George R.R. Martin Developing Captain Cosmos For HBO

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19914:]]

Game Of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin recently discussed finishing the sixth book by 2016 where he mentioned a new project with HBO.

Martin told EW.com that he is developing a new series called Captain Cosmos, which is described as: “At the dawn of the age of TV in 1949, a visionary young writer creates a science fiction series that tells stories no one else will dare to tell.” The pilot is being written by Michael Cassutt (Z Nation).

Regarding the new Game of Thrones book, Martin offered a big surprise is in store for a regular character.

“This is going to drive your readers crazy,” he teases, “but I love it. I’m still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It’s a great twist. It’s easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it’s just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved… it all makes sense. But it’s nothing I’ve ever thought of before. And it’s nothing they can do in the show, because the show has already—on this particular character—made a couple decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions.”

Game Of Thrones returns to HBO with Season 5 on Sunday, April 12th.

Lennie James Talks Walking Dead Season 6

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19868:]]

Fans finally got to see Morgan reunite with Rick on the Season 5 finale of The Walking Dead.

However, it didn’t look to be a happy reunion as Morgan seems to be some sort of zen-master who won’t kill, while Rick is taking the opposite approach.

The Walking Dead Season 6 doesn’t return until October, but Lennie James spoke with TV Guide about his future with the series.

Will Morgan’s change in mental state be explained?

As with the change we saw from the man in the pilot to the man in “Clear,” there was, for want of a better word, an origin story to how Morgan had lost his mind. There is an origin story to the Morgan we meet in the season finale. I don’t know which way it’s going to be told, but I am pretty sure that origin story will in some way, shape or form will come to light in Season 6 and explain who this Morgan is.

How much will Morgan be a part of The Walking Dead Season 6?

All I can say is it will be at least one episode to clarify and resolve his arrival in Alexandria. Beyond that, at the moment I’m not at liberty to say.

Lennie James also teases who taught him how to bo staff fight:

I can say that the skills you see him displaying in the finale, he’s been taught.

Daredevil Showrunner Wants R-Rated Punisher

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19866:]]

With hopefully the upcoming Marvel Netflix Daredevil series being such a success, perhaps following Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist we could see the Punisher.

Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight recently spoke with SciFiNow and stated he would love to get an R-Rated Punisher series made.

“I’d love to see him get his due on a platform like this,” DeKnight said. “Nothing would delight me more than to see the Punisher get his own show and maybe we could convince Marvel to go Hard-R rating. If any character deserves an R rating, it’s the Punisher.”

Though Daredevil won’t be R-rated, it will still be pretty dark and gritty, and Charlie Cox even said the Man Without Fear is pretty close to the character of the Punisher.

“Steven DeKnight said that Daredevil is one bad day away from being the Punisher,” added Cox. “I thought that was really helpful. Again, it adds to the dark tone, and I think it’s more interesting to watch.”

Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson previously played Frank Castle, maybe Steven DeKnight already has plans for a new “Frank” to cameo in Daredevil?

“Daredevil” premiers with all 13 episodes on April 10th.

Doctor Who’s Arthur Darvill Joins Arrow / Flash Spinoff

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19859:]]

Add one more to the cast of the untitled spinoff of Arrow and The Flash with Arthur Darvill.

Darvill, known for playing Rory Williams on Doctor Who, will stick to the time traveling genre as he is set to play none other than Rip Hunter.

Earlier today also saw casting news for Hawkgirl in the superhero team spinoff.

THR reports Arthur Darvill is in final negotiations to play a character called The Traveller, whom they learned is Rip Hunter (the character was previously named as part of three new DC heroes to be a part of the show).

Fans of the comics know Rip Hunter has a relationship with another DC time traveling hero – Booster Gold (it remains to be seen whether or not Booster Gold will be a part of the new spinoff).

The report also mentions WB is describing Rip Hunter in the spinoff as: a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit.

Rip Hunter won’t be the first time travelling character as we know Tom Cavanagh is playing Professor Zoom, a character from the 25th century in the DC Comics.

Arthur Darvill also joins Brandon Routh as Atom, Victor Garber as one-half of Firestorm, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave and Caity Lotz in an undisclosed role.

The Arrow / Flash spinoff looks to debut next mid-season.
