With Deadpool & Wolverine blowing up the multiverse, fans are already asking what’s next. And the biggest question? Whether Deadpool joins the Avengers in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Officially, Marvel hasn’t said a word. But the clues are stacking up and Wade Wilson might just be one of the last mutants standing when the dust settles. Both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have already been rumored.

Deadpool & Wolverine Is a Multiverse Setup
While Deadpool & Wolverine isn’t technically part of the Avengers franchise, it’s deeply tied to the multiverse storyline that will culminate in Avengers: Secret Wars:
- The TVA is involved
- The film jumps timelines
- Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine crosses over into the MCU
- Deadpool is now aware of the MCU’s rules (and ready to break them)
Marvel has used similar setups before — Spider-Man in No Way Home, Loki in Quantumania — to lead into crossover events.

TVA Returning in Avengers: Doomsday
A recent Avengers: Doomsday set leak reportedly shows TVA agents on site, confirming that the organization will factor into the next Avengers movie. That cements the TVA as a central part of Marvel’s Phase 6 arc, and makes it even more likely that Deadpool will continue to be involved.
If the TVA is monitoring incursions and manipulating timelines, Deadpool’s presence becomes even more significant. He’s now tied to them directly thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine.

Secret Wars Needs a Wildcard
Secret Wars is expected to feature:
- Multiple timelines and variants
- Legacy characters from Fox, Sony, and early MCU
- A chaotic battle royale between multiverse factions
- At least 27 Marvel characters
Deadpool fits perfectly.
He can interact with characters from any universe, break the fourth wall, and offer a comedic counter to the more serious stakes, just like he did in Deadpool 2 and now with Wolverine.
And while Reynolds has said if Deadpool becomes an Avenger “we’re at the end,” that doesn’t necessarily mean Deadpool can’t fight alongside The Avengers.

Ryan Reynolds Isn’t Done Yet
Even though Marvel reportedly has no immediate plans for Deadpool 4, Ryan Reynolds has confirmed he’s developing another Deadpool project (possibly Uncanny X-Force?). And according to the reports, he wants the character to play a supporting role going forward, not necessarily star in solo movies.
Secret Wars would be the ideal vehicle for that.
Reynolds could cameo, drop a few meta jokes, kill off some variants, and walk away, or stick around as the “new Nick Fury” of the mutants. Either way, it’s flexible.

Could Deadpool Lead the Mutants?
The biggest question isn’t just whether he’ll appear, it’s what role he’ll play.
Marvel still hasn’t introduced the MCU’s X-Men. That is happening post-Secret Wars, and Deadpool may be one of the few characters who bridges the Fox era with the rebooted MCU.
Some fans think Wade could be the connective tissue between old and new, bringing in a few faces along for the ride (Cable, Domino, maybe even Colossus).

So Will Deadpool Show Up or Not?
There’s no official word yet. But between Deadpool & Wolverine, the TVA’s expanding role, and Marvel’s love of cameos, don’t be surprised if Wade Wilson shows up in Secret Wars. He might not be leading the Avengers. But he’ll absolutely be making fun of them.
