Spider-Man: Homecoming Starts Filming

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 recently finished filming in Atlanta, and now Spider-Man: Homecoming is next.

James Gunn and Chris Pratt revealed a pic of themselves with new Spider-Man Tom Holland.

“Many blessings today to the star of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland, and the film’s director, Jon Watts (standing in here for Jon is some dude that was passing by), as they begin their shoot in Atlanta just as we are ending ours. I don’t think we could pass the Marvel baton to two nicer, better guys who care more about what they’re doing. Kill it!” Gunn posted on Facebook.

Update: Tom Holland has offered a peek at his Peter Parker director’s chair from the set.

Update #2: The first Spider-Man: Homecoming set pics have hit the net.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits May 5, 2017, with Spider-Man: Homecoming getting released July 7, 2017.

In addition to Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi, Martin Starr and Donald Glover.

Stan Lee Films Spider-Man: Homecoming Cameo; Praises Tom Holland

Over the weekend saw Stan Lee attend the Denver Comic-Con where it’s learned Stan Lee has filmed three new Marvel cameos.

Stan Lee also had good things to say about the new Spider-Man, Tom Holland.

“Oh, he’s wonderful. I was with him the other day. He is great,” Stan Lee said about Tom Holland and Spider-Man: Homecoming. “I can’t believe it. It’s as if we created a living being to be Spider-Man, and it turned out to be Tom.”

We can probaly speculate the three Marvel cameos Stan Lee filmed are for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming and most likely the upcoming Doctor Strange movie (or possibly Avengers 3).

“It’s hard to pick my favorite cameo because you know they are all masterpieces. Unfortunately, this will frustrate you a little. I have a favorite, but I can’t tell you what it is because it hasn’t appeared yet. I had to go [to Atlanta, Georgia] to do three cameos for three movies at the same time. One of the cameos I did is for the…” Stan Lee teased before being cut off by someone off-stage who told him not to name the movies.  “Let me put it this way, it’s a movie that will come out soon. You’re going to all want to see it because it’s one of your favorites,” he said. “In that movie I have a cameo where I’m dressed up as… I won’t tell but you are gonna love it.”

Stan Lee also recently had a cameo with his wife in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Michael Keaton Said To Play Vulture In Spider-Man: Homecoming; Martin Starr Joins Cast

Following the news of Logan Marshall-Green as a potential villain for Spider-Man: Homecoming, it’s learned Martin Starr has joined the cast.

Deadline first reported the news, though the role is unknown.

Deadline is also stating that Michael Keaton is playing the Vulture (Marvel has yet to confirm): “…and Keaton plays The Vulture.”

Martin Starr is known for Silicon Valley and Hawaii Five-O.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has a July 7, 2017 release also starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi and Donald Glover.

Logan Marshall-Green In Talks For Villain #2 For Spider-Man: Homecoming

It’s reported Logan Marshall-Green is in talks to star in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

According to THR, Logan Marshall-Green will play the secondary villain in the movie alongside Michael Keaton, who is said to be the main villain.

Both roles are currently a secret, but it’s been speculated Michael Keaton may be playing Vulture (I actually think Norman Osborn is a better choice).

Logan Marshall-Green is known for Quarry, Prometheus, Dark Blue, Traveler, The OC and 24.

Actually, Logan Marshall-Green looks to be a pretty good choice for Norman Osborn as well, I would think.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has a July 7, 2017 release also starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi and Donald Glover.

Director Jon Watts Shoots Down Spider-Man: Homecoming Rumor

The past couple of weeks have seen new casting announcements for Spider-Man: Homecoming, but the roles have yet to be revealed.

With the casting of Michael Barbieri came a rumor/speculation that the 14-year-old actor may be playing a version of the Marvel Comics character Ganke Lee, a Korean American, which caused some uproar as it followed the Doctor Strange Ancient One controversial casting of Tilda Swinton replacing a Tibetan character.

Now Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts has taken to Twitter to shoot down the rumor.

“What The–?! Michael Barbieri was never playing Ganke… no idea how that rumor started… Ok, back to work!!!” Watts posted, while also letting loose a second tweet: “What The–?! Michael Barbieri was never playing ‘a version of or a character based on/similar to’ Ganke… Ok, back to work for reals now!!!”

I actually speculated that Michael Barbieri may be playing Harry Osborn.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has a July 7, 2017 release also starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi and Donald Glover.

Donald Glover Cast In Spider-Man: Homecoming

It’s learned Donald Glover will be joining the ranks of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

THR reports Glover’s role is being kept a secret.

Donald Glover has been a fan-favorite choice to play the Ultimate universe version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and even embraced the concept when fans started a campaign for it.

Glover did voice Miles Morales for the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon as well.

Donald Glover is now 32-years-old, so more than likely he wouldn’t be playing Miles Morales Spider-Man, but it’s possible he could simply appear as “Miles Morales,” in the movie which would be a nod to the fans.

Miles Morales also happens to be a Brian Michael Bendis-created character, and we know Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige recently booted Bendis from having any more involvement in the Marvel movies as part of Ike Perlmutter’s Marvel Comics creative committe that made a mess with things at Marvel Studios and previous films.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has a July 7, 2017 release also starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri and Kenneth Choi.

Sam Raimi Spider-Man 4 Details Become Known

Following the release of the Spider-Man 4 art, the artist who worked on the storyboards has offered new details.

io9 caught up with artist Jeffrey Henderson who offered the following about Sam Raimi’s cancelled Spider-Man 4:

Bruce Campbell would have been in Spider-Man 4 in a cameo role as Mysterio that would have been a part of the beginning of the film featuring “a montage of C and D- list villains that we knew would never be used as main antagonists: Mysterio, the Shocker, the Prowler, the old school-onesie-wearing version of the Rhino, maybe even the Stilt Man, etc.”

Vulture would have been the main villain: “The thing we kept coming back to was that, as a character, everyone was going to dismiss the Vulture as just an old guy in a silly green suit,” Henderson said. “So we wanted to go the opposite way and really make him the most fearsome and formidable adversary that Spider-Man had faced in the series.”

You can check out the Spider-Man 4 art up at Henderson’s site.

As a bonus, here is video featuring Toby Maguire talking about Spider-Man 4 days before it got cancelled:

Sam Raimi Spider-Man 4 Concept Art Surfaces

Following Spider-Man 3, Sam Raimi was planning on doing a fourth Spider-Man movie that was to feature the Vulture, Mysterio and Felicia Hardy (Black Cat).

If you previously haven’t seen them, storyboard artist Jeffrey Henderson posted a batch of Spider-Man 4 storyboards (via reddit).

We see Mysterio looks a lot like Bruce Campbell (Raimi’s long time Evil Dead friend and who has cameoed on Raimi’s Spider-Man movies), and Felicia Hady looks like Angelina Jolie, though reportedly Anne Hathaway was going to play the character.

Alas, Spider-Man 4 never happened, Raimi went on to do Drag Me To Hell and Oz the Great and Powerful, and eventually Spider-Man was rebooted with Amazing Spider-Man.

Now Vulture is rumored for the latest Spider-Man reboot, Spider-Man: Homecoming, possibly played by Michael Keaton.

First Look At Spider-Man Concept Art From Captain America: Civil War

Check out a batch of concept art for Spider-Man from the Captain America: Civil War Art of the Movie book, which is now available.

Update: Black Panther concept art images can also be viewed.

You can pick up the book on Amazon.

“When you see him on screen – especially next to characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers – he brings something special and different to that role because there is an innocence to him that’s partially realized by the fact that Tom Holland is himself just a teenager,” producer Nate Moore says. “At the same time, we wanted Spider-Man to move unlike any Spider-Man in other previous films. And Tom — having learned sort of theater acting and acrobatics by doing Billy Elliot in London — brings a natural physicality to the role that we were kind of surprised by, I mean, here’s a kid who can do a standing backflip. That really helps when you’re building action around the character, because you’re not as dependent on stunt guys to breathe life into this character when he has the mask on. And I think actors inhabit part of the roles physically. So Tom was able to bring that physicality to the character of Spider-Man even when he had the mask on.”

“There’s a natural youthful clumsiness to Tom that’s endearing and becomes so much part of his performance that it integrated uniquely into the typical Spidey acrobatics,” Dan Deleeuw, Captain America: Civil War visual effects supervisor, says. “During the visual effects process, it was all about mechanics. He just can’t swing through the air and not have the mechanics of what the body needs to do to propel him through the air. I think what you’ll find — even though we do hit the iconic ‘Spidey posts’ — is that the in-betweens are not as fluid or as graceful. His body struggles to put him into those positions, and it’s a function of it being his first time out. He’s still figuring it all out and coming into himself.”

“The Russo brothers wanted him to stay grounded, but still convey that true comic book feel,” Visual Effects producer Jen Underdahl says. “When you see him on screen, it’s him. It’s Spider-Man like we’ve never seen him before. He elevates the scenes in a really fun way.”

“It was already iconic having most of the Avengers characters squaring off, with the additions of the Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, and Black Panther,” concept artist Andy Park says. “But once Spider-Man joined the fray, it was a line-up of characters that many fans never thought they’d see together. It is truly a special moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have arguably the most recognizable character in all of comic books join the party.”

Tom Holland will star in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which has a July 7, 2017 release also starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Marisa Tomeia as Aunt May, with Michael Keaton rumored as the villain.

Michael Keaton Speculated For Norman Osborn In Spider-Man: Homecoming

While it’s been said Michael Keaton is playing the villain, the Vulture, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios and Sony have yet to officially confirm the news.

The Hollywood trade web sites have confirmed Michael Keaton for a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it appears the exact role is currently either based on speculation or a best guess.

Now it’s actually being put out there that Michael Keaton may be playing Norman Osborn in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

A reporter for Variety, who was first told about Keaton having a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, took to Twitter to reveal that Michael Keaton screen tested with young actors around the same age as Tom Holland, with the reporter guessing the young actors could be up for the role of Harry, which would mean Michael Keaton is playing Norman Osborn.

It’s not a bad guess as Robert Downey Jr. also screen tested with young actors, with Tom Holland nabbing the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It’s possible Marvel is doing the same with Keaton for Harry Osborn.

If you think about it, Michael Keaton playing the head of Oscorp would be a pretty cool dynamic versus Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, and you have to admit seeing Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Michael Keaton as Norman Osborn together on screen would be darn epic.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has a July 7, 2017 release also starring Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, with Zendaya, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori in roles.

Vincent D’Onofrio Not Appearing In Spider-Man: Homecoming As Kingpin

It seems some people just can’t accept that the MCU and Marvel TV are separate. Or still don’t realize it, yet.

The latest speculation sees that since Marvel Studios and Sony are making a new Spider-Man: Homecoming movie that the Kingpin might be featured in some capacity.

In the comics, Spider-Man is known to battle the Kingpin a time or two.

The news of some fans wanting Kingpin in Spider-Man: Homecoming has made its way to Vincent D’Onofrio who plays the character in the Marvel TV Netflix Daredevil series; however, Vincent D’Onofrio basically says it’s wishful thinking.

“Sorry folks but this is news to me,” Vincent D’Onofrio tweeted. “It would be great but I don’t think it will happen.”

For those still not convinced about the Marvel Studios and Marvel TV disconnection, even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirmed with: “There is Marvel TV who is pretty disconnected from Marvel Film, which is owned by Disney, and that’s really not connected at all.”

Daredevil Charlie Cox even thought they might recast DD for the MCU.

If you are just catching up with why the Marvel movies and Marvel TV (and comics) are so far apart, it seems the blame is to lie with eccentric Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter and his comic creative committe (which runs Marvel TV and comics).

Spider-Man: Homecoming Rumors Includes Costume, Villain & Robert Downey Jr.

Following the news that Michael Keaton is back in talks to play the villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming, a new set of rumors has hit the net.

According to JoBlo, the main villain of Spider-Man: Homecoming is the Vulture.

It’s also said a secondary villain will be The Tinkerer, who helps the Vulture create his suit with recovered Chitauri tech from the first Avengers movie.

Regarding the role that Robert Downey Jr. will play, it’s said it will be more of a mentor role, and one that sees Tony offer further upgrades to the Spider-Man costume.

The big upgrade Stark is said to give Peter is straight out of the comics: The Web Wings, which Spider-Man can deploy as needed (though I believe in the comics they actually served no purpose).

Spider-Man: Homecoming has a July 7, 2017 release directed by Jon Watts starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Spider-Man, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, with Zendaya, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori.

A batch of rumors regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have hit the net, which includes Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: RagnaorkDoctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and more.

I took a quick glace, and some of them are news already known or speculated about, but it’s still fun to check out.

I think these come from 4chan (via reddit):

Mads Mikkelsen is playing Dr. Anthony Druid in DOCTOR STRANGE. He’s the main villain. Amy Landecker and Scott Adkins are playing his followers. Michael Stuhlbarg is playing a LHC scientist who assists Doctor Druid. Dormammu is referenced.

Kurt Russell is playing Stakar in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. He’s Star-Lord’s father and the main villain. Secondary villains include Tullk and Taserface. Ego, the Living Planet, will appear, and they’re scouting high-profile actors to voice him.

Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone and Christopher Lloyd have minor roles in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2.

The main villains of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING are Norman Osborn and the Vulture, with appearances by Spencer Smythe and Miles Warren.

Michael Keaton was approached to play Osborn, but declined because he didn’t want to commit to a multi-picture contract. Other actors are now being approached, including Jason Clarke and Dougray Scott.

Mark Rylance has been approached about playing the Vulture and Gary Oldman is in negotiations to play Smythe. Andrew McCarthy is in early talks to play Warren.

Peter won’t have a prominent love interest in the first movie, although he will have a crush on Liz Allan, who is being played by Laura Harrier. Flash Thompson will also appear, with Blake Jenner in talks to play him. Daniel Zovatto and Charlie Rowe are in talks to play Harry Osborn.

THOR: RAGNAROK will feature Cate Blanchett as Hela and Surtur will be unleashed in the third actor. Josh Brolin will have an appearance as Thanos that leads directly into AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

Tessa Thompson is indeed playing Broomhilde, the warrior valkyrie. She is Thor’s new romantic interest. It will be established Thor and Jane Foster’s relationship ended on amicable terms due to his responsabilities as the guardian of the Nine Realms preventing them from committing to a life together.

Villains of BLACK PANTHER are High Priest Achebe, Ulysses Klaue and M’Baku. Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Klaw. Martin Freeman is also reprising his role as Everett Ross.

Black Panther’s love interest will be Monica Lynne, reinvented as a political envoy employed by Ross. Other supporting characters are Shuri, T’Challa’s sister; N’Gassi, the royal advisor; Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje; Adenbi, Achebe’s loyal follower; and Jack Truman, Lynne’s handler.

Casting is still in early stages, but Marvel has already named Michael Jai White as one of the frontrunners for M’Baku, and had meetings with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nicole Beharie, Yaya DaCosta and Sharol Leal for the lead female roles, either Lynne or Shuri or both.

Carol Danvers will appear in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR before CAPTAIN MARVEL, and Emily Blunt is lined up to play her. Emily Carmichel in talks to direct.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PART 1 will be renamed. First draft has recently been delivered. Apparently set on Earth and centered on the assembly of the Infinity Gauntlet.

CAPTAIN MARVEL will feature the Kree as villains. Not much is set.

ANT-MAN & THE WASP will feature the return of Janet Van Dyne and Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne fighting an old enemy of Hank Pym’s past familiar with the Quantum Realm, but his identity hasn’t yet been determined.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PART 2 will be set in Space and feature the final battle against Thanos.

INHUMANS will most likely be scrapped.

Chris Evans is expected to renew his contract for more CAPTAIN AMERICA movies in Phase 4. Robert Downey Jr., however, is not. although there’s renewed interest in IRON MAN 4 lately.

Sequels for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, DOCTOR STRANGE, BLACK PANTHER and SPIDER-MAN already in discussions. They’re being optimistic, but more reserved with CAPTAIN MARVEL.

SECRET INVASION and SIEGE are popular storylines that are being considered as overarching storylines of Phase 4 and beyond.

There is a plan for the potential return of the Fantastic Four to the MCU. However, there are no contigencies for the X-Men, which are unlikely to ever return. There is interest in Namor, too.

There is interest in the Sentry, Spider-Woman, Hercules, Photon, Nova. the Young Avengers and the Thunderbolts for Phase 4 and beyond.

Blade, Moon Knight and Ghost Rider are being lined-up for Netflix shows.

BLACK WIDOW is actually of interest, but likely won’t happen in phase 3. Likewise, there’s been debate about a standalone WINTER SOLDIER movie.

There’s a running gag about producing a Supreme Squadron movie, but chances of it actually happening are virtually zero.
