Zoom’s Voice Cast For The Flash Season 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21906:]]

The Flash Season 2 has found its villain.

Variety reports Tony Todd has been cast as the voice of The Flash villain, Zoom.

Todd, known for Candyman, is reported to voice Zoom who will first appear in the second episode, which is titled: “The Flash of Two Worlds.”

“Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg offered. “Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd. The Zoom outfit is much more organic than the Reverse-Flash suit. In a way, it’s hard to tell if it is a suit or alive… There’s no skin showing, for all you know there’s a robot underneath, or dark energy.”

Regarding what drives Zoom, Kreisberg said: “For us, the best villains are the ones who don’t have megalomaniacal ‘I want to rule the world’ motivations. Last year, the Reverse-Flash had a very simple goal which was ‘I just want to go home, and if people need to die or cities need to get wasted for me to get that, so be it.’ And Zoom has a very similar, personal goal this season… simple and easy to understand, and very primal. And just as with Wells last year, Zoom doesn’t care who gets hurt or what gets destroyed in the service of him getting his goal.”

“The Flash” Season 2 premiers Tuesday, October 6th on the CW.

No More DC Spinoffs For The CW: Open To Supergirl Crossover

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21695:]]

With four DC shows on the slate (Arrow, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, iZombie), it’s learned The CW is putting a hold on anymore spinoffs or series from DC Comics.

The LA Times reports CW president Mark Pedowitz stated there are no plans for additional series at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“There is no intention, at this point, to spin anything else off,” Pedowitz said.

It’s also learned that The CW passed on Supergirl, which went to CBS, as The CW was intent on increasing their male viewership, which is why they decided to go with The Flash. The CW was actually approached with Supergirl before The Flash, but the article notes The CW didn’t want to “commit to another superhero series because it would detract from its overall mission to broaden out.”

While Supergirl is on another network, it’s created by the same team behind Arrow and The Flash; Pedowitz did note the three series will have cross-promotions, and Pedowitz also noted the possibility for a Supergirl/Arrow/Flash crossover is there.

“We’re open to crossovers,” Pedowitz said. “It’s [EP Greg Berlanti’s] call because he understands his shows.”

The poster also apparently gives a first look at Jay Garrick’s costume in Season 2 of The Flash.

Keiynan Lonsdale Cast As Wally West In The Flash

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21622:]]

Wally West is confirmed for The Flash, which will be played by Divergent actor Keiynan Lonsdale.

“Keiynan Lonsdale will be joining The Flash this winter in the role of Wally West, an iconic character from The Flash Universe who became the speedster known as Kid Flash,” the CW said in a statement.

The CW version of Wally West being played by an African-American shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans of the series as both Joe and Iris West are played by African-American actors. In addition, the New 52 version of Wally West is African-American as well.

Both DC and Marvel have been replacing their characters with more “PC-friendly” versions.

The original Wally West was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino and introduced in The Flash #110 (1959).

The CW DC universe has its Hawkman, which will be played by Falk Hentschel.

Hentschel, known for the Reckless TV series and Transcendence, will first be seen as Carter Hall in episodes of Arrow and The Flash prior to joining DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow.

A previously released description for Hawkman mentioned:

Described as charismatic and wise beyond his years, Hawkman is a natural-born leader with an abundance of charm and confidence—well, that’s because he’s 5,000 years old. Much like the comic book iteration, Carter retains his memories of his past lives each time he is reborn, though his lover (aka Hawkgirl) is born anew. In other words, Kendra Saunders will have no idea who he is at first.

Ciara Renee is playing Hawkgirl.

Gustin, when trying out for the part, said he realized he wasn’t Chris or Liam Hemsworth and was also aware of the look of the character in the comics.

Worth a mention is that Gustin reveals the character breakdown for The Flash in the series said Barry has blond hair.

With Gustin obviously landing the role, it seems the show’s producers decided to simply keep with the dark hair of Gustin.

“It wasn’t something like I was ‘oh, I’m going to book this,” Gustin said. “But it went my way.”

Watch: Ezra Miller Talks The Flash; Mentions Parallel Universe With TV

Do we have our first confirmation of  DC movie/TV multiverse?

Maybe not, but watch the video above of the DCCU Flash Ezra Miller talking how excited he is about playing Barry Allen where he’s questioned about watching the TV Flash. Miller responds rather enthusiastically that he thinks the TV series is “awesome” and “it’s parallel universes.”

Here are some of the highlights:

On The Flash:

Barry Allen is the hero of the Silver Age who follows a lot of really interesting discoveries in physics. Where he comes from, we figured out the Event Horizon was there, and he was the character who was created through our mythos machine of comic books to break that Event Horizon, so we could explore in fantasy… I think that’s an interesting idea, and what’s an interesting idea to me is, ‘What the f**k does that do to someone?’

Talks about Zack Snyder:

Zack got on the phone and said some stuff. I was pretty quickly sold.

The Flash TV Series:

I’m not avoiding it. I’m not avoiding it at all. I think it’s awesome! C’mon, we’re The Flash! It’s parallel universes! Grant Gustin is The Flash AND I’m The Flash, don’t you see? It’s the Event Horizon, we crossed it baby! Grant and I are chillin’, we’re gonna have a race, it’s gonna be dope. Like Jay Garrick and Barry Allen back in the day. It’s going to be dope!

On reading comics:

I’ve been a comic guy, but I’m going in as hard as possible because I have a serious excuse to. I have the ultimate license to geek out SO HARD all the time! Do you understand what I’m going through?!

“The Flash” movie has a 2018 release.
