Michael Rosenbaum Wants To Play The Joker; Comments On Jesse Eisenberg Lex Luthor

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13974:]]

Michael Rosenbaum is, of course, known for playing Lex Luthor in the Smallville TV series, but the actor also has a hero on his resume with The Flash.

Michael Rosenbaum voiced The Flash for the Justice League cartoon and Justice League: Doom animated movie.

Cinekatz.com caught up with Rosenbaum and chatted about his thoughts on new Lex Luthor Jesse Eisenberg as well as which DC characters he would want to play if given the chance.

Michael Rosenbaum states he would like to play The Joker either as a voice or on screen.

I think I’d be a fantastic Joker. I think I could crush The Joker.

Both [on screen and voice], actually. I don’t think anyone can top Heath Ledger’s version of the Joker. I don’t think that can ever be topped. I’d give it a shot, don’t get me wrong. The voice would be fun. And I think I could be Batman. Look, these are the ones I’d enjoy, but I’d do anything. Bruce Timm would always ask me to do this and that. It was always a treat “do one of your impressions”. I got to do many voices over the time. It was very fun.

Regarding Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Rosenbaum offered the following advice:

First off, I think he’s a really good actor. I don’t think he needs any advice from me, he’ll do his homework. Do it your way. I’m sure Zack [Snyder] has an idea. He cast you for reason. Jesse’s a good actor. He’ll do it his own way and that’s the best way. If you can do it your way, if you succeed or fail, you succeed because you are being original. If you’re trying to emulate someone, you’ll always be compared. That’s why I didn’t want to be compared during Smallville. I didn’t watch any of Gene Hackman as Lex. He’ll be fantastic. Great actor, no problem with it.

Michael Rosenbaum Comments On Jesse Eisenberg Cast As Lex Luthor In Batman Vs. Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13493:]]

Today’s announcement that Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor in Batman Vs. Superman may have taken the internet by storm almost as much as Ben Affleck being cast as Batman.

The casting announcement seemed to have come from out of left field as just about every fan had their favorite choice of actor to play Lex Luthor.

One of those fan-favorite actors happened to be Michael Rosenbaum, who of course played Lex Luthor in the Smallville series. Rosenbaum has also stated he was interested in the role and had fun campaigning for it as most recently he said he would play Lex Luthor in Batman Vs. Supermanin a f’n heart beat.”

Now Michael Rosenbaum has taken to his Twitter account to thank the fans and joke around with the news.

“Batman Vs Superman” has a newly announced May 6, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Michael Rosenbaum Would Do Lex Luthor In Batman Vs. Superman “In An FN Heart Beat”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:13241:]]

With no official word as of yet regarding who is playing Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman, Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum offers his two cents yet again.

Previously, Rosenbaum campaigned for Lex Luthor in Batman Vs. Superman with the help of Stan Lee, and now the fan-favorite actor is back at it.

This time, however, Rosenbaum admittely states his having portrayed Lex Luthor on Smallville might be a handicap, but offers he would still love to do it.

Via MediaMike.com:

I’d love to do it. But I think Joaquin Phoenix is probably gonna do it or somebody. I’m a big Zack Snyder fan. Obviously, I think I could play the role. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I don’t hold my breath because I know there’s the stigma, “He was the TV Smallville Lex Luthor.” I say that sarcastically, but I think it’s a shame. If people like the role and what I did with it, then they should consider it. But I’m not the director. I’m not the producer. Long story short, I’d do it in a f-cking heartbeat.

As Rosenbaum notes, Joaquin Phoenix has been said to be up for the role, with Mark Strong and Bryan Cranston added to the mix of contenders.

Would Michael Rosenbaum be able to pull of Luthor twice?

“Batman Vs Superman” has a July 17, 2015 release also starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Michael Rosebaum Campaigns For Lex Luthor In Man of Steel 2 With The Help of Stan Lee

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:8978:]]Back in late June, Michael Rosenbaum made mention that the Superman fans should help spread the word about there being no other choice for Lex Luthor in a Man of Steel sequel, and now the actor is back at it again with the help of none other than Stan Lee.

Michael Rosenbaum again took to his Twitter, this time tweeting at Zack Snyder, an autographed image of Stan Lee that reads, “You’re the best Lex Luthor.”

Rosenbaum also added, “Obviously the master knows stuff others don’t. Right?”

Currently rumored for Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2 is Mark Strong, who didn’t deny when asked.

Breaking Bad and Godzilla star, Bryan Cranston, is also said to be a contender, with Rosenbaum previously stating to let Cranston stick to meth.

Who would make the best Lex in a Batman/Superman film? Rosenbaum? Strong? Cranston?

Check out the Stan Lee autographed picture with mention of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor:

Michael Rosenbaum Wants To Be Lex Luthor In Man of Steel 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:8978:]]With Man of Steel 2 looking like we’ll get our first appearance by the Zack Snyder Lex Luthor, the rumors and talks surrounding the character are beginning to fly.

Our own DC Entertainment source provided us with information that Zack Snyder was looking at Mark Strong for Lex Luthor.

Another contender amongst the fans is also Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad and the new Godzilla movie. Cranston has been the top choice amongst a number of website polls for Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2.

Now we can add another actor to the list, and it’s Smallville alumnus Michael Rosenbaum.

Rosenbaum took to his Twitter to respond to the Cranston as Lex choice, arguing in his own favor.

“Can the Superman fans out there spread the word that there’s really no other choice. Let Cranston stick to meth. Thanks,” he tweeted.

Michael Rosenbaum arguably portrayed the best Lex Luthor seen in television or any of the movies appearing on CW’s Smallville for seven seasons as well as the show’s finale.

We know that Zack Snyder is a fan of Smallville from previous comments back in May of 2011 where the director thanked the show for keeping Superman around.

Would having Michael Rosebaum as Lex Luthor be too much crossover from Smallville for audiences to bear?

Or would that be a good thing?
