Disney Takedowns Confirm Avengers: Doomsday Leak Chaos: Doom, X-Men, More

The Avengers: Doomsday leak saga just hit the moment that settles the biggest question hanging over it.

After days of fans arguing whether the footage was real or an elaborate AI fake, Disney has apparently answered for them, by coming after it.

The Takedowns Are the Confirmation

Today, a much higher-quality version of the now-infamous scene — the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four assembling against Doctor Doom’s Sentinels — surfaced on X.

Within hours, the posts hosting it started getting hit with copyright strikes, replaced by the now-familiar “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner” notice.

As we laid out when Marvel’s silence had fans doubting the footage, a studio issuing takedowns is effectively a confirmation the material is real; Disney’s legal team doesn’t burn resources scrubbing fan-made AI.

The strikes that were conspicuously missing a few days ago have now arrived in force, across multiple high-traffic posts.

What the Clearer Footage Shows

The upgraded version gives the best look yet at the crossover melee: Doctor Doom commanding his comic-accurate Sentinels, with heroes including Thor, Steve Rogers, Yelena, Shang-Chi, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Mister Fantastic in the fray.

Eagle-eyed fans on the clearer cut even claim Cyclops can be seen mouthing his classic rallying cry, “To me, my X-Men.”

One important caveat on quality: the footage clearly contains unfinished VFX, which explains why some of the cinematography looks slightly off.

That’s normal for a film still months from release, and worth remembering, because it means anything you’re seeing is a work in progress, not the final cut.

Also worth noting is that alleged leaks online could be using AI to copy and/or upscale them, so those might not be legit. The copyright notices haven’t hit Reddit (yes?), so those could be fakes, AI-based on the legit leaks. More on that below.

A Word on the “First Look” Doom Stills

Riding alongside the video is a wave of crisp, dramatic still images — a cloaked Doctor Doom on a staircase, sharp character portraits — being passed around as a “first look.”

Treat these with more caution than the video.

Several are flagged as “alleged” even by the accounts posting them as one leaker openly admitted, “I can’t confirm whether this is real or not.”

And a number of the cleaner stills show the tell-tale signs of AI upscaling: that slightly waxy, too-smooth quality you get when someone runs a blurry frame through an enhancer, which invents detail rather than recovering it.

The video is confirmed by Disney’s takedowns. The pretty stills aren’t, and the fine details on them shouldn’t be taken as gospel.

The Plant Theory — and Why It’s Tempting

One theory making the rounds deserves a mention: that Marvel itself is behind some of this, seeding low-quality “leaks” to build buzz and gauge reaction.

Fans point to the suspiciously low resolution — no modern camera shoots that badly — and the sheer volume of material.

It’s not a crazy thought in 2026, when the line between leak and marketing has blurred.

But the copyright takedowns cut against it: if Disney were planting this to drum up hype, it wouldn’t simultaneously be filing reports to pull it down. Of course, that in itself does create more hype.

Notably, there are also rumblings the Russos trimmed some “over the top” ideas in reshoots, including how the Avengers-vs-New Avengers clash plays out, a reminder that the movie is still in flux regardless of what any leak shows.

Where It Leaves Us

For two weeks, the Doomsday leak story has been a fog of “is it real?”

The core assembly footage is real enough that the studio is actively hunting it down, which means fans have, like it or not, now seen a genuine (if unfinished) piece of the MCU’s biggest crossover.

The trailer Marvel has guarded since CinemaCon is the one thing still under wraps. Given how this week has gone, that may not last either.
