Spider-Man: Homecoming opens to a whopping $51.2 million on Friday leading to estimations of a $120-125 million opening weekend!

The number also includes the $15.4 million from Thursday night advanced screenings.

The estimated weekend opening for Spider-Man: Homecoming absolutely crushes Sony’s estimate of around $80 million.

It’s no wonder Spider-Man: Homecoming is doing so well at the box office as the movie is getting rave reviews, has great word-of-mouth promotion, and it sits at a high 94% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will also beat out both of the Amazing Spider-Man opening weekends as the first Amazing Spider-Man netted around $92 million with the second only around $62 million.

Obviously Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are to thank for Spider-Man: Homecoming doing so well. Feige has big plans for Spider-Man that includes at the minimum five appearances in the MCU.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is directed by Jon Watts starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Synopsis:

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
