Speculation: First Look At Tom Holland Spider-Man Could Come During Super Bowl

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24148:]]

When will Disney and Marvel reveal the first look at the new Tom Holland Spider-Man?

How about this Sunday during the Super Bowl?

It’s just a wild guess on my part, but Marvel and Coke just announced a joint promotion which will see a 60-second spot released during the second quarter of the Super Bowl.

While that may not be enough to justify my theory of Spider-Man appearing during the Big Game, the week of this Sunday happens to mark a year ago that Disney officially announced Spider-Man back at Marvel.

The Spider-Man announcement actually came on Tuesday, February 9, 2015, but Sunday seems like a better “one year anniversary” option to reveal Spidey, wouldn’t you say?

Tom Holland is first set to appear in Captain America: Civil War on May 6th, followed by the standalone Spider-Man film, which has a new release date of July 7, 2017.

It’s even possible we may see Tom Holland for a second time prior to the Spider-Man movie as Holland has been spotted on the set of Marvel’s Doctor Strange, which hits later this year after Captain America: Civil War on November 4th.

Marvel Comics Dead No More Teaser #2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24009:]]

Following the first teaser from two weeks ago, Marvel Comics has now revealed a second “Dead No More” teaser with additional information.

Included with the above image was the following:

“If you got a chance to bring back someone who died, would you? And how will CLASSIFIED deal when ones they thought long dead once again walk the earth?”

It’s also been revealed the answer to the teaser will happen with Marvel’s FCBD issue which will feature a lead-in to the new Captain America: Steve Rogers comic, with the other half of the FCBD issue featuring the “Dead No More” answer.

The teaser above seems to hint at a Spider-Man connection, but it could be just that – a teaser – with most likely Marvel releasing similar style teasers for other characters in the coming weeks.

Obviously, if we had a say in the matter, we would bring back Richard Rider as Nova (and yeah, we still consider Star-Lord dead, too).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23966:]]

Marvel Studios producer Louis D’Esposito has taken to Twitter to offer a look at new Spider-Man Tom Holland.

“I run into [Tom Holland] in the craziest places,” D’Esposito tweeted.

The two appear to be on the set of a movie, possibly Captain America: Civil War or maybe even Doctor Strange as Holland was previously spotted on set.

Maybe the two are inside an Avengers Quinjet?

Holland also appears to have bruising on the right side of his face. The actor previously let it be known he fell during filming of Civil War and injured his face.

Tom Holland is set to first appear in Captain America: Civil War followed by the standalone Spider-Man movie.

Russo Brothers Tweet Out New Possible Captain: Civil War Related Image

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23910:]]

Following the ABC Captain America 75th Anniversary special, now the “Russo Brothers” Twitter has tweeted out a possible new image that connects to Captain America: Civil War or even Spider-Man.

The Twitter account is not confirmed to be official, but James Gunn did delete a tweet stating it was a fake (which probably means the account is related to promoting the movie).

Taking a look at the image below, obviously the first guess might be some sort of star. Perhaps on Captain America’s shield? However, the star on Cap’s shield is surrounded by blue, not red. There also looks to be a line of blue going through the bottom of the white part of whatever the image is. Maybe the paint gets messed up in a battle with Iron Man? Or perhaps this is an image of a patch or part of someone’s costume?

The Russo Brother Twitter did seemingly tease the Spider-Man costume, maybe this is related? Any ideas?

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Captain America: Civil War Spider-Man Introduction Rumored

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23836:]]

A new rumor has hit the net regarding details on how Spider-Man will be introduced in Captain America: Civil War.

From the Ant-Man movie (“we got guys who climb up walls”) and interviews with Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers, it’s already known that the Tom Holland Spider-Man will be established in the MCU (no more origin stories).

Now the website Geek.com is possibly providing further details.

According to a source in the know, Peter Parker decides to fight crime as Spider-Man because he is a big fan and idolizes Tony Stark/ Iron Man. It’s said Captain America: Civil War takes place ten years or so after the first Iron Man movie, so Peter would have been 5 years old when he first saw the news broadcasts about Iron Man.

It’s further said Tony Stark has been keeping tabs on “a certain young genius and his superhuman abilities” and goes to Peter Parker to recruit him with an offer of an “advanced Spider-suit to fight in,” which is an upgrade from whatever the 15-year-old Peter Parker has been wearing. Obviously as Peter is such a big fan, he is completely in awe of Tony Stark showing up at his door and accepts the offer.

We can even speculate that further evidence to support the theory/rumor comes from the viral marketing surrounding Ant-Man as the [fictional] WHiH news reports mentioned Tony Stark setting up scholarships for “promising students” in urban schools (i.e. Peter Parker).

Bring Back JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson For Spider-Man Reboot Launched

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23803:]]

A petition has been launched to bring back J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in future Marvel and Spider-Man movies.

Simmons played the character in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films.

Almost a year ago saw J.K. Simmons appear on the Howard Stern Show where the fan-favorite actor stated he would like to return.

“Absolutely,” Simmons responded when questioned if he would play J. Jonah Jameson again.

Marvel and Sony are currently rebooting Spider-Man with Tom Holland who will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, followed up possibly by a Doctor Strange appearance, and then the 2017 Spider-Man standalone movie.

You can head on over to Change.org to voice your support for the return of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

It is without a doubt that casting JK Simmons in the role of J.Jonah Jameson was another perfect casting choice just like RDJ as Tony Stark. He was just so damn perfect in the original Raimi trilogy and to use anyone else is absurd. They didn’t even dare try recasting him in the Mark Webb reboot and only had a cameo as an email?!? That’s because they know that it’s impossible to get anyone else for this role and even though JK is 61 years old now, age doesn’t matter since he wont do much physical action and it would be the right first step into introducing us to the new Spider-Man.

Yes, I am very serious.

Anthony & Joe Russo Talk Black Panther & Spider-Man Sides In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23779:]]

While speaking with the foreign press about Captain America: Civil War, Anthony and Joe Russo were asked about Black Panther and Spider-Man, with it brought up the characters are similar in that they aren’t directly connected to The Avengers. The Russo brothers talk about the sides the characters may or may not choose in addition to letting it be known when Spider-Man gets introduced in the film.

“They both have a special place in Civil War because of the reasons you’re saying,” Anthony Russo offered. “They don’t fall neatly into either side.”

“For the emotional reasons that Tony and Cap do,” Joe Russo added.

On Black Panther:

“Black Panther is one of our favorite characters in the movie because he is on his own side in this film,” Anthony Russo said. “He’s not aligned with either side, and he has his own road forward with the movie that’s very central to the plot of the film – like he’s very invested emotionally – but it doesn’t fall into clean sides.”

On Spider-Man:

“Spider-Man, similarly, enters the movie after the Avengers pick sides,” Anthony Russo continued. “He doesn’t have a huge investment politically, but he develops a very personal relationship why he picks a side. I won’t talk about the personal relationship he develops. It’s very interesting. Very Cool. One of the most special parts of the movie.”

The Russo’s also smiled and responded “I don’t know” when asked if we’ll ever get a glimpse of Spider-Man before Captain America: Civil War.

“Who knows. Who can say,” Joe Russo teased with a grin.

“Captain America: Civil War” has a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Captain America: Civil War Spider-Man Costume & Scene Description Lands Online

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23775:]]

In addition to a possible first look at Spidey merchandise, a potential description for Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War lands online.

A redditor posted some Atlanta set images from Captain America: Civil War in which he states Spider-Man was in involved. The description appears to be from early filming as it’s noted Tom Holland wasn’t apparently cast, and they may have been using a placeholder costume.

We do see the scene may involve both Captain America and Falcon, and Iron Man even gets a mention.

Hello! I am the previously described friend.

To be more accurate, Spidey wasn’t in the scene they were filming outside my place, but they were reviewing VFX work on a macbook pro after filming for the day.

I only knew they were VFX shots because the guys were doing things that were impossible to be filmed on the day (Cap throwing his shield at a full IronMan suit flying in the air, etc) and from my admittedly distant view, it looked photoreal and not an animatic.

After the action beats, there were several shots of Spidey sitting or standing on the edge of a building next to (I believe) Ironman and several other super heroes. He was visibly shorter than everyone which was a pretty cool look. You could really tell he was a kid. Overall the suit looked pretty similar to the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spiderman 2 outfit with the large comic-booky eyes, except this time they were extremely reflective. I’ve since read rumors about him having goggles, but from what I saw they were the same large spidey-shape we’re used to, and there was no visible strap around his head. It makes sense that they could be reflective glass, though. (Basically chrome eyes – not white or matte silver.) The only reason why this stuck out to me was because Spidey’s eyes were reflecting the setting sun.

But take all of this with a grain of salt as far as final designs go. At that time they had flown multiple actors out here for screen-tests, so no one had been locked down as Spider-Man yet. Plus with the other obvious-CG shots, I’m assuming the outfit I saw was fully CG, and could just be a placeholder. (Like I said, from what little I saw, it looked a lot like the 2nd Garfield Spider-Man movie, which admittedly is extremely close to the comic design.)

Anyway, as proof, here’s two shots I took earlier in the day.

The only thing really sticking out to me are those patches on the arms. I didn’t catch that at all from what I saw. Basically the only takeaway I had at the time is that the general shapes were very much the Spidey we know. It wasn’t the weird tapered swirly basketball crap from Amazing 1, nor was it a patched together costume a kid would make. The eye size was comparable to the last Andrew Garfield film, but were highly reflective like glass. All in all it just looked like a good Spider-Man….just one a good couple of inches shorter than the rest of the Avengers. I didn’t see anything lower than his hips, I think, so I don’t know if he had shoe soles or anything like that for his feet. Truthfully if my buddy didn’t bring it up in this thread, I really wouldn’t have chatted on the internet about it because there isn’t a whole lot different about the overall design from what I could make out. It was just cool to see Spider-Man. 🙂

Scene said to have filmed in this building in Atlanta:

Frank Grillo Reveals Potential Captain America: Civil War Spoiler

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23736:]]

The Wizard World New Orleans comic-con featured a Captain America: Civil War panel with Frank Grillo being a member.

During the audience Q&A, the panel was asked if there was a scene they wanted to film, but haven’t been able to yet.

Frank Grillo responded by stating, “I would like to kill Captain America.”

This is potentially a spoiler as if Grillo didn’t film the scene, we then know Crossbones doesn’t kill Captain America in Civil War.

Anthony and Joe Russo were quick to follow up Grillo’s comments with:

“We may or may not have filmed that scene, though,” Joe Russo stated.

Anthony Russo added, “She said a scene that you haven’t done.”

Earlier in the panel also saw Frank Grillo talk his relationship with Captain America and state he thinks the Crossbones costume is the best.

“In the first film, I was friends with him [Captain America],” Grillo offered. “You know, there was this moral problem I was having, but not in the second one [smiles]. I have a clear cut mission.

“I got to tell you, when I saw the costume, when it was done, to me – I know you guys all have these fancy costumes and stuff – I think Crossbones has the baddest costume of everybody,” Grillo said.

Grillo also told the audience the characteristic from Crossbones that he would want in everyday life.

“I would be homicidal,” Grillo joked, to the delight of the crowd, which erupted in laughter.

Update: Grillo also offers up what Marvel character he would like to interact with that he hasn’t, which offers another potential Civil War spoiler.

“Spider-Man. I love Spider-Man,” Grillo said.

Joe Russo then questioned, “You haven’t interacted with Spider-Man,” to which Grillo joked, “I have interacted with Spider-Man. It’s none of your business.” The Russo brothers and everyone can then be seen laughing.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

First Look At Spider-Man Costume In Captain America: Civil War Coming Soon?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23702:]]

This is pure speculation on my part, but Marvel may be revealing a first look at Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War by January 15th.

It’s learned new Spider-Man merchandise is under embargo until the 15th, which is next Friday.

Merchoid.com has a listing for an officially licensed Spider-Man hoodie where it’s stated:

Ok, so here’s the deal: we have photos of the Spider-man hoodie coming very soon. We really, REALLY want to show it to you now, but we’re not allowed to just yet. Make sure you check back on the 15th January for your very first look!

With the images under embargo, it’s possible the pics of the hoodie may give clues as to the design of the new Tom Holland Spider-Man costume. Taking a quick glance at some of the related products seems to match the color schemes for the various properties (Destiny, Super Mario, Assassin’s Creed, Captain America, etc).

This also begs the question, if the site is under embargo, does that mean more Spider-Man merchandise will be released next week? And the obvious: Will Marvel reveal a look at Tom Holland’s Spider-Man costume next week?

Of course, the Spider-Man hoodie could simply have nothing to do with the movie.

What Would Stan Lee Do During A Zombie Apocalypse?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23641:]]

What would Stan “The Man” Lee do if a zombie apocalypse ever hit?!

The Marvel comics creator behind the likes of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man told Empire Magazine — he would throw a party!

“I wouldn’t go anywhere; I would stay where I was. Because I think this whole zombie thing is wrong. You see, it seems to me that if somebody was dead, and then came back to life, that person wouldn’t want to hurt anybody, he would be so happy! “Hey, look at me! I’m alive! Let’s party!” So I would hang around and wait for the next party.”

Tom Holland Spider-Man Movie Will Be Big & Spectacular

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23640:]]

Following Captain America: Civil War (and maybe Doctor Strange!), Tom Holland will appear in the new standalone Spider-Man movie in 2017.

While the movie has been described as having a John Hughes-vibe, that doesn’t necessarily mean on a small scale.

“Smaller scale is all relative,” Marvel’s Kevin Feige told Empire Magazine. “It’s going to be as big and spectacular a Spider-Man film as has ever been made. But it’s a Peter Parker story and has more opportunity to be focused on the story of a 15-ear-old kid going to high school.”

The article further notes when we meet Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Spidey is already a hero, there will be no more origin stories, and no more endless death for Uncle Ben.

“Captain America: Civil War” hits May 6, 2016; “Spider-Man” swings in July 28, 2017.

Leonardo DiCaprio Talks Turning Down Star Wars, Spider-Man & Robin

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23534:]]

In a recent interview with ShortList, Leonardo DiCaprio talked about the roles he turned down, which includes mention of the Star Wars prequels, Spider-Man and Robin.

Regarding playing Robin, which was for Batman Forever, DiCaprio said:

I never screen-tested. I had a meeting with Joel Schumacher. It was just one meeting and, no, I didn’t end up doing it.

Er, I don’t think I did, no (laughs). As I recall I took the meeting, but didn’t want to play the role. Joel Schumacher is a very talented director but I don’t think I was ready for anything like that.

On the Star Wars prequels, of which George Lucas wanted DiCaprio to play Anakin Skywalker:

I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that as well, yes.

Again, just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point.

Leonardo DiCaprio was also up to play Spider-Man for Sam Raimi prior to Tobey Maguire getting the role.

Er, that was another one of those situations, similar to Robin, where I didn’t feel ready to put on that suit yet. They got in touch with me.

No worries if you want to see Leonardo DiCaprio on the big screen in a superhero film as the actor doesn’t rule it out (Warner Bros. wanted DiCaprio to play the Riddler in The Dark Knight).

You never know. You never know. They’re getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies. I haven’t yet. But no, I don’t rule out anything.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest movie, The Revenant, gets released Janaury 8 , 2016.

Watch: Russo Bros. Asked If Captain America & Winter Soldier Are Gay By The Chinese; Talk Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23422:]]

Check out video below with the Russo Bros. taking part in an interview in China for Captain America: Civil War, where apparently the Chinese audience thinks Captain America and The Winter Soldier happen to be homosexual. The brothers are asked if the homosexual nature will continue in Captain America 3 and The Avengers 3.

On the relationship between Captain America and Winter Soldier (being homosexual?):

“People can interpret the relationship however they want to interpret it. For us, we’ve always interpreted the relationship as two brothers. They’re very close characters, they have a relationship with each other that is very deep. The bonds between the characters are very strong. That’s what motivates the storytelling. These are both characters that came from nothing. Captain America was basically an orphan, and Bucky’s family took him in… When he was sleep for several years, he lost everything that was dear to him. And when he took the serum and became Captain America, he gave away a large part of himself for a patriotic cause. So, you have a character who is searching for the only thing that he has left from his past… and that’s Bucky. And people have interpreted that relationship all kinds of ways, and it’s great to see people argue about it what that relationship means to them. We will never define it as filmmakers, explicitly, but however people want to interpret it.”

On Spider-Man:

“This is a completely new version of Spider-Man that’s introduced in Civil War. He’s played by an actor named Tom Holland. He’s a very talented actor. It was very important to us that we wanted to go young with the character because what we love about Spider-Man is that he’s still a high school student. That’s a part of his vulnerability, and it’s what makes him special in the Marvel Universe; he’s very unique. We wanted to play to that aspect of the character. We tried to think about ‘Who is Spider-Man today?’ A lot of times when you get interpretations of Spider-Man, they’re very nostalgic to the origins of the character. Sometimes there’s an old-fashioned patina to the tone of who Spider-Man is. We wanted to think about who is Spider-Man today — if he lived in Queens today, if he went there, what’s the texture of his life like, what’s the texture of his relationship with his aunt like, who he lives with. How can we make the relationship and character very contemporary? That was our goal with the character, while also making him very young and true to his highschool nature. I think that’s the fresh part of what we are doing with Spider-Man on a character level.”

On potential big things happening to major characters in Captain America 3 and Avengers 3:

“The stakes of both Civil War and the Avengers: Infinity War movies are gonna be very high, and there will be a price to pay… And that’s the whole point of cumulative storytelling. We’re going to go on emotional journeys with these characters. We’ve got a lot invested in them emotionally. We have responsibilities to be mindful of how these people feel about the characters and, at the same time, we also have a responsibility to carry through on the storytelling. As filmmakers, we believe in stakes. You can’t have good storytelling without strong stakes. So, there will be a price to pay. There will be a price to pay in Civil War. There will be characters who suffer in that movie and who come out and won’t be the same again — emotionally or physically. In Infinity Warthe stakes will be raised to a whole new level.  People should expect to be shocked when they see these movies.”

On Captain America’s new costume in Civil War:

“It is a new costume. We were trying to pull forward the work that we had done in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Cap. So, the innovations that we made to his costume in that film are very much the tonal texture that we are pulling forward into this movie. Civil War is very much connected and rooted in The Winter Soldier. So, as far as the specifics of the costume, we don’t want to give too much away, but it is a new costume slightly different from what you’ve seen before. And it’s grounded in that Winter Soldier tone and style.”

On Captain America and Black Widow:

“It was very important to us in Captain America: Winter Soldier, that relationship be platonic. That was what we thought was interesting about it. They do care very deeply for each other, but not a romantic relationship, which is the expected relationship. We wanted to play against that, but they do care very deeply for each other. I think, as much as any two characters in Avengers do. And I think you’ll see that again in Civil War. His relationship with Natasha is pivotal to the movie. I think two of the most endearing scenes in the film are between Steve and Natasha. And of course, that relationship will carry forward into Infinity War. That’s our interpretation of their relationship is that this is like a brother and sister who are work-husband and work-wife. They have a real respect for each other, but they’re very different; they admire the differences in each other, and they find a commonality in those differences.”

Tom Holland Is On The Doctor Strange Set

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23337:]]

Following Captain America: Civil War and prior to the standalone 2017 Spider-Man movie, could we see Tom Holland in Doctor Strange?

If the following image is anything to go by, it seems likely.

Marvel producer Louis D’Esposito posted the following image of himself along with new Spider-Man Tom Holland and director Scott Derrickson. D’Esposito also previously gave an inside look at Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum.

A Spider-Man appearance wouldn’t be unheard of as they both share NYC as their home base.

“Doctor Strange” has a November 4, 2016 release starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen.

Synopsis:

“Doctor Strange” follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

“Doctor Strange” is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films—is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites.
