Batman vs. Superman Writer Rewrites Ben Affleck Batman Script

We get an update regarding the Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns movie script for Batman.

Following Ben Affleck having departed directing Batman, Deadline initially reported there was room for the Batman script to get a rewrite.

However, now Deadline has changed their article (with no mention of the edit) and changed things to state that Chris Terrio has already rewritten the script. Terrio rewrote the Batman vs. Superman script as well.

Deadline initially said: "Affleck, who most recently helmed Live by Night, wrote the script with Geoff Johns, though there is room for a rewrite."

Now the updated article reads: "Affleck, who most recently helmed Live by Night, wrote the script with Geoff Johns, and a rewrite was just turned in by Chris Terrio, the Oscar-winning scribe of the Affleck-directed Argo."

Obviously Warner Bros. corrected what Deadline's article had to say, which smooths over another report that both Affleck and WB are unhappy with the Batman script, or at least were. Apparently, WB handed over Affleck and Johns' Batman script for a rewrite to Terrior, which is possibly due to not being happy with the first version.

The status of the Batman movie currently is it's still looking for a director with names surfacing as possibly contenders to include: Matt Reeves, Matt Ross, George Miller, Gavin O’Connor and Denis Villeneuve.

Ben Affleck previously released this statement as to why he stepped down from directing Batman:

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Ben Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

The Batman movie was supposed to start filming as early as this Spring, with Joe Manganiello set to star as Deathstroke and Jeremy Irons returning as Alfred.

Ben Affleck will be next featured as Batman in Zack Snyder's Justice League, out November 17, 2017.
