Robin Spoiler Revealed For Batman Vs. Superman

In addition to the previous batch of official Batman Vs. Superman spoilers ranging from a description of the fight, The Flash scene, Wonder Woman battling Doomsday, and Darkseid, now Ben Afflek offers further details about Robin.

EW.com spoke with Affleck about the movie last week where the subject of Robin was brought up, with Affleck confirming the character’s death.

“He’s bitterly disappointed in the past that he’s lost this guy who fought by his side. That character’s death must have been devastating to him, and he’s suffered,” Affleck said. “We get the sense that he’s suffered a lot of devastating losses before this movie even starts.”

It’s unclear which Robin wil be dead in Batman Vs. Superman, but in the comics, Jason Todd is killed by the Joker only to come back as the Batman villain, the Red Hood. Interestingly enough, Red Hood and Jason Todd are rumored for the solo Ben Affleck Batman movie in an adaptation of the comic book storylines, “A Death in the Family” and “Under The Hood.” The same rumor also suggested Dick Grayson may appear as Nightwing in the solo Batman movie and even get a mention in Batman Vs. Superman.

WB has yet to announce that Ben Affleck will direct the solo Batman movie, but Affleck tells EW.com he hasn’t ruled it out.

“There’s definitely willingness and a will and a desire to make a Batman movie on the part of Warner Brothers. It’s in development, and right now I’m really focused on finishing Live By Night,” said Affleck. “That’s where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I’m finished with this movie, I’ll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be.”

Affleck also previously offered the guilt Batman harbors for whatever happened to Robin is directed toward Superman.

“He’s projecting his own sense of failure, his own sense of disillusionment, his own cynicism onto Superman,” Affleck said.

Likewise, DC Entertainment chief creative officer Geoff Johns wouldn’t confirm which Robin’s costume is featured in the Batcave.

“We’ll be exploring that,” says Johns, who has consulted on the full slate. “No one says specifically the name of which Robin that is.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman Has A Big Machine Gun In New Batman vs. Superman Art

Batman Vs. Superman Fight Scene Clip

Check out new art for Batman Vs. Superman that Zack Snyder revealed at the press tour taking place in China.

The pic features what looks to be Batman with a big arse machine gun straight out of Call of Duty. It’s also a lot bigger gun than what was seen in the trailers (see below). Batman also has grendade launchers, but this gun seems to more resemble an actual automatic weapon as do some of the other guns (see below).

More rubber bullets?

As some of the CBM‘ers note, it looks a lot like an MG 42 machine gun.

Hopefully a high-res pic is made available.

Frank Miller Reveals Why Darren Aronofsky Batman Never Got Made

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24592:]]

Prior to Christopher Nolan launching Batman Begins in 2005, Frank Miller collaborted with Darren Aronofsky for a different Batman movie.

The project got so far as concept art and a script was created, but Miller reveals why WB put a stop to it — citing it was too dark and not what they had in mind (via THR):

It was the first time I worked on a Batman project with somebody whose vision of Batman was darker than mine. My Batman was too nice for him. We would argue about it, and I’d say, “Batman wouldn’t do that, he wouldn’t torture anybody,” and so on. We hashed out a screenplay, and we were wonderfully compensated, but then Warner Bros. read it and said, “We don’t want to make this movie.” The executive wanted to do a Batman he could take his kids to. And this wasn’t that. It didn’t have the toys in it. The Batmobile was just a tricked-out car. And Batman turned his back on his fortune to live a street life so he could know what people were going through. He built his own Batcave in an abandoned part of the subway. And he created Batman out of whole cloth to fight crime and a corrupt police force.

The article also suggested that Miller turn the project into a graphic novel, in which Miller doesn’t think that is a bad idea.

Maybe I will.

Watch: Christian Bale Talks Batman & Heath Ledger’s Joker

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24580:]]

Yesterday saw Christian Bale back up Morgan Freeman’s sentiments that Batman Vs. Superman will not be able to beat The Dark Knight Trilogy, and now Yahoo caught up with Bale to talk about Batman in which Bale offered he wish he had been able to do more with the character.

“I didn’t quite manage what I hoped I would throughout the trilogy,” Bale said, noting Batman had a monstrous side. “Chris did, but my own sense of self is like, ‘I didn’t quite nail it.’”

Bale continued with mention that when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker, it overshadowed everything, and rightfully so.

“Heath turned up, and just kind of completely ruined all my plans,” Bale said. ‘Because I went, ‘He’s so much more interesting than me and what I’m doing.’“

Bale also offered he was done with Batman. Check out the video:

Christian Bale & Morgan Freeman Say Batman Vs. Superman Won’t Beat The Dark Knight (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24574:]]

Ben Affleck has some big shoes to fill as the previous Batman, Christian Bale, was popular amongst the fans as was Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.

ET caught up with both Bale and Morgan Freeman who offered they don’t think anything will ever be better than their Nolan Batman movies.

“Everyone brings their own element to that — Ben [Affleck] will do that as well,” Bale said about playing Batman“I think the trailers are looking great and I’m looking forward to that.”

Morgan Freeman had his own two cents to add.

“I’m happy for Ben [Affleck], but I don’t know how that’s gonna work,” Morgan Freeman said, who played Lucius Fox for Nolan. “Because The Dark Knight was almost ‘it.’ Pretty much ‘it.’ Did you see Batman Begins? I don’t think you can beat that.”

“Right on for Morgan [Freeman] for saying no one will ever be that, I very much like him,” Bale responded.

Batman Vs. Superman Training For Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill & Gal Gadot Detailed In Muscle & Fitness Magazine

Batman Vs. Superman Final Trailer

The latest issue of Muscle & Fitness magazine has a featured article on Batman Vs. Superman covering the physique transformations of Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot

Regarding Ben Affleck, who worked with his Town trainer, Walter Norton Jr, highlights include:

After consulting with Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder, they decided they didn’t want Affleck to look at all like he did in The Town. And they definitely didn’t want him to look like Christian Bale or Michael Keaton. They were thinking bigger. Much bigger.

In fact, initially some within the studio even had the idea that Ben could transform himself into a young Arnold Schwarzenegger. “We got a good chuckle out of that,” says Norton. “You’re talking about maybe the best body of all time.” Eventually, more logical heads prevailed, and the target look for Affleck became an MMA heavyweight fighter.

“With Batman, we had to get a physically imposing, powerful look,” says Norton. “And that takes a lot of reps. You have to be in the weight room day after day after day, so it certainly was a process.”

For 15 months, Norton and Affleck trained anywhere from 90 minutes to 2½ hours a day, typically six days on and two days of.

“We often worked out at 5 in the morning, or late at night.”

When filming for Batman v Superman finally began in Detroit in 2014, Affleck worked out daily in a three-car garage converted into a gym, using a hybrid program that was equal parts bodybuilding exercises and functional movements.

“Because we knew we had to train for such a long period of time, you’ve got to be a little more joint-friendly,” says Norton. “But you’ve got to add muscle, so there was certainly an aesthetic muscle-building element to it. He got very good at chinups and pullups. He’s very good at inverted rows. He added a lot of weight to his glutes and his legs that he hadn’t had before. His calves got a lot bigger. Certainly he’s got a great frame.”

Affleck’s size as the Dark Knight was a formidable 228 pounds, with a mere 7.9% body fat. And to make sure Affleck didn’t balloon to 250 pounds, he enlisted renowned nutritionist Rehan Jalali to design his diet. A typical day of eating: egg whites and oatmeal in the morning; salad, double protein, and vegetables at lunch; fish or chicken at dinner with brussels sprouts, cauliflower, or broccoli. “We were seeing that in our sleep,” notes Norton. “Rehan designed a great diet, and Ben followed it to the letter.”

Henry Cavill re-teamed with Man of Steel trainer Mark Twight:

Cavill spent his Christmas holiday in Salt Lake City at the gym — eating a lot, sleeping a lot (usually nine hours a night), and training a lot. The target body type this time around was similar to what it was for the first film, only larger. (So it goes with sequels.) Cavill came to Twight early on and said, “Look, I want to be bigger and stronger.” It was music to Twight’s ears — and probably Snyder’s as well.

“In [Man of Steel], Henry didn’t have another superhero to be next to, apart from General Zod,” says Twight. “In this one, because he was going to be next to Batman a lot, the general consensus was that he needed to be a little bit bigger.”

“His diet was in the 5,000-calories-a-day range, which is typical for anyone of his size in the gaining phase,” says Twight. “He still ate relatively clean, but he loved it because he had a lot of latitude.”

They paired this nutrition plan with grueling two-hour workouts in the gym. Pretty soon, Cavill’s measurables rose. “Six months into Batman v Superman,” says Twight, “his numbers were through the roof.” His deadlift neared 500 pounds. He was front-squatting 335 pounds. He did a lot of shoulder work, because there’s never been a superhero who didn’t have broad shoulders and a narrow waist. With Twight’s assistant, Michael Blevins, Cavill even spent time doing gymnastics work, like tumbles and handstands.

“We hit a lot of PRs compared with [training for the first movie],” says Twight. “And some of that, too, was not only improved physical ability but also the psychological changes of being confident enough to go after a heavier weight. You know, he was willing to take a little bit more of an aggressive attitude to the weight. And he was so much more physically capable on this one.”

The result was impressive. On Man of Steel, Cavill got up to 199.8 pounds and was cut down to 190 pounds for shooting. On Batman v Superman, Cavill topped out at 220 pounds and was walking around at 202 pounds, with 7 or 8% body fat. Which means he gained an extra 12 pounds of muscle compared with his shape for the first movie — when he was already rather big.

Twight also trained Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman:

Twight calls this nine-month process — including three months with her, one on one, in Tel Aviv — “challenging and immensely satisfying.” One of the primary challenges: convincing the slender 5’10” Gadot that it was OK to add a significant amount of weight. Twight says it required her to make a transformation in self-image and body image.

“Anytime you present someone with a really radical change, it’s hard to get them to buy in 100% to the idea,” says Twight. “So we took it in incremental steps. We went from a model to a high jumper, in terms of an athletic look. And then once she was comfortable with that, then we’d go a little bit further.”

Ben Affleck A Very Intimidating Batman Says Costume Designer Michael Wilkinson

Batman Vs. Superman Final Trailer

Following the news of Ben Affleck having rewritten some of the Batman Vs. Superman script, now costume designer Michael Wilkinson lets it be known Affleck is a very intimidating Batman and one that is “sexy, smart and seductive.”

“I think people are going to be blown away by his Bruce Wayne and his Batman,” Wilkinson told People. “It just feels right, like he was born to be this character. He’s sexy, he’s smart and seductive. He’s strong and a little intimidating and scary, he’s a real brawler, there’s nothing precious about his Bruce Wayne. He rolls up his sleeves and gets it done. I remember he just kind of looked at himself in the mirror, pretty happy with how he looked. The costume is very intimidating and huge and I think he intimidated himself when he looked in the mirror, so that’s a good sign.”

Regarding what fans should expect, Wilkson enthusiatically offered, “Hold onto your socks because they’re about to blown off.”

Ben Affleck Rewrote Batman Vs. Superman Script

Batman Vs. Superman Final Trailer

There was the David Goyer script.

Then Chris Terrio was brought on board to due re-writes.

Now it’s learned Ben Affleck wasn’t totally happy with the Batman Vs. Superman script.

According to US Weekly, Affleck actually re-wrote some of the script and dilaogue while on the set of Dawn of Justice.

The Oscar-winning screenwriter “would go into wardrobe and get all suited up for the day in his Batman suit,” explains the insider of the action flick. “Then he would sit around reworking the script. Ben wasn’t thrilled with it and would find himself on multiple occasions fixing it the day of.”

Regarding the overall script, it’s speculated that David Goyer wrote more of a Man of Steel sequel and then Chris Terrio was brought on board, which included rewriting Lex Luthor to suit Jesse Eisenberg. It’s possible Affleck may have rewritten whatever source they used to add Batman to the Goyer script.

US Weekly also says Affleck is “excited to do a Batman film” and that he is “fascinated by the character.”

First Look At Justice League Movie: Zack Snyder, Jason Momoa & Flash Costume

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24408:]]

Earlier today saw the news that the Justice League movie will start filming this April and that Zack Snyder is in the UK for pre-production.

Now Zack Snyder has taken to Twitter to reveal a first look image of himself along with Aquaman Jason Momoa.

“Deep in it with Jason on JL #Aquaman #JusticeLeague #Leavesden @PrideofGypsies,” Snyder tweeted.

The background apparently reveals costumes from the movie where what looks to be the Ezra Miller Flash costume is present (or some potential version of it), possibly Momoa’s Aquaman costume and maybe a Batman costume. Anything else?

Justice League has a November 17, 2017 release date.

Now Batman Vs. Superman Compared To Man of Steel: “Suits Nervous”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24372:]]

We’ve all heard the rumor WB is worried about Batman Vs. Superman; then we all heard about the perceived notion WB is concerned about the popcorn Marvel movie audience, and now Latino Review is adding their two cents.

According to the site, “concerned” is a better word than “worried,” which makes sense as Batman Vs. Superman is a new movie with a super high budget.

It’s said the budget for Batman Vs. Superman has “ballooned” north of $400 million, and for the movie to be considered a success, it would have to make more than a billion dollars at the box office.

According to an “insider,” problems could arise with Batman Vs. Superman as – similar to Man of Steel – it could split the audience. It’s said Man of Steel wasn’t the “universal crowd pleaser” WB wanted, which is a “trend” that could continue with Batman Vs. Superman.

It’s further said Batman Vs. Superman may not be for everyone or as easily accessible, which is making the suits a bit nervous. It’s said Zack Snyder may have made “another difficult film,” with DC having to keep a close eye on what works and what doesn’t.

Regarding the comparison to Man of Steel, as I previously pointed out, Man of Steel started out with a bang but ended with a whimper as it only made $668 million – and not the billion WB hoped for – which is why Batman was added to the sequel.

Latino Review goes on to state Justice League is “absolutely happening” following Batman Vs. Superman, and that the solo Ben Affleck Batman movie is not replacing Justice League‘s release date (JL is already in production).

Depending on how well Batman Vs. Superman does or does not do, it’s said the Justice League movie universe could end up getting retooled.

No Big Batman Vs. Superman Surprise On Good Morning America

Batman Vs. Superman Final Trailer

This morning saw the stars of Batman Vs. Superman, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, appear on Good Morning America where it’s been teased that a “big surprise will knock you out.”

Well, there was no surprise.

Affleck and Cavill appeared in a short interview with no new footage and nothing new really offered. They joked about Affleck getting advice from Clooney (couldn’t be repeated) and Bale (have a zipper in the Batsuit) as well as how they can make Batman fighting Supes (as Cavill referred to Superman) work on the big screen (because they have a story to tell – they all laughed).

Super bummer, guys.

I’m actually guessing there may have been more to this event than what was originally planned. We know free tickets were given away which was described as “GMA’s Giant Batman Vs. Superman Event” for yesterday; however, according to various reports, fans that received the tickets were e-mailed the event was cancelled, only to find out it was post-posted(?) until today. Obviously if tickets were going to be given away, a live audience would be present for the Affleck and Cavill interview, which didn’t happen.

While this was a disappointment, last night saw images leak from an official Batman Vs. Superman book which offers some cool new looks at Batman, Superman and more.
