Expanding on today’s earlier report about the plot details and horror film aspect of the Josh Boone X-Men: New Mutants movie, THR now has further details about Rosario Dawson’s involvement.
According to the report, Rosario Dawson is in talks to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes: “a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself. The character assumes a mentor role for the group of fledgling heroes.”
Contrary to an earlier rumor, it’s further said that James McAvoy’s Professor X and Alexandra Shipp’s Storm are not in the X-Men: New Mutants script and will not be appearing in the movie (look for them in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, most likely).
Further casting details include Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams as Illyana Rasputin aka Wolfsbane, “a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf,” and Split actress Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, “a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel.”
New Mutants looks to film this Summer for its April 13, 2018 release.
Rosario Dawson also plays a nurse in the unrelated Marvel Netflix shows.
