Watch: Geoff Johns Talks More About Joker Name Reveal

This past weekend at WonderCon saw DC Comics release details and images for their upcoming Rebirth event.

One of the bigger and most surprising items to come out of the announcement is that DC Comics is going to reveal the Joker’s name.

In a previous issue of Justice League, Batman asked the all-knowing Mobius Chair what is the name of the Joker. The reader wasn’t given the answer, but Batman replied with, “That’s not possible.”

Following the WonderCon announcement, IGN caught up with Geoff Johns who offered a further update about the Joker name reveal.

“We are going to find out what he heard in Darkseid War,” confirmed Johns. “And it’s going to lead to something else.”

When we first reported on the Joker reveal, our post went viral reaching nearly a million people. Many of the fans mentioned they don’t want to know the name of the Joker. Johns comments on that as well.

“But the answer probably won’t be an answer that people predict,” Johns teased with a big smile.

DC Comics “Rebirth” kicks off May 25th with an 80-page special written by Johns priced at $2.99.

Check out the video below of Geoff Johns talking Rebirth and the Joker’s name reveal, as well as Joker teaser art released at WonderCon.

DC Comics To Reveal Joker’s Real Name

Update: You can check out over 100 images and a sizzle reel for DC Comics Rebirth event.

Update #2: Geoff Johns teases more about the Joker name reveal (video).

Just announced at WonderCon, it’s revealed DC Comics will reveal Joker’s real name.

Fans will recall back in Justice League #42 when Batman sat on the Mobius Chair that he asked it two questions: Who killed his parents (answer: Joe Chill), and what is the Joker’s real name?

Batman responded, “That’s not possible.”

Well, DC never revealed the answer, but now they will.

At the big Rebirth panel at WonderCon, both Geoff Johns and artist Jason Fabok announced they are revealing what the Mobius Chair said and unleashed the following teaser art:

DC Develops Workshops For Aspiring Artists & Writers

DC Entertainment Launches New Talent Development Workshops For Aspiring Writers and Artists

In an effort to find new and aspiring comic book talent, DC Entertainment has launched Talent Development Workshops for both writers and artists, led by bestselling and acclaimed comic talent including Jim Lee, Geoff Johns, Scott Snyder, Klaus Janson and Andy Kubert. The series of workshops are designed to give access and a voice to new and prospective talent, providing an opportunity to showcase their work following intensive DC workshop sessions.

Online applications for DC’s Artists Workshop will be accepted April 1-30, 2016 while applications for the Writers Workshop will be accepted May 1-31, 2016. DC’s new Talent Development website offers extensive tips, advice and recommended reading to help potential applicants navigate the submission process. Both workshops will take place in fall 2016.

“Our goal is to identify and foster fresh, new voices,” stated DC Entertainment Co-Publisher and bestselling artist, Jim Lee. “The new DC Talent Development Workshops will play a vital role in discovering and developing the next generation of comic talent.”

“I’ve brought in a lot of new writers to DC, both from within and outside of comics, for Rebirth, working with them closely as we rebuild our universe,” stated DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns. “The creative growth of DC comes from new voices joining the mix, both writers and artists, and it’s been an absolute highlight to work with them.”

Bestselling Batman writer Scott Snyder added, “I’m so proud and honored to be heading up DC’s Writers Workshop. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and getting to help welcome and coach new voices at a company that’s given me so many creative opportunities is a tremendous thrill.”

About the Artists Workshop

The 2016 Artists Workshop was developed by DC with world-renowned artists Jim Lee, Klaus Janson and Andy Kubert and follows a successful pilot program that took place in fall 2015. Visit DCComicsTalentWorkshop.com to view artwork completed by pilot program students.

Competitive candidates will have an established portfolio of sequential art and illustrations. For the artists selected via the online submission process, the Workshop will provide the knowledge and exposure required to cross the threshold into the competitive world of comic book publishing. Chosen artists will be asked to complete art assignments that will be critiqued by several top DC Artists. If the artists achieve the level of work required for the course they will then be invited to a two-week, intensive workshop at DCE’s Burbank offices.

About the Writers Workshop

The 2016 Writers Workshop was developed by DC with bestselling writer Scott Snyder and follows a successful three-month pilot program. For selected candidates, the first part of the 2016–2017 DC Comics Writers Workshop will run October 2016–January 2017 as an online real-time, weekly interactive seminar, for thirteen consecutive weeks. Each seminar will teach a new skill essential for surviving and excelling in this highly competitive field. Following the initial Workshop, a smaller hand-selected group of those participants will be invited to DCE offices in Burbank for an intensive writing experience, featuring guest speakers currently working in comic books, including a mix of editors, writers, artists and the Talent Development staff.

Upon completion of the Master Class program, DCE’s Talent Development group will ensure successful participants are considered for positions on current DC titles.

Batman Vs. Superman Spoilers: Fight, Flash Cameo, Wonder Woman Vs. Doomsday, Darkseid & Robin

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24600:]]

EW.com‘s coverage of Batman vs. Superman offers up some spoilery teasers regarding the Batman vs. Superman fight, The Flash’s cameo, Wonder Woman battling Doomsday, the potential Robin, and even Darkseid.

Check them out:

Zack Snyder offers a partial description of the Batman Vs. Superman fight:

The director becomes animated as he reenacts their big knock-down, drag-out battle. “Superman doesn’t have to be as much of a chess player as Batman,” says Snyder. Superman has might on his side, but before the fists start flying, we see an armored Batman placing various traps in an abandoned stockyard, then walking along and driving a Kryptonite spear into the ground. “He paces it off,” Snyder says. “Then when he throws Superman, the spear is right there. So you’re like, wait a minute, did he [plan] every bit? He know every move?”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24599:]]

The Flash cameo is revealed, which also hints that the Batman nightmare sequence with Darkseid might be real (as in possibly happening in the future or another timeline):

The film is laced with dream sequences for both Batman and Superman that hint at dangers to come – including the possible appearance of DC’s galactic ultra-villain Darkseid. The Flash (played by Miller) appears in one such nightmare of Bruce Wayne’s, delivering a cryptic message to the Dark Knight.

Fans will have to debate whether it was really a dream, or maybe the kinetic hero breaking through time-space to deliver a warning. Synder calls this “a giant Easter egg” that he hopes will spawn plenty of online theories. “We had such a straightforward narrative, on one hand, I wanted this other layer of the movie to be complicated and bizarre,” he says.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24598:]]

Geoff Johns talks what he likes about Wonder Woman battling Doomsday:

When she finally wields a sword and her golden lasso later in the film, Wonder Woman shows she not only deals out punishment – she can take it, even after lying low for many decades. (Maybe that’s an accidental metaphor, now that she’s finally being pulled off the shelf and put onscreen.)

Johns points to her climactic battle with Doomsday, a Kryptonian Frankenstein-monster created by Luthor from the remains of Michael Shannon’s General Zod, as one of his favorite character moments. “I love her in the movie. I love when she’s hit by Doomsday and she turns around and smiles, like she hasn’t been in a fight like this in a long, long time,” he says. “She clearly… she missed it.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24597:]]

And the Robin suit in the Batcave:

The trailer features a Robin uniform, covered with Joker graffiti, which implies the Boy Wonder has been killed in a previous story. He’s starting to wonder if he ever really saved anyone – or just made things worse. “He’s projecting his own sense of failure, his own sense of disillusionment, his own cynicism onto Superman,” Affleck says.

But the Robin suit is another example of groundwork BvS is laying for other movies. “We’ll be exploring that,” says Johns, who has consulted on the full slate. “No one says specifically the name ofwhich Robin that is.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. Kevin Smith Says Justice League Movie Universe Crossing Over With TV A Possibility

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23982:]]

With the controversy surrounding the casting of The Flash in the Justice League movie universe, with Ezra Miller, and the TV universe, Grant Gustin, there may come a potential resolution.

Have them both appear on screen together.

While it has been said the DC movies and TV shows are separate, if you happen to be a fan of the comics, you know there is an infinite number of possibilities that could make the two connect — all we have to do is point to this season of The Flash as evidence enough as we see there are alternate universes and portals.

Kevin Smith recently co-hosted the “Dawn of the Justice League” special with DC Entertainment chief creative officer and DC comic book writer Geoff Johns. Following the special, Smith appeared on his podcast and mentioned he talked with Johns about the possibility of the DC movie universe crossing over with the TV universe, which was cut from the show (via CBR):

“We did a piece where we talked about — I don’t know how much I’m supposed to say because they cut it out,” Smith said on the podcast. “But the idea [came up] of, ‘Hey man, DC is known for nothing if not a multiverse,’ so at which point I was like [to Johns], ‘Could they fucking crossover?’ And he was like, ‘Ahh.’ So doors are being left open and stuff like that. Think about this, you can have Ezra Miller be the Flash and you could also have Grant be the Flash, because there’s a multiverse at work.”

Even Arrow‘s Stephen Amell has campaigned to appear in the movie universe and backed Gustin as The Flash. Perhaps either Part 1 or Part 2 of the Justice League movies will be some sort of adpaptation of DC’s Crisis On Infinite Earths featuring all the DC heroes on screen together?

Ezra Miller may have hinted at the possibility of a crossover as he talked about other realities in the “Dawn of the Justice League” Flash segment:

Watch: Geoff Johns Talks Green Lantern From Dawn of the Justice League Special

Noticeably absent from the Justice League concept art is none other than Green Lantern.

We already know a Green Lantern Corps movie is planned for 2020, and that’s about all we know.

Green Lantern concept art was previously released at last Summer’s Comic-Con (see below), but it still has yet to make its way officially online. Interestingly enough, the art looked a lot like Chris Pine, who recently denied GL rumors, and has a role in Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor. The “Dawn of Justice” special didn’t feature the art, either.

During tonight’s “Dawn of the Justice League” special, Kevin Smith asks DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns to fill them in about something nobody knows.

Johns said Green Lantern will be coming to the Justice League Universe.

“We’ve been to the bottom of the oceans. We’ve been to ancient Green mythology. We’ve been to the past and future of Flash. We’ve been to the digital world with Cyborg,” Johns said. “We still got to go to space. So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps will be coming to join the Justice League Universe.”

While Geoff Johns really didn’t offer much, if we take his words literally, it sounds as if the Green Lantern Corps already exists and will be making themselves known to the rest of the Justice League characters (at least that’s my understanding) some time down the road. Johns’ words also seem to confirm the rumors of more than one Earth-based Green Lantern  (as Johns says “Lanterns”).

A potential big Green Lantern spoiler recently hit the net as well.

Geoff Johns and Kevin Smith Tease Suicide Squad Trailer: “It’s F’n Impressive”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23541:]]

Earlier today saw WB announce two new DC specials, which will see a new trailer for Suicide Squad debut.

Kevin Smith is hosting the Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of the Justice League special which will feature DC Entertainment chief creative officer and writer Geoff Johns.

Now the duo have taken to Instagam to tease the arrival of the Suicide Squad trailer. In addition, Smith let it be known that the Suicide Squad trailer is “f’n impressive” on his podcast.

The Suicide Squad trailer premiers following The Flash, Tuesday, January 19th at 9pm EST on the CW (full details on the announcement can be found here which includes mention of the first Wonder Woman footage).

Kevin Smith on the podcast:

“I saw the Suicide Squad trailer and it was f—ing impressive. Like, hats off to the f—ing marketing people and the trailer I saw, the second trailer. I’m not gonna spoil anything about it. Tell you this much, it’s got a lot of footage, song choice is perfect. That’s what they’re building. A moody campaign and like it’s not ‘This is [frick]ing villains fighting villains and shit.’ they’re building something that people don’t really read comics are interested in. I find it very fascinating what they’re doing. So I saw this second trailer, it is f—ing wonderful. It’s got a tone but I would say the second trailer has got a lot of humor and it’s not humor of the simple variety. They’ll play out a joke with dialogue, not just a quip. Some of the shots are goddamn gorgeous. I like this guy, (David Ayer) he’s a great director. Based on those two trailers, give him whatever he wants, let him make more DC movies. He’s got an eye man. Can’t spoil it, but it’s coming soon and that’s the good news.”

Smith on Instagram:

Right in time for Jason Momoa‘s debut as the King Of Atlantis in next March’s Batman Vs. Superman, DC Entertainemnt chief creative officer and DC Comics writer Geoff Johns is returning to Aquaman along with superstar artist Ivan Reis.

Both Johns and Reis launched the New 52 Aquaman comic back in 2011, and now they will be returning for the “Rise of the Seven Seas” storyline that will tie into the Justice League comic as well.

“I can officially say that Ivan Reis, Joe Prado and I have started work on Rise of the 7 Seas! The team is back…” Johns posted on Twitter along with previously released artwork. “We are introducing this mythology piece called the Seven Seas in my last two issues and that’s going to continue into a big Justice League story next year. It warrants Aquaman getting help from the Justice League. It’s too big for him to handle alone, so the seven seas, the seven members of the Justice League — it’s all going to be a nice, big story.”

DC Comics Announces Justice League: Gods And Men

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21329:]]

During Friday’s One on One panel at COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO 2015, JUSTICE LEAGUE writer Geoff Johns revealed his plans for a series of one-shots spinning out of his current “Darkseid War” story arc.

Scheduled for October, JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MEN is a series of six single issues focusing on key characters in the Darkseid War and extends their individual conflicts against the backdrop of universal Armageddon, with Darkseid squaring off against the Anti-Monitor:

Batman – Armed with the godlike power of the Mobius Chair, the Dark Knight has taken on the role of Metron and plans to use the infinite knowledge of this device to turn Gotham City into a completely crime-free zone!

Superman – Corrupted by the weird energies of Apokolips’ fire pits, Superman has been turned into an angry, violent brute. And only one man can possibly save him: Lex Luthor.

Green Lantern – Oa has been conquered and transformed into a Parademon factory and the Green Lantern Corps is no more! Only Hal Jordan remains to follow a distress call from the last active Lantern seen fighting on Oa: John Stewart

Lex Luthor – At last, Lex Luthor, the new ruler of Apokolips, can do what he never could accomplish on Earth: hold the fate of a world in his hands. But his one failure from the “Darkseid War” continues to keep him from the peace he craves – and only a crazed Superman can help him get it!

The Flash – The Flash takes on the role of death’s harbinger, the Black Racer. And the beneficiary of his first visit is Aquaman!

Shazam! – Instead of accessing the powers of the old gods, Billy Batson now commands the combined powers of the New Gods like Highfather, Mantis and others trapped within the Source Wall. And that’s power that no mortal should possess!

DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the news at the “DC Entertainment: From Page to Screen” panel at Comic-Con.

Jay Garrick’s helmet was featured in an episode of The Flash when the time vortex was open.

A rumor from about a month ago, which may have been a reference to Jay Garrick, also mentioned a new hero would be coming to The Flash described as: a season-long role of a classically handsome, square-jawed hero in his 30s to early 40s, a slightly cynical man “with an edge.”

Jay Garrick’s helmet is also on display on the Comic-Con floor as part of The Flash Season 2 display.

Geoff Johns Leaving Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19034:]]

Superman #38 just saw Geoff Johns give Superman a new costume and a new power, and now it’s learned the DC Comics Chief Creative Officer is leaving the series.

Johns posted on DCComics.com that Superman #39 will be his last, with the new creative team to be announced.

Check it out:

Superman #38 came out yesterday and JR and I wanted to say thank you, because the issue sold out!

I have to admit, it’s a little bittersweet, because not only is it our final chapter of the Ulysses storyline, it’s also the penultimate issue to my short run on the title with the great and amazing John Romita Jr., as issue #39 will be my last.

I’m incredibly honored to have been the lucky writer working alongside JR on his first-ever monthly book for DC Comics and I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done, especially the final issue of the run which dives deeper into the fallout from Superman’s new power.

You’ll find out the next team on Superman very soon. As for what’s next for me in the comic world besides JUSTICE LEAGUE with the amazing and talented Jason Fabok, you’ll have to ask my longtime friend and collaborator, the great Gary Frank…

Until then, I also wanted to say thank you to everyone for watching #DCTV every week!

Review: Forever Evil #7 (of 7)

The long awaited conclusion to Forever Evil is here and BIG changes are in store for the DCU! It seems as though we have been waiting “forever” for this issue to hit the stands, but it is well worth the wait!

Geoff Johns has created a tale that will bring long lasting changes to all the corners of the New 52, a feat that has been promised with other crossover events throughout comicdom but never seems to pay off well. Believe me, by the time you turn the final page, you will be gasping for air!

Beginning directly where issue six left off, this issue begins in a rush. It feels that mere seconds pass between the first few pages and the shock of issue six’s conclusion is lost just as quickly as our heroes and villains ready themselves for an even more brutal attack. It is no holds barred as all the pieces fall on the table and Johns entices readers with page after page of devastating battles that culminate in more than just a few deaths. David Finch draws some of his best work and stages the layouts in glorious ways to harness the sheer brutality of each and every fight. Every panel feels like a splash page of ferocity even though there is only a single splash page in the book and it comes at the very end!

Even though Johns is quite generous with the amount of eye popping violence throughout the tale, it is the quieter moments that truly define it. Johns finds the true voice of Lex Luthor in this issue. He is an amalgam and every tiny nuance comes into play. From his brilliant deduction skills to a deep rooted sadness over the loss of “family,” Johns makes him THE best villain in the entire DCU in a single issue. There are instances where you will be left speechless and one that will spark controversy, but all of them culminate in an epic tale that is at the pinnacle of perfection.

I could tell you TONS of spoilers, but that’s not my thing! What I do want is for you to run out, get this book and behold the beginning of a darker world. One where the line between hero and villain has become blurred, where a man who has saved them all may have more than just good intentions up his sleeve. One where Lex Luthor has become greater than he ever was before!

Review: Forever Evil #5

WARNING: SPOILERS DEAD AHEAD!

Geoff Johns has given DC fans a well executed tale that shines a spotlight on those we normally see through the eyes of the superhero. Villains tend to be a one trick pony but, in Forever Evil, we have the chance to delve deeper into certain individuals machinations as to why they do what they do and in this instance, see them as not so much villains but heroes no matter what their grand scheme may be!

So far, Johns’ mini series has been laced with some subtle and not so subtle nods to past storylines, the inclusion of Otis from Donner’s Superman, the creation of B Zero, Batman wearing the Yellow Lantern ring, this issue however forgoes those subtleties and focuses more on the all out action! The tale straddles two fronts, Luthor’s legion in Wayne Enterprises and Sinestro’s battle with Power Ring. Although Johns begins his story with Luthor’s monolog, it is the sheer viciousness and unyielding might of Sinestro that truly drives the story and in the end, leaves the Crime Syndicate reeling with the loss of a core member!

Johns doesn’t strictly rely on death and destruction this issue either. Power plays are exchanged, roles are reversed and an uneasy alliance between Luthor’s legion and the Bat and Cat emerge. Johns creates a well played chess match that unfolds before your very eyes, one that will leave you rife with questions and an eagerness for what is next to come! My only qualm, regarding this overall story, is that it does not unfold into other DC core books to further enhance it. There have been so many interesting pieces to Forever Evil that it would only benefit by reaching into other books, besides the Justice League titles, and emerge from just an isolated mini into an epic event!

Review: Justice League #23.4: Secret Society

All in all, DC’s grand scheme to bring about a focus on their villains has been extremely flat. Most books have been only used to tell you what to buy next without giving you a story that would actually make you want to do so! Add to that, the negative hype regarding the 3D cover shortage and the dollar price hike and DC has really painted themselves into a corner.

There have, however, been a few exceptions to the rule and Justice League #23.4 is a shinning example of what this entire event should have been!

Geoff Johns and Sterling Gates give us a glance into the villainous world of Owlman and the alternate version of Alfred Pennyworth, in which evil reigns supreme and history is twisted. Bat fans will enjoy seeing the legend they love so much be shown in a completely different light, one where Thomas Wayne has taken up the mantle of the Bat and Alfred seems to be pulling the strings of the Dark Knight. Speckled with a myriad of Bat characters, this story has that subtle “Easter egg” feel to it, but it is the tale of Alfred and his inevitable change into the character wrecking so much havoc on the Justice League that is the most compelling.

This tale is by far the pinnacle of this “event” for DC. Where other books have failed to grab the reader, partially due to a ton of fill-in writers on the stories, Johns and Gates have created something that has depth and is truly character driven. Not only does their tale deliver on developing a marvelous “new” villain but it directly leads to pertinent storylines in the “Forever Evil” mini-series. Coupled with dark and gritty art by the fabulous Szymon Kudranski, this book is the overall best effort put out so far and it will actually make you want to continue with next month’s Forever Evil #2!

Review: Justice League Of America #1

There is something amiss in the DCU. The Justice League, a team that has been put on a pedestal by the general public, has been falling out of favor with the U.S. government. Mostly resulting from the ramifications of the attack by Atlantis, the Justice League now finds itself with a target on it’s back, one that has been put there by the same people that helped to back them in the first place. Now, another team has been put into play, and this one has been hand picked to take the Justice League down!

Blockbuster scribe Geoff Johns and fan-favorite artist David Finch have come together to give us a tale of deep intrigue, covert operations and betrayal that will both excite and captivate readers. Though the general outline of the story has been done many times before -government covert ops set up a team of super powered individuals to take down other super powered individuals – it is the structure and scope of the tale that will entice readers to dive into the series wholeheartedly. Through flashback sequences mingled with aspects happening in the present, Johns builds a powerful story of a manipulative Amanda Waller that will not take no for an answer as she builds her ultimate team to become the poster child of the U.S.. government.

The tale is steeped in collusion, bringing some fan-favorite characters back into the DCU in completely new ways and bringing them to the forefront, whether they like it or not. Personally, it was a pleasure just to see Star Girl and Hawkman in the same book once again, and although they have become foreign to me in their New 52 incarnations, they are as exciting to me now as they were the first time I read them in James Robinson and David Goyer’s JSA #1 in 1999! But the character to watch will be Vibe — I know, I can’t believe I said it either! With a completely new origin, Vibe has the potential to become a truly fantastic character and one that will far surpass it’s previous incarnation.

Although Johns weaves a fantastic first issue of beguilement, it is David Finch’s artistic duties that catapults this book further than it would have reached with a lesser talent. His work on Avengers was great but this is truly something special! Darker and using slightly different techniques to diversify the core characters, Finch has given his all for this book. He has gone from a well rounded penciler to an outstanding artist that will tantalize the eyes.

As “set-up” issues go, it is outstanding and will envelop you into Johns’ vision of the new JLA! His opening salvo into a darker era is intense and exceptional while his choices for the team and the reasoning behind them are fantastic, if not somewhat diabolical. I can’t wait for everyone to see who is chosen to take out whom, it will definitely light up the message boards! So, choose your individual state flag cover and get to reading!

Review: Justice League #0

Do not fret Justice League fans, although not a single Leaguer is seen in this book, it is still a great story that gives us the New 52 origin of Shazam!

Finally, no longer just a back-up story, Geoff Johns gives fans what they have been clamoring for! Billy Batson may have entered this series as a mere troubled boy, but he emerges as the wielder of the living lightning — Shazam!

The story is one of power and what you can do when the odds that have always been stacked against you, come crumbling down. What would you do if you were suddenly able to do anything you could ever dream of? What if you could do anything, but still retained the mind of a troubled youth — one that has seen too many hardships over the years? Would you squander it, do horrible things with it or just have fun with it?

Johns isn’t afraid to ask the smart questions in this book, but at times his tale seems to parallel Mark Millar’s Superior mini-series far too closely. Not to say this tale doesn’t have a unique story to tell, quite the contrary, but it does have similarities that are far too glaring. Similarities aside, the book itself is very well done and will make any fan glad that Shazam is back in the DC Universe!

As good as the core story is, the back-up is the one that will garner the most buzz. Written by Johns and drawn by Ethan Van Sciver, we are drawn into the web of the enigmatic — Trinity of Sin. We witness Pandora’s frustration over her judgment and finally get to see a fleeting glimpse of the mysterious “third” sinner. What we don’t know is why these beings are here, what they mean to do and if they are working for or against mankind. A truly rich and intriguing finish to a great book, one that will leave you with questions. Or better yet, THE Question!
