Batman Vs. Superman Timeframe Revealed & Prologue Scene

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22603:]]

The latest issue of Total Film Magazine has a featured article on Batman Vs. Superman. Affleck has talked about directing a solo Batman movie; it’s revealed the script was changed to accomodate Jesse EisenbergGal Gadot, Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder have talked about Wonder Woman, and now we learn the timeframe of the movie compared to Man of Steel as well as a related prologue scene.

The magazine article reveals that Batman Vs. Superman takes place 18-24 months following Man of Steel. Cavill and Affleck both talk about the trailer scene which features Bruce Wayne running to save people admist the battle between Superman and Zod – described as being from “Wayne’s-eye-view perspective.”

Cavill offers: “What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?”

Ben Affleck adds: “One of the interesting things about Batman is he functions in some ways as an antagonist: you have to remember, this is Batman versus Superman. He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.”

Ben Affleck Open To Directing Solo Batman Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22593:]]

With Ben Affleck starring as the new Dark Knight in Batman Vs. Superman, it’s been rumored the actor has been signed on for three Batman movies which will also see him direct. The latest issue of Total Film Magazine has a featured article in which Affleck and producer Charles Roven comment on the potential of Affleck taking the gig.

“He’s got a busy schedule,” Roven said. “He’s about to start a movie now [Live By Night]. And he’s also got obligations to be in the Justice League movies. The calendar is a little tricky. Of course, the script obviously has to be worthy of him wanting to direct. And once that happens, it’s still got to fit into the calendar. We’re hoping we can make it happen. We’re just at the beginning of the question.”

Affleck offered his take: “Look, if I could make it work, yeah. Obviously, it would be like a dream, The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you – if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good. You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it. Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea.”

David Goyer Has Seen Batman Vs. Superman (Video)

In addition to letting it be known the SyFy Krypton TV series will connect to Man of Steel, David Goyer also offers his reaction to having seen Batman Vs. Superman.

“Yes, I’ve seen it,” Goyer confirmed, who helped write and is an executive producer on Batman Vs. Superman. “I think just a kind of giddiness at being a kid that grew up going to the comic book store every Saturday and reading comic books in which these two epic characters clash… Just the fact that I got to be involved in something like that is crazy. Much less I got to be involved in two cinematic iterations of Batman is also crazy.”

Goyer is also asked if Batman Vs. Superman exceeded his expectations more than Man of Steel, which he also wrote.

“There’s some cool stuff that happens in the film. Let’s just leave it at that.”

“The new Batmobile is super fast. It’s purpose-built, which I like,” Snyder said. “We imagine that Batman built it over time with parts from Wayne Industries or something. He’s made it specifically for the job of fighting crime.”

Snyder also offers up the Batmobile may do new things that haven’t been seen before by its predecessors.

“Yeah, I think you will. I’m not gonna give it away, but it does a lot of cool stuff in the movie…”

Zack Snyder Says Ben Affleck Isn’t The Batman He First Imagined (Video)

The co-creator of Batman, Bob Kane, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with Batman Vs. Superman director Zack Snyder in attendance, DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee and more.

Kane created Batman back in 1939 along with Bill Finger, who for the first time this week received credit for creating the Caped Crusader in the DC Comics.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22578:]]

Regarding Zack Snyder, he spoke about Ben Affleck wearing the Batsuit for the first time offering Affleck wasn’t his first choice as the Dark Knight. Here’s the text (via CBM):

I just wanted to first say that it’s an honor to be able to speak here at the dedication of [Bob Kane’s] star as it’s an amazing achievement, and it’s great that we’re all recognizing him because he’s given us an amazing gift wth Batman.

Recently, I got to make this film Batman v Superman, and in the process, I had to design a Batman character. I had to do a suit. “I don’t know if you know anything about the process, but what you do is over months of meticulous designing and editing, you come to an aesthetic you believe will be the Batman you want to see. Along with my costume designer Michael Wilkinson, we did just that and we came to the point where we were going to test the suit on Ben [Affleck]. So, we had built a set of an alley, graffiti, barrels with fire, steamy stuff, and it was this very kind of noir-ish setting to film our Batman for the first time. Ben put the suit on, and we put him in front of the camera, and I was just having him turn and look around looking Batman-ish, and it was amazing because I felt in that moment that I had achieved this goal that I had set out for myself. When I looked at Ben, he was the perfect personification of the Batman I had in my mind.

The truth is, he wasn’t really the Batman I had imagined. Bob really had put him there in my mind, through years of TV shows, comic books, movies. I realized that we all – every single one of us – has a Batman, an imaginary Batman, in our minds, lurking in the shadows. That’s Bob’s legacy.

Fan Theory Says Christian Bale In Batman Vs. Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22570:]]

Now this is one batsh-t insane theory for Batman Vs. Superman, but it’s a heck of an entertaining one, and seeing how the guy put in a lot of effort and time into coming up with it, I think it’s at least worth a mention.

The theory comes from a Brazilan site totalspoiler.com (via moviepilot) that – long story short – says Man of Steel and Batman Vs. Superman continue the Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy. Yes, that means the two movies are set within the Nolan universe with Christian Bale still being the Batman.

The theory states Ben Affleck is NOT playing Bruce Wayne — he’s actually Deathstroke Slade Wilson. It’s theorized that Jeremy Irons is NOT playing Alfred, but Deathstroke’s own butler, William Randolph Wintergreen. It’s further theorized that Jared Leto is actually playing Robin John Blake from The Dark Knight Rises (just that the character has been recast from Joseph Gordon Levitt, which is similar to what happened with Rachel Dawes). It’s also said Jenna Malone is playing Deathstroke’s daughter, Rose Wilson.

The guy goes over a ton of “evidence” to support his theory ranging from the “v” in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actually stands for the Roman Numeral five — meaning Batman v Superman is actually the FIFTH of the Nolan movies (Man of Steel being the fourth) to the fact that the letters of “John Blake” add up to “joke.”

Scenes from the Batman Vs. Superman trailer are also used to back up the claims of Ben Affleck as Deathstroke as the guy thinks the look of Batman in the movie references when Deathstroke was Batman in the comics (Outsiders vol 3 #22).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22568:]]

A rather interesting piece of evidence is also pointed out as in the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game Deathstroke says a similar line to what Batman told Superman in the trailer: “I will make you bleed.” The end of the BvS trailer has Batman stating, “Do you bleed? You will.”

Obviously, this outlandish theory may prove false, but the guy does put put forth the rather smart-sounding argument that Batman v Superman is being used to create a second “Batman-caliber” character on the big screen with Deathstroke, described as becoming similar in popularity with what Marvel did for Iron Man.

So if Ben Affleck is playing Deathstroke, the theory goes that Christian Bale will be appearing at the end of Batman Vs. Superman (forming the Justice League?) and will appear in the Justice League Part 1 and Part 2 movies, with Affleck also appearing as Deathstoke in Suicide Squad.

Sound crazy?

Watch: Controversial Gotham Slap Scene Featuring Alfred Hitting Selina

Did Selina deserve it?

Posted by Gotham on Sunday, October 18, 2015

FOX TV has posted a clip from Gotham Season 2 featuring Sean Pertwee’s Alfred hitting Camren Bicondova’s Selina Kyle, asking “Did Selina deserve it,” which has stirred up a bit of controversy.

The video, posted three hours ago, has already been viewed over 60,000 times and has amassed over 300 shares, 3000 likes and over 600 comments.

At issue is the fact that Alfred – a grown man – hit a young girl.

Various comments range from “assault on an under age girl. He should be arrested” to “I couldn’t believe he did that and it wasn’t right” to “No! First scene that I didn’t like with Gotham.”

It probably should be noted the scene was supposed to feature a slap — and not a punch (which the sound effects make it more out to be). We do see Selina wasn’t marked or really phased by the strike, so it’s safe to assume it was a slap.

As other fans mention, maybe Selina did deserve it as she was responsible for the death of Reggie; however, Aflred apparently didn’t have all the info and still comes out as the bad guy.

“No. She saved Master Bruce’s life but Alfred didn’t know all the facts,” a fan stated.

Still another fan added: “No! What she did to Reggie was wrong, but Selena care more about Bruce as much as Alfred does! Alfred needs to know all the facts first! Though he would be against it, Selena would do anything for Bruce — even kill for him! That is why Selena/future Catwoman is the one great and true love of Bruce/future Batman: they share the same ‘dark side’. Sounds a little like Jim/Barbara, don’t you think?”

David Goyer Talks Defunct Green Arrow Movie; Won’t Be Directing DC Movies

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22477:]]

Back around 2008, a Green Arrow movie was in development from David Goyer (writer on the Batman The Dark Knight movies and Man of Steel) and Justin Marks (writer on Top Gun 2 and The Jungle Book). The plot of the movie centered on Oliver Queen being framed for murder and sent to prison, with his subsequent escape. The movie was titled “Green Arrow: Escape From Super Max” and featured a host of villains including Joker, Riddler and Lex Luthor.

While recently speaking to Den Of Geek, Goyer made note that with DC doing a villain-centric Suicide Squad movie, his Green Arrow film was ahead of its time.

“I think it absolutely was,” Goyer said about the project.. “I think if that script had come over the transom a couple of years later… It was completely ahead of its time. By the way, everything I see about Suicide Squad looks fantastic and it’s a different story. But it was absolutely ahead of its time. You know, Marvel was considering doing the Sinister Six and at the time, God, I think this was eight or nine years ago that we wrote a couple of drafts, but it certainly was like this oddball project at Warner Bros at the time, they were like – even though the script was good – ‘why would we make a movie about a bunch of villains? That makes no sense.’”

Goyer continues with mention that Warner Bros. at the time just wanted to focus on the more popular characters in their stable, but now with Marvel having success with Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, it was only a matter of time before a villains movie saw the light of day.

“The executive on it was really visionary,” Goyer said. “But the higher-ups, none of whom are at Warner Bros any more, just thought at the time, you know, we just want to make Batman and Superman movies. We don’t want to make any other characters. But this is before Marvel had really taken off, before more obscure projects like Guardians Of The Galaxy or Ant-Man or things like that had huge success, before the current gold rush I guess, if you will. It’s natural that eventually someone was going to make a villain movie, so that’s just what happened!”

The report also notes Goyer said he isn’t planning on directing any of the upcoming DC movies.

Watch: Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains Batman Vs Superman

Renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is back once again choosing Superman over Batman.

Tyson previously said “Batman is just a guy with a nice belt,” and now says more of the same in that Batman wouldn’t stand a chance in a cage fight versus Superman.

Tyson also goes on to make a point that we all know Batman is human while Superman is Superman.

“Superman would wipe his butt with Batman,” Tyson offers. “That’s basically what would happen there.”

Tyson then goes on to say a better fight would be Batman Vs. Iron Man as they are both human.

The astrophysicist does say that Batman does stand a chance against Superman, just not in a physical confrontation. Batman would need to go a different avenue, such as in the court of public opinion (or even one that of the government).

Watch the video above for more.
