Alex Kingston To Return For Doctor Who 2015 Christmas Special

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21944:]]

The BBC has announced Alex Kingston will reprise as River Song for the 2015 Doctor Who Christmas special.

Time traveller River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.

Day one of filming the eleventh Doctor Who Christmas Special starts this week and is written by Lead Writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat, produced by Nikki Wilson and directed by Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who, Sherlock).

River Song made her first Doctor Who appearance in 2008 in ‘Silence in the Library’ and ‘Forest of the Dead’ and has appeared in 15 episodes to date.

Award winning Alex Kingston comments on her reappearance, “To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special. Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with humour and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at Monday’s read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to start filming with him and the Doctor Who team. Christmas in September? Why not!”

Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, adds, “Another Christmas, another special for Doctor Who – and what could be more special than the return of Alex Kingston as Professor River Song? The last time the Doctor saw her she was a ghost. The first time he met her, she died. So how can he be seeing her again? CBS Cancels Under The Dome

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21910:]]

Following three seasons, CBS has cancelled the Stephen King series Under The Dome.

While the series initially premiered to high ratings, subsequent episodes and seasons have not done all that well.

Under The Dome will end with the September 10th finale, but CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler offers the show will give fans closure.

“Two years ago, Under the Dome broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world,” Tassler offered. “Dome’s event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of Extant and Zoo. We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the Dome coming down as dramatically as it went up.”

As THR notes, Under The Dome debuted to record ratings back in 2013 with 13.5 million viewers, but recent episodes have been netting barely half that number.

CBS also released the following promo for Under The Dome for the show’s final episodes:

First Look At Lucy Lane In Supergirl

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21909:]]

Check out a first look at Lucy Lane in the CBS Supergirl TV series.

EW.com debuted the image of Jenna Dewan-Tatum playing Lucy Lane alongside Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen and Melissa Benoist as Kara.

Lucy Lane, the younger sister to Lois Lane, is described in the series as: “strong, smart and successful in her own right. She’s got a history with Jimmy Olsen and she’s come to town to right a previous wrong.”

“We hope to explore the history that Lucy has with James Olsen — or, as Lucy knows him, Jimmy Olsen,”  executive producer Ali Adler teased. “I think we’re going to bring in her father. She not only plays a romantic foil with whatever Kara and James are brewing, but people will also be surprised that she’s really a woman’s woman. She and Kara develop their own friendship, too. We’re not just bringing her in to purposefully create tension. She serves a larger story drive.”

Lucy Lane’s father happens to be General Sam Lane, and in the comics, Lucy Lane becomes Superwoman with her costume featuring a containment field that simulated Kryptonian powers.

“Supergirl” premieres Monday, October 26 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.

More Green Lantern Teased For Arrow Season 4

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21908:]]

Despite reports stating Green Lantern is not allowed for Arrow because of the recently announced Green Lantern Corps movie, Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has just teased the character in a big way.

Marc Guggenheim took to his Ow.ly account to post an image of a Coast City billboard that reads:

In brightest day
In blackest night
Come to Coast City
When money’s tight

Fans of Green Lantern will obviously recognize the reference to the Green Lantern oath.

There have been many references to Coast City and Green Lantern throughout the Arrow and The Flash Universe, with the biggest tease coming with mention of a missing pilot, another obvious nod to Hal Jordan.

Stephen Amell also recently stated it would be cool to have Green Latern as well.

Regarding WB not allowing Green Lantern for Arrow or The Flash, Guggenheim recently stated: “They announced the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t include Hal Jordan. It would be great but I doubt it very much.”

I suppose we can note Guggenheim didn’t specifically state that they couldn’t use Hal Jordan, just that he doubted it, so at least that does leave the possibility open that WB will let Green Lantern appear on Arrow and/or The Flash in some capacity.

Zoom’s Voice Cast For The Flash Season 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21906:]]

The Flash Season 2 has found its villain.

Variety reports Tony Todd has been cast as the voice of The Flash villain, Zoom.

Todd, known for Candyman, is reported to voice Zoom who will first appear in the second episode, which is titled: “The Flash of Two Worlds.”

“Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg offered. “Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd. The Zoom outfit is much more organic than the Reverse-Flash suit. In a way, it’s hard to tell if it is a suit or alive… There’s no skin showing, for all you know there’s a robot underneath, or dark energy.”

Regarding what drives Zoom, Kreisberg said: “For us, the best villains are the ones who don’t have megalomaniacal ‘I want to rule the world’ motivations. Last year, the Reverse-Flash had a very simple goal which was ‘I just want to go home, and if people need to die or cities need to get wasted for me to get that, so be it.’ And Zoom has a very similar, personal goal this season… simple and easy to understand, and very primal. And just as with Wells last year, Zoom doesn’t care who gets hurt or what gets destroyed in the service of him getting his goal.”

“The Flash” Season 2 premiers Tuesday, October 6th on the CW.

Awkward teen Tommy (Robbie Kay, “Once Upon a Time”) just wants to be normal and win the girl of his dreams, Emily (Gatlin Green, “Criminal Minds”), but normalcy is virtually impossible after learning of a new ability that terrifies him. Coming from a very sheltered upbringing, a bold and ethereal teenager, Malina (Danika Yarosh, “Shameless”), has been told she is destined for greatness. In Tokyo, a quiet and unique young woman, Miko (Kiki Sukezane, “Death Yankee 3”), is trying to track down her missing father while hiding an extraordinary secret that will make her a force to bereckoned with. Elsewhere, a different type of hero is emerging through former soldier Carlos (Ryan Guzman, “The Boy Next Door”). Meanwhile, Erica (Rya Kihlstedt, “Masters of Sex”), the head of the highly successful tech conglomerate Renautas, has an agenda of her own.

For better or for worse, some are fated to cross paths with assorted heroes of the past, including Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), among others.
