Ezra Miller Flash Movie Gets Moved Up

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24240:]]

It’s being reported the Ezra Miller The Flash movie has been moved up a week by Warner Bros. from from March 23, 2018 to March 16, 2018.

WB has yet to officially announce a release date for The Flash film, but the March 2018 release date has been heavily speculated for a while. Below you can check out the recent Dawn of the Justice League Flash featurette. Ezra Miller will also first appear in Batman Vs. Superman.

It’s also reported WB has given an “event film” a March 2, 2018 release date, and also a New Line tentpole release (Dwayne Johnson San Andreas sequel? Shazam?) on April 20, 2018.

In addition, Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One has changed its release date as a result of the new December 2017 Star Wars: Episode VIII release date. Ready Player One will now get released on March 30, 2018.

TV Fan Blasts Marc Guggenheim “Over Slap To The Face” Because Of Suicide Squad Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24214:]]

I always love when I hear executives state the movies don’t affect the comics or TV universes.

Case in point: Current Marvel Comics EIC Axel Alonso regularly states the movies don’t affect the comics. We know that isn’t true as Matt Fraction stated the Thor movie interfered with how he wrote his Thor comic; we know Abnett and Lanning were kicked off their Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova comics because of Gunn’s film; we know the Inhumans are replacing the X-Men, and we know Marvel Comics cancelled the Fantastic Four because of the Fox movie. We also know the last ten or so years has seen Marvel Comics focus on the Avengers, and not the X-Men. And Steve Roger is returning as Captain America.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24220:]]

Regarding the DC Comics, legendary creator George Perez was pretty clear when he stated the Man of Steel people messed with his New 52 Superman comic, which is why he left.

And we also know the same happens with the DC TV universe.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24223:]]

Because of the Suicide Squad movie, Deadshot is “off the table,” Harley Quinn was shelved, and with the recent death of Amanda Waller in Arrow, it’s easy to guess the same thing happened with her character. Batman and Superman are also off limits for the Flash and Arrow universe, and Arrow couldn’t use Blue Beetle, so they went with Atom instead. Now it’s learned Deadstroke is also shelved (see below).

We can also speculate as a result of the new Green Lantern Corps movie, that now Green Lantern is also off limits.

There has been some online chatter amongst fans asking why this is the case — as the DC execs regularly state the movie and TV universes are separate. Zack Snyder recently said more of the same. So why then can’t they have the same characters? If I had to guess, my answer as to why the TV characters are being shelved is not to compete with their movie counterparts. We can probably thank Grant Gustin’s Flash for that. I’ve said it before, I think DC has finally found their “Spider-Man” with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and The Flash. The series is popular amongst casual fans, young fans, hard core fans and older fans (WB really needs to start heavily promoting Gustin and the series). I think WB is going to find it difficult to sell the Ezra Miller Flash to the fanbase. We see they have already started spinning that we should accept Miller because there are different universes. Ezra Miller has probably been coached on the topic as in interviews he’s mentioned multiple realities/universes/dimensions. The controversy has even caused Grant Gustin to come out and tell fans that he supports Miller.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24218:]]

Now executive producer Marc Guggenheim is feeling the heat as fans asked and complained on Tumblr about the TV characters getting the axe, specifically the Arrow Suicide Squad characters with Deadshot, Deathstroke and Amanda Waller.

Fan #1: Any possible chance of either Slade or Walter returning throughout the rest of Season 4? #Arrow

MG: The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project.  Walter is more likely.

Fan #2: You said that only Deadshot was off-limits, and Amanda Waller & Deathstroke are safe. But you guys killed Waller off just like that, and she doesn’t seem like she will ever return(Because bullet to head). Who’s next to be killed off? Katana? Once Deathstroke arrives in the DC movie, will he be also killed off too? This is really frustrating, that all awesome characters are being written off, because of the Suicide Squad movie, and is a slap to the face of Arrow fans.

MG: Um… I never said that.

Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, who may just be as frustrated as a lot of fans are (Amell has been vocal about wanting to be in Justice League with Gustin as the movie Flash), recently stated in an interview he thinks Arrow is missing Deathstroke.

“Manu [Bennett] is a character, and Manu played a great character. And I really honestly think that Arrow has been missing something since he hasn’t been around. I really do. He was a transformative villain. I would really love it if Deathstroke could keep being a part of the Arrow universe,” Amell said.

Sorry to say, Stephen, per Guggenheim’s words, that isn’t going to be the case. Let’s just hope Green Arrow doesn’t appear in the DCCU any time soon, eh?

Watch: Grant Gustin Flash Vs. 90’s John Wesley Shipp Flash

Watch The Flash vs. The Flash!

Hey, anything is possible with The Flash!

Check out a super cool video above featuring footage from the current Grant Gustin TV series mashed with the footage from the ’90s John Wesley Shipp series.

New York Magazine put together the footage:

Back in the 1990s, there was a failed TV show about DC Comics superhero The Flash. Nowadays, there’s a hit one. We imagine a cross-dimensional tussle in which one Barry Allen tries to get the upper hand against the other.

John Wesley Shipp is currently playing the father to Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen, maybe there is some truth to the above video (spoilers?!)?

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on the CW.

Kevin Smith Says Justice League Movie Universe Crossing Over With TV A Possibility

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23982:]]

With the controversy surrounding the casting of The Flash in the Justice League movie universe, with Ezra Miller, and the TV universe, Grant Gustin, there may come a potential resolution.

Have them both appear on screen together.

While it has been said the DC movies and TV shows are separate, if you happen to be a fan of the comics, you know there is an infinite number of possibilities that could make the two connect — all we have to do is point to this season of The Flash as evidence enough as we see there are alternate universes and portals.

Kevin Smith recently co-hosted the “Dawn of the Justice League” special with DC Entertainment chief creative officer and DC comic book writer Geoff Johns. Following the special, Smith appeared on his podcast and mentioned he talked with Johns about the possibility of the DC movie universe crossing over with the TV universe, which was cut from the show (via CBR):

“We did a piece where we talked about — I don’t know how much I’m supposed to say because they cut it out,” Smith said on the podcast. “But the idea [came up] of, ‘Hey man, DC is known for nothing if not a multiverse,’ so at which point I was like [to Johns], ‘Could they fucking crossover?’ And he was like, ‘Ahh.’ So doors are being left open and stuff like that. Think about this, you can have Ezra Miller be the Flash and you could also have Grant be the Flash, because there’s a multiverse at work.”

Even Arrow‘s Stephen Amell has campaigned to appear in the movie universe and backed Gustin as The Flash. Perhaps either Part 1 or Part 2 of the Justice League movies will be some sort of adpaptation of DC’s Crisis On Infinite Earths featuring all the DC heroes on screen together?

Ezra Miller may have hinted at the possibility of a crossover as he talked about other realities in the “Dawn of the Justice League” Flash segment:

Major Character Getting Killed Off In The Flash

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23977:]]

Spoilers(?) follow for The Flash?

Robbie Amell is returning to The Flash, but not as Firestorm, he’s playing Deathstorm!

And true to his character, Robbie Amell has now let it be known Deathstorm will be killing off a major character in the series.

While attending this weekend’s Heroes and Villains Fan Fest, Amell dropped the following bomb:

“In episode 13, so in a couple weeks, you’ll see me as Deathstorm, and Caitlin as Killer Frost. So I get to come back, and I kill a series regular. So there’s that, I’m probably going to get in trouble for saying that.”

It’s unknown who could be getting killed off, or even if the death will stick as the episode takes place in Earth-2. Could Deathstorm be killing off an Earth-2 version of a series regular? Or is this the end of another series regular (Eddie Thawne died last season)?

Episode 13, “Welcome To Earth-2,” airs February 9th.

“The Flash” airs on the CW Tuesdays at 8pm ET starring Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin.

Grant Gustin Responds To Ezra Miller Flash Bashing

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23952:]]

Following the recent “Dawn of the Justice League” special which featured concept art of Ezra Miller as The Flash in addition to comments from the actor, some fans took to their social networks to voice their support for the TV version of The Flash, Grant Gustin.

In case you aren’t aware, the DC TV universe (Arrow, Flash) is differerent and separate than the movie universe (Batman Vs. Superman, Justice League). Grant Gustin plays Barry Allen, aka The Flash, on the TV series, while Ezra Miller has been cast for the DC movies.

Now this has caused some contention amongst the fans as many feel Grant Gustin should be the movie version of The Flash  (Arrow star Stephen Amell shares similar sentiments), and Gustin has taken notice.

Grant Gustin took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts on the casting and offered his support for Ezra Miller while also noting he, of course, would have liked to play the movie Flash.

Tonight you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe in DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League! The CW special, hosted by Kevin Smith and Geoff Johns, will air at 9:30 (EST) and walk DC fans through the slate of movies, give some in-depth info about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and premiere the new Suicide Squad trailer!

While the special is going to feature interviews with the obvious suspects of Ben “Batman” Affleck, Henry “Supes” Cavill, and director Zack “Sound-of-Zod’s-Neck-Snapping” Snyder, the part we’re most excited about are the interviews with our new Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, and the director of the upcoming WW film, Patty Jenkins. That film, set for June 2017, will mark the first time Wonder Woman has starred in a solo outing, and we are just slightly excited to see it.
