Bryan Singer Teases Mutant Fight Club For X-Men: Apocalypse

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21660:]]

Bryan Singer has posted a new set image from X-Men: Apocalypse that harkens back all the way to 1982 in Berlin.

Singer tagged the posted with “Fight Club,” “Ben Hardy” and “Angel,” in which we see what appears to be Hardy as Angel on the left, maybe the promoter/announcer on the right and the cage where the fight takes place. Interestingly enough, back in Singer’s original X-Men from 2000, Hugh Jackman was introduced as Wolverine in a similar scene. Jackman is not confirmed for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Singer also posted a pic of what may be the X-Men costumes.

Fantastic Four & X-Men Exist In Different Universes

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21443:]]

About two weeks ago saw Bryan Singer confirm that talks are underway about a possible Fantastic Four / X-Men crossover movie.

While Singer admitted ideas are in play, now it’s learned the Fantastic Four and X-Men actually exist in two different universes — meaning no mutants in FF, and no FF in X-Men.

Fox producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker sent the NY Daily News the following in an email:

They exist in parallel universes. The Fantastic 4 live in a world without mutants. And the X-Men live in a world without the Fantastic 4.

Whille the Fantastic Four and X-Men do exist in different worlds, the producers still did state they would like to see the characters together on the big screen one day.

Crossing them over would be challenging, but we sure would love to see all those actors together, the way we had them on stage at [San Diego] Comic Con.

Singer previously mentioned if the crossover ever happened “time” would be involved.

Regarding no FF and X-Men shared universe, Hollywood producer Adi Shankar recently brought up a good point, which is that Fox missed the boat on showcasing how differently the public would treat the Fantastic Four (super-powered individuals or heroes) compared to the mutants (i.e. bad) of the X-Men.

Fox Hopeful About Live-Action X-Men TV Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21631:]]

Word first hit back in January that Fox was negotiating with Marvel for a live-action X-Men series.

Now we get an update from the Television Critics Association press tour as THR caught up woth Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden.

“[For] X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing,” Walden offered.

As was previously mentioned, the potential live-action X-Men series is currently being written by the Star Trek Beyond writing team of Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne; 24‘s Evan Katz and Manny Coto will serve as showrunners.

While Fox does own the movie rights to X-Men, Marvel and Disney would need to sign off on the deal for an X-Men TV series, with Walden noting the characters featured in the live-action X-Men series would be the characters exclusive to Fox.

“The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney,” Walden said. “This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.”

It’s further reported that Walden said their intent is for the X-Men series to be “long-running,” and not short term.

Star Trek and X-Men’s Patrick Stewart stars in a new series coming to Starz this month with Blunt Talk.

Check out the trailer above.

Blunt Talk follows Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering American nightly cable news and his mostly misguided decision-making, on and off the air.

The series premieres August 22 9P ET/PT.

Info:

“Blunt Talk,” a 10-episode half-hour series, set in Los Angeles, follows Walter Blunt, played by Patrick Stewart, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. New X-Men: Apocalypse Images & Details

New images and details for X-Men: Apocalypse come from the latest issue of Empire Magazine.

On the look of Apocalypse in the comics, Bryan Singer offers:

“He’ll be very similar to images in the comic. There’s obviously something very futuristic and yet ancient to the design of both his costume and his physicality.”

On Quicksilver:

“You can’t have him run around a kitchen in the Pentagon again. But I can incorporate him into the movie in a much more appropriate and integral way.”

On Magneto:

“Magneto is a guy that plays both side. It depends on the day of the week. When we first meet him here, he’s hung up his cape and he’s fallen in love and had a family. His motives are in some ways justifiable, it’s just his methods that are questionable.”

Channing Tatum Said To Be Leaving Gambit

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21517:]]

It’s being reported the Gambit movie is in jeapardy of falling apart as Channing Tatum is planning on leaving the movie.

The Gambit movie has been talked about and in the works for the past couple of years with Tatum rather enthusiastic about the movie while speaking about it in interviews.

The Wrap reports that it’s unknown why exactly Channing Tatum plans on leaving Gambit other than stating sources have filled them in that “something is up” with it suggested Tatum may have his eye set on bigger projects that may include directing.

It’s said director Rupert Wyatt may need to cast another leading man for the role of Gambit. The studios has currently been testing young actresses as the female lead, including Lea Seydoux.

It’s suggested that Tatum could possibly stay on board Gambit in a producing capacity, but that is unknown as well.

The news comes as a surprise as Tatum recently appeared at Comic-Con with Bryan Singer and the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse. In addition, Gambit has a planned October 7, 2016 release, so it needs to begin filming soon.

Bryan Singer Confirms X-Men & Fantastic Four Movie Talks

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21443:]]

A crossover movie with the X-Men and Fantastic Four has been rumored for quite some time, with it also leaked that Fox is planning a movie via the Sony e-mail hacks.

Now X-Men director Bryan Singer admits talks are currently going on.

“Those ideas are in play,” Singer told Yahoo movies. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.”

Singer also teased how they will bring the two teams together.

“It deals with time,” Singer said. “That’s all I’m going to say.”

While talks are underway, a Fantastic Four X-Men movie is not guaranteed because it depends on the success of next month’s Fantastic Four movie as well as X-Men: Apocalypse next year.

“We’ll have to see how the films turn out,” Singer offered. “To just say you’re going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that.”

Bigger & Better Quicksilver Scene Coming For X-Men: Apocalypse

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21430:]]

Evan Peters was the scene-stealer in X-Men: Days Of Future Past as his Quicksilver quickly won fans over; now it’s learned X-Men: Apocalypse will feature an even bigger and better Quicksilver scene as MTV caught up with Peters.

“Well, yeah, it’s always difficult to try to top something like that. The special effects guys, man, they absolutely nailed that and did a fantastic job on it. This year we’re working on something that’s bigger and better, keeping the same elements that worked, then adding a few new ones. I’m really excited to see it all cut together, and I’m excited for people to see it, too. I think it’s going to be a really fun sequence in what is going to be a massive X-Men movie. New Oscar Isaac Apocalypse Image

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21407:]]

Take a new look at Oscar Isaac above as Apocalypse from X-Men: Apocalypse.

EW debuted the image along with the following details:

Plot:

Apocalypse is unearthed after 5,000 years and recruits four mutants—Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel (Ben Hardy)—to reboot the world through destruction.

Oscar Isaac talking comics:

“I grew up reading the comics and I actually collected X Factor when I was younger and that was when Apocalypse first showed up,” the actor told EW on the set of Apocalypse. “And I was particularly freaked out with like the second coming and the end of the world, the apocalypse, so when there was a character that embodied that, and even from Sunday school, I remember the four horsemen and all that kind of imagery that’s still to this day some of the scariest imagery I can think of.”

On the look of Apocalypse:

“We had to do some adjustments here and there and be like, alright, maybe this is too alien,” says Isaac, who endures two hours of makeup for the look. “He also is someone who people would want to follow and not just be terrified of. So the balance, and then making sure that there’s some great elements from the comic but also making our own thing as well. In the comic, he generally is like 12 feet, 600 pounds.”

Teases a big final battle:

“I mean that last battle is going to be pretty insane. I mean, it’s like freaking Apocalypse fighting all of the X-Men. It’s pretty cool.”

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Isaac.

Apocalypse Twitter Reactions

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21399:]]

Maybe Marvel CEO billionaire extraordinaire Ike Perlmutter was on to something when he cancelled Fox Marvel merchandise and put the kibosh on the comics. It’s not unfathomable to think that Perlmutter has inside info in regards to the Marvel Fox properties – X-Men and Fantastic Four – so it’s possible when he learned just how potentially bad Fox is using the Marvel characters, he decided to stop promoting them.

Case in point is the recently released X-Men: Apocalypse images which reveal Apocalypse as Ivan Ooze, the Power Rangers villain.

Case in point #2 would be the Fantastic Four‘s Thing without a costume and seemingly naked (or minus any male parts).

What’s that? Deadpool, you ask? Deadpool is a success (so far) because the Fox executives don’t/didn’t really care about it, gave it a small budget, and let Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds do whatever they basically wanted to do. However, that might all change when Deadpool becomes a success. Just keep Singer away from it, and Deadpool might stand a chance.

It turns out I’m not the only one that is horrified by the Apocalypse design. Let’s head to the land of the trolls for more reactions.

Ryan Reynolds Wants Deadpool & Cable X-Force Movie (Video)

Hopefully when Fox finally realizes how big Deadpool is we will get a lot more of the Merc With The Mouth.

A while back there was talk of an X-Force movie, but the film seems to have been swept under the rug, at least for the time being.

Now while appearing at Comic-Con, Ryan Reynolds is asked about a crossover between Deadpool and the X-Men, where the actor states he would like to see an X-Force movie.

“I feel so bad for them if we do that,” Reynolds responds with a laugh to Yahoo when asked if we’ll ever see Deadpool crossover with the X-Men. “It’s a tough transition, but I know there is a plan. I personally would love to see an X-Force film brought to the forefront. I think that’s a great way to expand that universe–the Deadpool universe a little bit. [It] also introduces Cable and all these other great characters that come along with that.”

Reynolds continues with mention Deadpool appearing in an X-Men movie would need to be done carefully.

“As far as [Deadpool] just showing up in an X-Men movie, I don’t know. It’s totally doable, you just have to be careful about how meta you are in those moments. He’s aware that he’s in a comic book, he’s aware that he’s played by another person. So you just have to be kind of careful how you do it, but I don’t see why not.”

“Deadpool” has a February 12, 2016 release directed by Tim Miller starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax.

Synopsis:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Bryan Singer Hints At Original X-Men Costumes For “Apocalypse”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21373:]]

The costumes for the X-Men in X-Men: Apcocalypse look to be going closer to their more colorful comic book counterparts than ever before.

Bryan Singer participated in an interview over at Yahoo where he offered the following:

The X-Men are sort of a fighting team, so it was always an attempt at being realistic to have them in fighting uniforms, flight suits, things like that. In X-Men: First Class, which I produced and wrote the story for, we hark back to the original colors of the original costumes from the 1963 comics, which were all the same, they were uniforms. They eventually involved into the colors.

I will say that in X-Men: Apocalypse, there is a chance – without giving anything away – that you may get closer to seeing what I think, you are interested in seeing. I know its something that I’ve been interested in. I just always wanted to do it the right way.

Singer also says the new younger versions of the characters are different than the preceding films:

These are very different characters than they were in the films X-Men 1, 2, and 3. They are at times in their lives when they are at the most opposite of what they would become. That’s a thrill to me, to take characters I crafted so many years ago and flip them completely on their side and show how they evolved and began.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.

Movie Studios Holding Out New Footage Over Leaks At Cons? That’s BS

Suicide Squad Trailer

Can’t bite my tongue on this one guys…

The past couple of days saw the Hollywood trade news site Deadline (owned by Jay Penske, son of billionaire Roger Penske, and owner of Variety and TVLine) report that the movie studios are considering not releasing any more footage following the “leaks” that occurred this past weekend at Comic-Con.

Deadline went even so far as to call the fans that recorded the footage “copyright-thieving weasels,”– but we guess it’s okay when a rival site like THR posts an exclusive, and then ten minutes later Deadline reports the same thing without giving credit (lol).

While Deadline doesn’t cite specific sources that state the movie studios are not considering releasing new footage, they state: “Insiders said that this breach of etiquette might carry consequences at future Comic-Cons.”

I’m going to have to call complete BS on this one, guys.

I do know that studios intentionally leak stuff themselves (such as the Man of Steel shirtless Henry Cavill set pics), and they will even leak stuff intentionally to make sure the images are of high quality and not a paparazzi shot from a distance or a low quality fan pic.

I don’t know if they leaked the Comic-Con footage, but last year’s Batman Vs. Superman leaked trailer that went viral looked pretty obvious as some guy was holding up his camera high in the air seemingly near a doorway.

Regardless what’s what, we do know leaking stuff is beneficial; so to say, for example, that “Fox might not show any more footage at the SDCC” is ridiculous as even Ryan Reynolds, at this past Comic-Con, thanked the “asshole” who first leaked the Deadpool test footage as that is why the movie is now being made and why they are all at the Con.

In Deadline’s latest article on the leaks, they state WB couldn’t keep up with all the pirates out there, so they decided to release the Suicide Squad trailer.

That’s more BS.

How do I know? About an hour following the release of the official Suicide Squad trailer, the leaked version was taken down. Obviously, WB let the leaked version stay up for the free PR (guessing millions of dollars worth), and then went with the official version. So in essence, WB gets to release the Suicide Squad trailer twice (can’t go wrong there).

It’s not like the leak hurt the number of views for the official Suicide Squad trailer as it is (probably increased them due to the hype). Last I checked, on Facebook the Suicide Squad trailer has 6.7 million views, and on YouTube it’s at 3.9 million — and that doesn’t even include views by sites that use their own player.

I’m not sure why Deadline is trying to spin this – unless it’s just to add more hype – but hey, it is working and the fans are pretty happy, which in the long run makes the studios happy.

Why so serious, guys?

Update: Ironically enough, Deadline’s sister site, Variety, releases an interview with Ryan Reynolds who states the Deadpool leak is a gift from God.

However, cast mate James McCoy quickly adds Olivia Munn is lubed with KY Jelly to fit into her Psylocke costume.

It’s probably better if you hear it from Olivia Munn’s own lips, so check out the video above.

X-Men: Apocalypse has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.
