Jesse L. Martin Taking Leave of Absence From The Flash

Jesse L. Martin Taking Leave of Absence From The Flash

It’s learned that Jesse L. Martin will be taking a leave of absence from The Flash due to a back injury suffered when the show was on hiatus.

Both TV Line and EW.com confirm the news, which follows scenes with his character, Detective Joe West, having been seen seated in almost all of the footage this season (and explains why Joe didn’t attack Cicada last night and looked rather uncomfortable).

“Jesse Martin is taking a medical leave of absence from The Flash. We wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to his return as Detective Joe West,” said the studio in a statement provided to EW.com.

It’s further said the show will have a storyline set up to address why Jesse L. Martin and Joe West take a leave of absence.

The Flash returns with all-new episodes on November 13.

The series also stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Danielle Nicolet, and Hartley Sawyer.
