of Geoff Johns talking Rebirth and the Joker’s name reveal, as well as Joker teaser art released at WonderCon.

Update #2: Geoff Johns teases more about the Joker name reveal (video).

Just announced at WonderCon, it’s revealed DC Comics will reveal Joker’s real name.

Fans will recall back in Justice League #42 when Batman sat on the Mobius Chair that he asked it two questions: Who killed his parents (answer: Joe Chill), and what is the Joker’s real name?

Batman responded, “That’s not possible.”

Well, DC never revealed the answer, but now they will.

At the big Rebirth panel at WonderCon, both Geoff Johns and artist Jason Fabok announced they are revealing what the Mobius Chair said and unleashed the following teaser art:

Now in an interview with Complex, Common further hints at the role. While he doesn’t specifically state the Tattooed Man, he comes awful close.

“My role is basically a character who is in business with the Joker. His name was Monster T. You all will see what’s going on. The movie is dope, though,” Common offered.

Mark Hamill & Kevin Conroy Tease Batman: The Killing Joke Animated Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23743:]]

This Summer’s San Diego Comic-Con will see the premiere of the Batman: The Killing Joke animated movie, which will feature veteran voice actor Kevin Conroy back as the Caped Crusader along with Mark Hamill reprising as The Joker.

The duo recently took to Twitter to post an image of themselves.

“I finally caught my favorite villain! Bats nabs Joker,” Conroy posted on Twitter.

Bruce Timm is behind the project and also recently revealed the Batman: The Killing Joke animated movie will feature original footage not a part of the comic.

“The source material is not long enough to make a feature film out of,” Bruce Timm offered. “So we actually had to add a lot more story to it, which is tricky, but I think we came up with a really good solution on how that worked.”

The graphic novel is described by Amazon as:

According to the grinning engine of madness and mayhem known as The Joker, that’s all that separates the sane from the psychotic. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, he’s out to prove his deranged point. And he¿s going to use Gotham City’s top cop, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Barbara to do it.

Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight’s closest friends. Can he finally put an end to the cycle of bloodlust and lunacy that links these two iconic foes before it leads to its fatal conclusion? And as the horrifying origin of the Clown Prince of Crime is finally revealed, will the thin line that separates Batman’s nobility and The Joker’s insanity snap once and for all?

Jared Leto Asked Grant Morrison For Joker Advice

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22340:]]

Yesterday saw Will Smith reveal Jared Leto stayed in character as the Joker for the six months of Suicide Squad filming, and now it’s learned Leto went to DC Comics writer Grant Morrison for advice.

In an interiew with Comic Heroes magazine, Morrison said Leto gave him a call about the Joker.

“It looks quite interesting.” Morrison said about Suicide Squad. “[Jared Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions. I’m keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance.”

Morrison also offered his take on the current superhero movies offering he would like to see them take more chances.

“I don’t think I’ve seen any great ones for a while. Age of Ultron was solid but naturally not quite the gamechanger the first Avengers was. We’re all familiar with the meat and potatoes superhero stuff, so I think it’s time they made Miracleman, Enigma, Flex Mentallo or something else that’s a bit more challenging.”

Will Smith Says Jared Leto Stayed In Character As Joker Throughout Suicide Squad Filming

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22336:]]

We learn a tidbit about the Suicide Squad in that Jared Leto stayed completely in character as Joker during filming — so much so that Leto never even spoke to Will Smith as the two worked on the film together for six months.

Will Smith told Complex the following:

[Suicide Squad] is insane. I’ve never actually met Jared Leto. We worked together for 6 months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of ‘Action!’ and ‘Cut!’ I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be ‘Hey, Jared. What’s up?’ He was all in on the Joker.

For fans of Smith’s Bad Boys series, the actor is currently involved in a third film and offered up the next one should be coming out in 12-16 months.

Awesome Joker Halloween Lawn Ornament From Batman: Death Of The Family

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22044:]]

Halloween is right around the corner, and what better way is there to scare the little trick ‘r treaters in your neighborhood than with the Batman: Death of The Family Joker lawn ornament?!

Check out pics below.

It’s actually not a bad price at $89.99 at Think Geek.

Details:

GUESS WHO’S BACK… IN YOUR YARD

So there was no Joker for quite a while, and then there was a LOT of Joker. He was all over the place when the “A Death in the Family” story arc began.

Just like this yard decoration. There is (presumably) no Joker in your garden currently. But if you get this there could suddenly be a LOT of Joker. From shoulders up, this DC The Joker Ground Breaker “rises” out of your flower garden to terrify your trick or treaters. It’d be awesome to put him out with a motion sensitive spotlight, so he suddenly appears when they walk by. Imagine the faces they’ll make! (Click and drag your mouse across the white space below for the spoiler joke.)

No really. Imagine the faces they’ll make. On a platter.

Margot Robbie Talks Fantastic Four & Jared Leto’s Joker

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21862:]]

Margot Robbie lets it be known she has dodged the proverbial bullet as prior to Suicide Squad, she was up for the role of Invisible Woman Sue Storm in the Josh Trank Fantastic Four movie which went to Kate Mara.

Prior to Suicide Squad wrapping, Robbie spoke with the NY Daily News about FF.

“I didn’t really resonate with the script, and I haven’t seen the movie, so I don’t really know how it turned out different from the page,” Robbie said of Fantastic Four“But I had a great meeting with the director [Josh Trank] and I really enjoyed that. I guess it’s part of the game: sometime you win some, sometimes you lose some.”

It ended up working out that David Ayer would cast Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, the side kick to Jared Leto’s Joker, a role, which by all accounts, looks to be a blockbuster for Robbie.

“What he’s doing with the character is so cool,” she said of Leto as the Joker. “At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I’m so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused.”

Margot Robbie also offered her character is just as crazy as the Joker.

“I guess the one common denominator is we’re all bad guys, it just makes everything more fun that way,” Robbie offered. “The scenes are more interesting I feel, when you just don’t know how the characters are going to react, especially with Harley, who’s absolutely nuts… she’s either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug.”
