Zoom Confirmed For The Flash Season 2 Villain

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21347:]]

Coming out of tonight’s WBTV Panel at Comic-Con it’s been confirmed The Flash Season 2 villain will be Zoom.

No specific details or casting has been announced but The Flash EP Andrew Kreisberg teased: “He’s going to be faster than the Reverse-Flash, faster than the Flash, and it’s going to be very hard to catch him. Zoom is going to be terrifying and scary and fast, and it’s going to be all kinds of cool.”

Zoom is originally a Wally West villain named Hunter Zolomon whose father was a serial killer. His origin story is actually pretty cool in that while attempting to understand the criminal mind, he joined the FBI and ended up as a criminal profiler in Keystone City. Eventually, Zolomon is left paralyzed in a prison breakout by Gorilla Grodd and asked Wally West to use the time travelling cosmic treadmill to undo the accident; however, when Wally refused, Hunter attempted to use the treadmill himself, which resulted in another accident giving Hunter his “Zoom” powers. Hunter takes a turn for the worse deciding that Wally needs to suffer a personal tragedy as well and becomes Zoom.

Obviously, we could see similar elements playing into The Flash series as Grodd and the treadmill were featured in Season 1, but they will just use Barry in place of Wally.

Should be good.

The Flash Season 2 premiers Tuesday, October 6th on the CW.

Hawkman Confirmed For DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21345:]]

With Ciara Renee playing Hawkgirl for DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, it only makes sense we’ll eventually get to see Hawkman.

Tonight at Comic-Con saw confirmation that Hawkman will be a part of the series.

Deadline also notes Marc Guggenheim announced that the initial episodes of this season’s Arrow and The Flash will set the groundwork for the midseason series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Caity Lotz also talked about reviving her character through use of the Lazarus pit: “We’ve seen on Arrowthe people who go into the pit aren’t the same person who come out. There’s the consequences of that now, and I at least want her to go nuts off her rocker.”

Ciarra Renee offered she is preparing for Hawkgirl by: “reading all the comic books, catching up on Arrow and The Flashand boxing and martial arts.”

The CW also released an “Hero Evolution” trailer for DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow mashing footage with comic panels.

Jay Garrick Cast For The Flash

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21344:]]

Following confirmation that Jay Garrick will appear in The Flash Season 2, now coming out of tonight’s Comic-Con sees the actor named that will play the character.

Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex, 666, American Horror Story) will play Jay Garrick in The Flash Season 2 with the character described as an enigmatic individual who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of a looming danger that he alone can’t stop.

“Jay Garrick has never been portrayed in live action,” EP Andrew Kreisberg said at the SDCC (via Deadline). “Now that we established our Flash, we thought it would be great to bring in the original Flash to create a brand new relationship with Barry.”

It was also announced Shantel VanSanten (The Messengers) will be playing Patty Spivot, a cop and science enthusiast who is unaware that Barry Allen is falling for he; she is obsessed with metahumans and partners with Det. Joe West this season. EP Andrew Kreisberg said that Patty Spivot’s addition helps “complicate Barry Allen’s love life in Season 2.”

“We were huge fans of The Messengers and are excited to have Shantel join us to help complicate Barry Allen’s love life in season two,” said Kreisberg about VanSanten’s casting.

The Flash Season 2 premiers October 6th.

In addition to the new promo for DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, it’s been confirmed that Jay Garrick will be featured in The Flash Season 2.

DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the news at the “DC Entertainment: From Page to Screen” panel at Comic-Con.

Jay Garrick’s helmet was featured in an episode of The Flash when the time vortex was open.

A rumor from about a month ago, which may have been a reference to Jay Garrick, also mentioned a new hero would be coming to The Flash described as: a season-long role of a classically handsome, square-jawed hero in his 30s to early 40s, a slightly cynical man “with an edge.”

Jay Garrick’s helmet is also on display on the Comic-Con floor as part of The Flash Season 2 display.

Possible Peek at Flash Season 2 Costume From Comic-Con

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21275:]]

Check out an image from the floor of Comic-Con revealing what may be a peek at the new Flash costume for Season 2.

Apparently somone snapped a pic of The Flash display where we can see the brighter colored red suit with a white symbol.

Jay Garrick’s helmet is also featured, which may mean the character will be appearing in Season 2 as well.

Another possibility is that The Flash suit in this display is just the costume from the future Flash — seen when Barry went back in time and watched his mother’s death.

We’ll probably learn more at the WB TV panel on Saturday.

Young Han Solo Star Wars Movie In Development

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21259:]]

Update: StarWars.com has confirmed Christopher Miller and Phil Lord will helm a Han Solo Star Wars anthology movie (read the official announcment below).

It’s being reported plans are underway for a Star Wars spinoff movie featuring a young Han Solo.

THR reports Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the duo behind The LEGO Movie and the Jump Street movies, will be writing, directing and producing the Han Solo Star Wars anthology movie for Disney.

It’s noted this is a new Star Wars project and not the one that was to have been directed by Josh Trank, who recently parted ways with Disney. According to the report, Trank’s Star Wars movie is the origin story for Boba Fett and is still searching for a director.

It’s noted that Miller and Lord were to direct The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller, but it’s stated that is likely off the table as is the third Jump Street movie. It’s is mentioned the duo could still stay on as writers and/or producers on both The Flash and another Jump Street.

The planned animated Spider-Man movie at Sony from Lord and Miller may still be intact as they are only set to write a treatment for the story and produce.

It’s further said Miller and Lord will still be involved in the LEGO movie franchise, but in what capacity is unclear.

A young Han Solo Star Wars project has been rumored for some time, with Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul said to be up for the role at one time.

Update:

Info:

CHRISTOPHER MILLER AND PHIL LORD TO HELM HAN SOLO ANTHOLOGY FILM

THE DUO BEHIND THE LEGO MOVIE WILL DIRECT AN EARLY TALE OF THE SMUGGLER-TURNED-HERO, WITH A SCREENPLAY BY LAWRENCE AND JON KASDAN.

The next adventure in the Anthology series of Star Wars films will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, whose credits include the critically acclaimed The LEGO Movie and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, as well as 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. Among the most sought-after filmmakers working today, the two have proven a formidable duo on the multiple films they’ve collaborated on and are looking forward to applying their unique creative chemistry to the Star Wars universe.

“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”

The screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.

Lawrence Kasdan, the writer and director known for Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill, and Grand Canyon, is familiar to Star Wars fans for having co-written the screenplays for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens. His son Jon Kasdan wrote and directed The First Time, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and In the Land of Women, as well as writing for the television series Freaks and Geeks and Dawson’s Creek.

We’re so excited to be working with Chris and Phil, who will bring a fresh new dimension to the Star Wars universe,” said the Kasdans. “They’re two of the smartest, funniest and most original filmmakers around, and the ideal choice to tell the story of Han Solo, one of the coolest characters in the galaxy.”

Kathleen Kennedy, who will be producing, says she can’t wait to discover what’s in store from these two extraordinary teams of directors and writers.

“It’s not just any filmmaker who can tell the story of such a beloved icon like Han Solo, and I’m excited to say we’ve found the perfect team to handle the task. Larry and Jon know all there is to know about the character, and Chris and Phil will bring their wit, style, energy and heart to tell Han’s story.”

Slated for a May 25, 2018 release, the film will be executive produced by Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin and co-produced by Will Allegra.

With the help of his new scientist friends at S.T.A.R Labs, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), and Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh), Barry begins a journey as The Flash to protect the people of Central City from these powerful new threats.  However, Barry’s mission gets sidetracked when he comes face to face with the Man in Yellow.  Barry isn’t fast enough to catch him bu in a shocking revelation the team figures out their beloved mentor, Harrison Wells, is in fact the Man in Yellow and the man responsible for killing Barry’s mother.  Harrison Wells reveals his true identity as Eobard Thawne, a man from the future who traveled back in time to kill Barry. When Barry is finally forced to confront Wells, will he be fast enough to catch him?  Or will Wells be successful in killing Barry and returning home to the future?

Robbie Amell Reveals Flash Cut Scene Featured Matter Manipulation

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20987:]]

Robbie Amell plays Ronnie Raymond, one half of the DC super hero Firestorm.

Fans of the comics that are familiar with the character known Firestorm to be a power house, and now Amell reveals a cut scene from an episode of The Flash featured Firestorm using his matter manipulation powers.

Amell tells Screen Rant they cut the scene because they felt it didn’t fit with the story, but offers we may see the new power in Season 2:

“The sad thing is there was a moment in the finale that had to be cut out – just because it was such a massive episode and it didn’t actually have anything to do with plot – where they introduced matter manipulation. There’s a scene where Danielle [Panabaker]’s character is checking my temperature and giving me the once-over. I call Victor in the room and we merge, and I turn her thermometer into a daffodil. It was just like a really nice, sweet way of showing… because she’s asking if we’re going to be OK, and I’m like, “Actually, we’re getting pretty good at this whole Firestorm thing.” And we merge without even missing a beat and turn that into a flower. It was a nice moment, but ultimately it just didn’t hold any bearing on the plot.

“So, matter manipulation I’m sure will be reintroduced, or maybe it will be available on the DVD director’s cut of the episode. But there’s so much they can do with this character. My biggest fear with the character was that he was too powerful. I think that sometimes that can be an issue. I feel like that’s the only problem I ever have with the Superman comic book, is other than kryptonite, how do you stop this guy? But they’ve done an unbelievable job.”

Other powers Firestorm uses in the comics that we have yet to see include affecting organic matter, regenerating lost limbs and tissues, shapeshifting, flying at super fast speed and become intangible.

New Hero Coming To The Flash Season 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20656:]]

A report is stating a new hero is coming to The Flash Season 2.

TV Line has it The Flash is casting a “season-long role of a classically handsome, square-jawed hero in his 30s to early 40s, a slightly cynical man ‘with an edge.’ “

It’s noted the casting call lists the character as “John Clark,” which they state is a nod to the DC Comics letterer of the same name and suggest the hero may be a character the letterer has worked on.

One character already hinted at in The Flash that DC Comics letterer John Clark has worked on is Jay Garrick (The Flash season finale featured Jay Garrick’s helmet).

Other potential characters may include Hawkman (especially considering Hawkgirl is a part of the spinoff DC Legends Of Tomorrow); Doctor Fate, Hourman (series has been said to be in development at the CW), and maybe Green Lantern.

TV Line also reported Barry will get a new love interest in Season 2 described as:

…a major recurring role of Wendy, a “spunky, fun and funny” romantic interest

• A cop for the Central City PD, Wendy is described as bright and scientific-minded — more specifically, “Think ‘Felicity Smoak’ from Arrow,”

Robbie Amell Is On The Set Of X-Men: Apocalypse

While Robbie Amell isn’t on DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, he is on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse.

It doesn’t appear as if Robbie Amell actually has a role in the film as he posts on his Instagram that he “asked 1000 xmen questions,” which sounds like something a “fan” would do.

In addition, Amell is currently in Montreal to film Nine Lives, which stars Jennifer Garner, Kevin Spacey and Christopher Walken. X-Men: Apocalypse is filming in Montreal as well.

You never know, though, perhaps Robbie Amell is killing two birds with one stone.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” has a May 27, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Oscar Issac.

The Flash Season Finale Easter Eggs

Last night saw The Flash season finale air, which was pretty darn amazing by all accounts.

The episode saw The Flash take on the Reverse Flash in a battle to save space and time, which it actually unleashed.

Barry was taken to the past where he went through a wormhole that also gave glimpses into his future, and Wells almost made it back to his future timeline.

Check out Easter Eggs from the episode, with the two biggest probably being the Jay Garrick helmet (that was previously leaked) as well as a first look at Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost in action.

The above video gives a great rundown as well (obvious spoiler warning), and whom I lifted some images and some info from.

THE FLASH SEASON FINALE EASTER EGGS:

Killer Frost:

Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost seen as Barry travelled through the worm hole (future version? alternate universe version?).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20655:]]

Jay Garrick:

Now I found this interesting as it seemed like the helmet was thrown through the wormhole, and when Wells saw it he quickly wanted out of there. Perhaps that meant Garrick was hot on his trail? Or Garrick at least knew about Thawne and the time changes.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20656:]]

Wormhole:

The wormhole looks to be way for the series to introduce new characters, with Dr. Alchemy and Mirror Master being introduced in Season 2. It’s also possible the wormhole could introduce alternate timeline characters.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20661:]]

Hawkgirl:

We saw a first look at Hawkgirl, played by Ciara Renee, who will be a part of DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20657:]]

Legends Of Tomorrow:

Barry saw The Legends Of Tomorrow as well.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20659:]]

New Flash costume:

Future Flash in the past scene wears a new costume (seen in future newspaper, I believe).

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20660:]]

Rip Hunter:

Wells name-dropped Rip Hunter, who first created the time sphere.; Rip Hunter is a member of DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20662:]]

Flash Museum:

The glimpse at the future revealed The Flash Museum.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20658:]]

Prison:

Possibly a look ahead to The Flash Season 2 as we see Barry, similar to his father, looks to be imprisoned.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20663:]]

Harrison Wells:

Tom Cavanaugh will be back for The Flash Season 2 as Harrison Wells, but exactly what Wells and what version remains to be seen.

Cisco:

Wells tells Cisco he is a metahuman, with Cisco in the comics being Vibe – Wells said, Cisco is “sensitive to the vibrations of the universe.”

Captain Cold:

The episode featured Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, another member of DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow

Stan Lee:

Dr. Stein says he may exclaim “Excelsior” if Barry can time travel.

Star Wars:

“May the speedforce be with you.”

Flashpoint:

Barry doesn’t save his mother in the episode because of what it may change, which looks to be a reference to the DC Comics event Flashpoint where Barry wakes up and everything has changed for the worse as a result of his mother being alive.

Update:

Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy:

First Look At Spoiler From The Flash Season 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20640:]]

Spoilers follow for tonight’s season finale of The Flash.

As Flash was accessing the speed force and travelling through the wormhole he saw glimpses of his past, present – and future!

Now we know why Danielle Panabaker dropped spoiler bombs the other day – it’s because this episode gave us a first look at Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost! Check it out below.

The episode also saw Wells reveal to Cisco that Cisco is a metahuman, which explains why Cisco could remember the alternate timeline. In DC Comics lore, Cisco goes by the name of Vibe, and was recently given a new set of powers possibly making Cisco one of the most powerful metahumans on the planet, which we now see seems to fit in with The Flash TV series.
