Xena: Warrior Princess Getting Rebooted

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21428:]]

Update: Lucy Lawless shoots down the rumor (see below tweet).

It’s being reported that a Xena: Warrior Princess reboot is in the works at NBC.

THR reports twenty years after the series first aired, NBC and Universal are in the early stages of launching a new series.

A writer is currently being sought, and it’s said original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are also involved, in what is being described as a “moder reboot” for Xena.

The new Xena is said to have: “the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games‘ Katniss as producers are said to be looking for a sophisticated and smart superhero for a new generation.”

It’s unknown if the new Xena series will feature Lucy Lawless, but it’s said NBC wants Lawless to have a role both on screen and behind the scenes as Lawless has been pitching a new Xena series for some time.

Lawless is also reteaming with Sam Raimi for Ash Vs. Evil Dead.

The Xena reboot is eyed for a 2016 release.

No Green Lantern For Arrow Due To GLC Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15832:]]

Similar to the use of the Suicide Squad, now it appears Green Lantern will not be allowed in the CW Flash and Arrow universe.

Both The Flash and Arrow have contained numerous references to Green Lantern, which also saw mention of a “missing pilot,” an obvious nod to Hal Jordan.

Stephen Amell also recently teased Green Lantern when he mentioned Coast City, and Amell previously said it would be cool to have Green Lantern and hopefully it will happen.

However, Green Lantern doesn’t appear to be happening for Arrow due to the recenly announced Green Lantern Corps movie.

THR caught up with Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim who offered: “They announced the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t include Hal Jordan. It would be great but I doubt it very much.”

It seems the execs at Warner Bros. are not allowing the movie characters to appear on the small screen (save for The Flash) as it’s known Deadshot in Arrow is off the table as well, and Blue Beetle was originally intended to be Brandon Routh’s character, but WB said there are plans for Blue Beetle so suggested Atom.

Lucy Lane Headed To Supergirl

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21418:]]

It’s learned Superwoman may be headed to the CBS Supergirl TV series as it’s said Lucy Lane will be appearing in the third episode.

TVLine reports Lucy Lane will be introduced in the third episode and will be a recurring character. It’s unknown if Lucy Lane will become Superwoman, but the character is described as being in her mid-20s to early 30s and brash, funny and beautiful as her sister Lois, yet strong, smart and successful in her own right.

It’a also stated that similar to her DC Comics character, Lucy Lane will be an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Olsen (played by Mehcad Brooks).

In the comics, Lucy Lane as Superwoman wasn’t actually a Kryptonian, but had a suit/containment field that simulated Kryptonian powers.

An actress has yet to be cast as Lucy Lane for Supergirl.

“Supergirl” premiers Monday, October 26th on CBS at 8:30pm starring Melissa Benoist.

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES will be a thrilling, six-episode event series helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Stephen Amell Wants Constantine In Arrow Season 4

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21397:]]

When NBC cancelled Constantine, there were talks the show may move to the CW or Netflix, and Stephen Amell even offered to guest star.

While it seems everyone passed on Constantine, it’s learned Matt Ryan’s future may not be over as the Hellblazer as IGN caught up with Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle and Amell at Comic-Con who offer some hope.

“Yeah, we really want to do it,” Mericle said of having Constantine appear on Arrow. “It’s something we’ve been talking to DC about, and it’s just a question of some political things, but also the actor’s schedule. We’re trying to work it out, but we don’t know 100 percent if it’s going to happen.”

“Fingers crossed,” added Amell.

“But we’re really optimistic and we would love to have him,” Mericle offered.

It’s still unknown exacly why Constantine didn’t get picked up elsewhere as the series did have higher ratings than some of the CW shows. Honestly, I’m almost beginning to wonder if it’s something more to do with Warner Bros. internally and possibly either David Goyer, who seems to be out of the picture as of late, or maybe the planned Justice League Dark movie, which will feature a Constantine as well. WB already put the kibosh on the Suicide Squad on TV, maybe something similar went down with Constantine?

American Horror Story: Hotel Lady Gaga Teaser & Characters Revealed

FX has released a new Lady Gaga teaser for the fifth season of American Horror Story, titled “Hotel.”

In addition, Comic-Con saw the following characters revealed:

Matt Bomer will play Donovan; Kathy Bates is Iris; Angela Bassett stars as Ramona; Evan Peters takes the role of Mr. March and Sarah Paulson will bring Hypodermic Sally to life as a villain (via EW).

Regarding Lada Gaga, all was stated is that her character will be “evil.”

American Horror Story: Hotel premiers in October and sees the cast set in a 1920s Hotel.

Ryan Murphy offered to TV Guide:

The upcoming season that we’re doing is much more horror-based; it’s much more dark. It’s about a theme and an idea that’s very close to my heart that I’ve always wanted to do that’s a little bloodier and grislier I think than anything that we’ve done before; it’s straight horror this year. Murder House, I thought, was a very primal season because everybody’s great fear is about the bogeyman under the bed in their house, and this feels similar to me in that when you check into a hotel, there are certain things beyond your control… Other people have the keys to your room; they can come in there. You’re not exactly safe, it’s a very unsettling idea.

Stephen Amell Calls M. Night Shyamalan’s Publicist An A-Hole

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21366:]]

I’m a big fan of Stephen Amell

I can forgive him for being a Blue Jays and LA Kings fan (go Yankees, Sabres and Bills) as he seems as down-to-earth as you can get for an actor. Amell runs his own Facebook page (instead of having a PR team do it) where he regulary interacts with fans, and he supports various charities. Plus, he is the Green Arrow.

This past weekend’s Comic-Con saw Amell attend for Arrow, but something must have happened that irked him.

Amell took to Twitter to blast M. Night Shyamalan’s publicist, Kathryn Rowe (via Variety).

“What a wonderful SDCC,” Amell tweeted. “So many lovely people. Except M. Night Shyamalan’s publicist. She’s an all-timer level a–hole.”

It’s unknown what caused Amell to react this way, but it’s probably safe to say that Kathryn Rowe has failed the city.

It’s also nice to see a straight-shooter in Hollywood for a change.

Shyamalan was at the SDCC for his latest movie The Visit.

Watch: Hannibal Comic-Con Trailer; Movie A Possibility

Check out a Comic-Con trailer above for Hannibal, which takes an extended look at the story of the Red Dragon, Will Graham’s new nemesis that airs Thursdays at 10/9c.

NBC recently let it be known they are not renewing the series, and the latest regarding the future of Hannibal is that Amazon and Netflix have passed on picking it up, but now the show’s creators have hinted a Hannibal movie is a possibility.

“I think this finale wraps up the television series in a really good way and also is a platform for a launch in a new version of telling the story,” producer Bryan Fuller told Entertainment Weekly Lounge at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday.

Regarding why Netflix passed on it, it’s because Hannibal streams over at Amazon; as for why Hannibal didn’t get picked up at Amazon, Fuller stated it’s because Amazon wanted the series right away.

“Netflix couldn’t do it because of the Amazon streaming,” Fuller explained at the SDCC. “Amazon would liked to have done it but they wanted to do it very quickly and I wanted to be able to get all the scripts in advance before we starting shooting…the schedule with their desire to put it on immediately was just impossible for us.”

Fuller has hope the series will return in some form.

“We’d like to continue with the show so the way this season ends, there may be an opportunity for a little break and then hopefully we’ll find a way to bring Mads [Mikkelsen] and Hugh [Dancy] back to you.”

Zoom Confirmed For The Flash Season 2 Villain

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21347:]]

Coming out of tonight’s WBTV Panel at Comic-Con it’s been confirmed The Flash Season 2 villain will be Zoom.

No specific details or casting has been announced but The Flash EP Andrew Kreisberg teased: “He’s going to be faster than the Reverse-Flash, faster than the Flash, and it’s going to be very hard to catch him. Zoom is going to be terrifying and scary and fast, and it’s going to be all kinds of cool.”

Zoom is originally a Wally West villain named Hunter Zolomon whose father was a serial killer. His origin story is actually pretty cool in that while attempting to understand the criminal mind, he joined the FBI and ended up as a criminal profiler in Keystone City. Eventually, Zolomon is left paralyzed in a prison breakout by Gorilla Grodd and asked Wally West to use the time travelling cosmic treadmill to undo the accident; however, when Wally refused, Hunter attempted to use the treadmill himself, which resulted in another accident giving Hunter his “Zoom” powers. Hunter takes a turn for the worse deciding that Wally needs to suffer a personal tragedy as well and becomes Zoom.

Obviously, we could see similar elements playing into The Flash series as Grodd and the treadmill were featured in Season 1, but they will just use Barry in place of Wally.

Should be good.

The Flash Season 2 premiers Tuesday, October 6th on the CW.

On CBS’s new series, Lord is a green tech billionaire who enjoys a friendly rivalry with Cat Grant and a fascination with National City’s newest arrival — Supergirl,” revealed DC in a statement.

“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I have been fans of Peter for years.  We’re beyond thrilled to have him join us on Supergirl’s first adventures bringing the iconic Maxwell Lord to life,” Andrew Kreisberg added.

It was also confirmed the Superman villain Livewire, and Reactron, a Supergirl villain, will appear in Season 1, but no casting for those characters was announced.

SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

With Ciara Renee playing Hawkgirl for DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, it only makes sense we’ll eventually get to see Hawkman.

Tonight at Comic-Con saw confirmation that Hawkman will be a part of the series.

Deadline also notes Marc Guggenheim announced that the initial episodes of this season’s Arrow and The Flash will set the groundwork for the midseason series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Caity Lotz also talked about reviving her character through use of the Lazarus pit: “We’ve seen on Arrowthe people who go into the pit aren’t the same person who come out. There’s the consequences of that now, and I at least want her to go nuts off her rocker.”

Ciarra Renee offered she is preparing for Hawkgirl by: “reading all the comic books, catching up on Arrow and The Flashand boxing and martial arts.”

The CW also released an “Hero Evolution” trailer for DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow mashing footage with comic panels.
