Ian McShane Joins Game Of Thrones Season 6

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21588:]]

Ian McShane is joining the upcoming Game of Thrones Season 6.

The veteran actor, known for Deadwood, John Wick, American Horror Story, Pirates of the Caribbean and Hercules, will be a part of Westeros in what is said to be a mystery role.

EW.com reports the news that details on McShane’s involvment in Game of Thrones are slim.

“The show’s tight-lipped production will not reveal any details about McShane’s character, who’s coming on board for the most mysterious season yet,” The site reports. “Thrones is preparing to dive headlong into narrative territory not yet revealed in author George R.R. Martin’s novels (and despite that opening sentence, McShane’s character could theoretically appear in Westeros or Essos or somewhere in between).”

What is known about McShane’s role is that he has a small amount of screen-time during the season, yet it’s said his character is of key importance.

Game Of Thrones is currently in production for Season 6, and most recently HBO stated they expect the series to go for ten seasons, with it also mentioned a possibilty for a prequel series.

Ash Vs. Evil Dead Comic-Con Trailer

Check out a first look at Lucy Lawless in the Starz series starring Bruce Campbell Ash Vs. Evil Dead.

Cambell also calmed fans fears that the series would be a pg-13 rated version as it’s on TV.

“It would be silly of us to rip the fans off by doing a watered-down version of the series,” Campbell said Friday at the Television Critics Association press tour, reports EW.com. “If this came out as a movie, it would be unrated. … The beauty of working with Starz is we have no content restriction whatsoever… I went blind the other day shooting a scene. That’s how much blood there is on the show. I’ve been gagged once and I went blind.”

Regarding Lawless’ character, who blames Ash for the Evil Dead outbreak and is described as a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil, the actess offered: “She’s a bad bitch and she’s stalking Ash Williams. She’s got a big chip on her shoulder and a hot obsession.”

Comic Characters Join The Walking Dead Season 6

The Walking Dead Season 6 Comic-Con Trailer

The Walking Dead Season 6 will feature three new characters.

EW.com debuted the following images of Ethan Embry as Carter, Merritt Wever as Dr. Denise Cloyd, and Corey Hawkins as Heath.

Carter is described as: “Gimple says Carter serves as a composite of different people from the original comic. ‘Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven’t hit yet or weren’t able to hit in other characters,’ says Gimple. ‘He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy.’

Wever’s Dr. Cloyd is from the comics described as: “Denise’s role as a medic becomes critical in the community of Alexandria after the death of Pete, and in the comic her skills as a surgeon prove pivotal, especially after a ghastly injury incurred by one of the main characters—an injury which may or may not happen on the TV version.”

Corey Hawkins is from the comic as well and is described as: a supply-runner for the town (and one who becomes romantically linked to Denise in the original source material), but we’ve got an exclusive new photo for you above. Gimple had this to tell EW about Hawkins in the role: “He’s terrific and I’m so excited to see him bring Heath to life. It’s been fun and he dove in with both feet. He’s tough and skeptical when the cameras are rolling, and then when they’re off he’s just like a goofy fan. He’s really, really excited to be there.”

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, October 11th at 9pm ET on AMC.

SyFy Announces Blood Drive Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21543:]]1971 Vanishing Point Challenger

Syfy and Universal Cable Productions today announced they have greenlit Blood Drive, a high-octane, over-the-top scripted series in the classic grindhouse movie tradition. Set in a near-apocalyptic future, the 13-episode series centers around LA’s last good cop who is forced to join a twisted, gory cross-country death race — with cars powered by blood and a dangerous femme fatale partner who sees people as fuel.

Blood Drive is from executive producers John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening, The Shield) and David Straiton (Bates Motel, Hemlock Grove), who will also direct.

James Roland wrote the pilot under Hlavin’s supervision and will also serve as supervising producer. Fredrik Malmberg (Conan the Barbarian) and Mark Wheeler will serve as producers. Universal Cable Productions will be the studio.

Said Dave Howe, President, Syfy & Chiller:  “This highly stylized roller coaster ride is a throwback to 1970s grindhouse cinema. With its fast-paced thrills and indie feel, Blood Drive will make an exciting and edgy addition to Syfy’s growing slate of original scripted series.”

“The grindhouse cinema style remains largely untapped in television. The combination of gritty action and dark humor can push the envelope in some fun and unexpected ways,” said Jeff Wachtel, Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and President, Universal Cable Productions. “Blood Drive has all these elements and more. We’re excited to partner with John Hlavin and David Straiton to bring this cool, action-packed series to life.”

Stephen Amell Teases WWE Appearance Vs. Stardust (Video)

Update: Stephen Amell has asked his fans if he should wrestle Stardust:

Facebook! Something you should know about me is that I’m a lifelong fan of the WWE. You’ll remember that I’ve openly…

Posted by Stephen Amell on Tuesday, July 28, 2015

Arrow star Stephen Amell happens to be a big WWE fan who hails from Toronto, Ontario, another big wrestling town.

Not too long ago Amell attempted to take on Sting, as Sting was using the vigilante gimmick, sort of similar to Amell in the Arrow series.

It’s guessed when Amell came face-to-face at the recent Philadelphia Comic-Con with Sting, the (175lb?) actor quickly realized he wasn’t a match for the 6’3 250lb WWE Superstar.

Following that short feud, Amell attended a WWE event where he was called out by Codey Rhodes, aka Stardust.

It was originally thought that Amell and Rhodes might duke it out at next month’s Summer Slam, but we are guessing as production on Arrow has kicked off in Vancouver (Summer Slam is in Brooklyn), Amell can’t find the time to leave.

Now the latest regarding Arrow vs. Stardust is that the last couple of weeks on WWE RAW, Rhodes has been feuding with Neville (whose finisher is called the Red Arrow), with Rhodes saying stuff about super heroes and such. Earlier tonight on RAW saw Cody Rhodes mention super heroes again as well as “green hood” and appeared to rip up a magazine of Stephen Amell as Green Arrow.

Stephen Amell shared the above video on his Facebook noting “the time for talk is almost over,” which seems to be hinting that Amell will be taking on Cody Rhodes. Amell also previously made mention that the WWE will be in the area, which may suggest the battle will take place somewhere in the northwest.

August 8th does see the WWE have a house event in British Colombia, and the next Monday, WWE RAW is in Washington, not too far from where Amell is filming Arrow. Tuesday’s Smackdown is in Oregon as well.

Another possibility is that the WWE and Amell are setting up a match for Wrestlemania 32, which takes place in April at ATT&T Stadium in Texas. The WWE is going to try to take back the single event crowd record, which they previously held with Wrestlemania 3, but has since been beat by the NBA.

Marc Guggenheim Defends Casting Black Actor As Nazi Comic Character For Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21475:]]

The DC Comics Nazi super villain, Baron Blitzkreig, has been cast for Arrow Season 4 with British actor Jimmy Akingbola tapped to play the bad guy.

Well, seeing how Akingbola is black, this caused a bit of controversy online.

Now Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has taken to EW.com to clear the air.

While true, in the comics the character is a Nazi, it turns out Jimmy Akingbola will be playing a slightly different version with Baron Reiter.

The article notes: “Marc Guggenheim wants to ‘disabuse people of the notion that we cast a black man as a Nazi, because that’s not actually what we did.'”

It’s further clarified that Baron Reiter acts as a foil for Oliver Queen in flashbacks, while Damien Darhk fills that role in the present-day story lines.

“We wanted a really great villain for Oliver in the flashbacks,” Guggenheim explained. “We wanted to come out of the gate strong with someone great and we wanted to, quite frankly, cast the best actor. As it turns out, our best actor was African-American.

“We took the name Baron Reiter without any intention of turning him into Baron Blitzkrieg,” he continued. “Baron Blitzkreig is the evil Nazi super villain. Baron Reiter is not going to become Baron Blitzkreig in the show.”

Guggenheim goes on to say that they only liked the fact that the Baron was associated with the evil organization called Shadowspire.

“We never planned on actually telling a story about a bad guy who is a Nazi,” Guggenheim said. “In fact, when people meet this character, he’s not German, he’s not a Nazi, he doesn’t subscribe to any Nazi philosophies. We were attracted to an organization that actually in the comics had been associated with Deathstroke called Shadowspire. In the comics, Baron Reiter became associated with Shadowspire.”

Guggenheim went on to say he understands the internet reaction.

“I totally get it. It’s all good. We were surprised because we mistakenly assumed that everyone was on the same page as we were, but why would they be? We haven’t told anyone anything about the flashbacks, but this was so obviously not our intention to do Baron Blitzkreig. If we were, in fact, doing a Nazi being played by an African American, I would expect us to be very duly Internet chastised.”

“Arrow” Season 4 premiers Wednesday, October 7th on the CW.
