Following the news of Deadpool 2’s Zazie Beetz, now it’s said that Robert DeNiro is in talks for the Joaquin Phoenix Joker origins movie.
If WB and Robert DeNiro can come to an agreement, this will mark the star’s first comic book movie where he will play a talk show host who is somehow instrumental in the Joker’s origin.
Zazie Beetz, who recently played Domino in Deadpool 2, is in talks to play a single mother who catches the interest of the man who will become the clown prince of crime.
WB also recently gave the Joker origins movie an October 4, 2019 release date, with Todd Phillips directing and co-wriring with Scott Silver (The Fighter).
The Joker origin movie centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
