Marvel Phase 2 Contains Same Star Wars Easter Eggs

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20174:]]

It seems just about everyone missed this one as Kevin Feige has let it be known he included the same Star Wars Easter Egg in each of the Marvel Phase 2 movies.

Speaking with CinemaBlend, Feige said he is a big Star Wars fan and offered:

So is this a spoiler for Ant-Man… not really. I’m obsessed with Star Wars. Who’s not? I’m 40 years old. I’m in the movie business. I went to USC. So I’m obsessed with Star Wars – and it didn’t start out as intentional, but it became intentional, including that beat that you referenced. It sort of happens in every Star Wars movie, but I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our Empire Strikes Back?’ Not really, but tonally things are a little different. Somebody gets their arm cut off in every Phase Two movie. Every single one.

Regarding the Easter Eggs:

Iron Man 3 featured Guy Pearce’s character, Aldrich Killian, getting his arm cut off by Tony Stark when he heats up Iron Man’s suit and the end of the movie.

Thor 2 features Thor getting his arm “cut off” by Loki.

Captain America 2 features a flashback where Bucky had his own arm cut off when he fell from the train in Captain America: The First Avenger.

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy also had a similar Star Wars Easter Egg with Gamora cutting Groot’s arm off (this might be the enigmatic Easter Egg Gunn keeps referring to that he says everyone missed).

Those are the Star Wars Easter Eggs known to date as The Avengers 2 is yet to be released – so be on the look out for someone getting their arm cut off just like Luke Skywalker from Empire Strikes Back.

Germany Movie Theaters Boycotting Avengers 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20163:]]

The Avengers will not be reassembling to battle Ultron in hundreds of German movie theaters.

It’s reported that up to 600 smaller movie theaters in Germany will not be showing The Avengers: Age Of Ultron to protest against Disney’s pricing policy.

According the the German website Faz.net (translate via Bing), movie theater owners are upset that Disney takes 53% of each ticket price.

The theater owners argue there has always been an unwritten rule that the pricing is flexible for the smaller theaters, but now that isn’t the case, so the owners just won’t show the movie.

Disney already nabs the 53% in the big city theaters.

It’s noted movie theaters across Germany recently upgraded their theaters and screens, with it mentioned it will take longer for the small movie theaters to recoup the costs.

The Avengers scored close to $31 million in Germany back in 2012.

Watch: Avengers 2 UK Press Conference: Planet Hulk Anyone?

The Avengers 2 premiered in the US, and then a press conference was held featuring Joss Whedon, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Paul Bettany.

The cast took questions ranging from the female empowerment of Scarlet Witch and Black Widow to Joss Whedon returning to Marvel (he says he wouldn’t go far away) to a rather enigmatic response regarding the future of the Hulk from Whedon and Mark Ruffalo.

Spoiler alert for those wanting absolutely nothing to know about the movie, though specifics are not mentioned.

If you follow all the news, you realize plans for the Hulk haven’t been made known. The Hulk is the only member of the Avengers who is not confirmed for a future movie. While Whedon and Ruffalo’s response doesn’t specifically state what happens to the Hulk in the movie, it’s suggested the Hulk may be going away for a long time (due to whatever) and possibly coming back in a big way.

You can watch the Hulk question above around the 20:18 mark.

“Do you want to tell them?” Ruffalo asks Whedon.

“No. You go,” laughs Whedon.

“I can’t,” responds Ruffalo. “Sorry. Can’t.”

“It’s too amazing,” Whedon adds.

It has been long speculated by fans that Marvel may be doing a Planet Hulk film, which may eventually lead to a World War Hulk movie as well. Ruffalo also recently revealed Marvel doesn’t hold the rights to a solo Hulk film, so what exactly is going on remains to be seen (perhaps a “team” Planet Hulk movie?).

Whedon Confirms Avengers 2 Spider-Man Post-Credit Scene Is Fake (Video)

A couple of days ago saw a video hit the net claiming to be the actual Avengers 2 post-credit scene featuring Spider-Man, which has accumulated well over 1 million views on YouTube.

Now director Josh Whedon has been asked about it’s authenticity where he states it’s not real.

“Yeah, that’s not real,” Whedon says and shakes his head no in the video above. “I don’t know where that started. It is not in fact part of the movie, and I don’t know who came up with it. We want it to be clear there is no tag scene at the very, very end of the film because after sitting through forty minutes of credits, not seeing anything, we thought people would become irate. No. I don’t know where that started.”

More Villains Than Thanos For Avengers: Infinity War Says Whedon

Marvel Avengers: Infinity War Teaser

Marvel’s Phase 3 will culminate with The Avengers: Infinity War movies where the Marvel heroes will be taking on the cosmic bad guy Thanos.

It seems following the post-credit scene in Avengers and the Thanos scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy, some fans thought the Mad Titan should have been the villain of Avengers 2.

Now a reporter for Vulture has posted an excerpt from an interview with Joss Whedon where Whedon tackles the question regarding Thanos in Avengers 2.

Whedon says Thanos was never meant to be the villain of Avengers 2, but just a puppet-master, and then would be the villain the Avengers would face off against. Whedon then goes on to state that Thanos won’t be the sole villain in Avengers: Infinity War as Whedon is “sure there’ll be plenty more [villains] in that monstrous epic.” Whedon explains his reasoning for additional villains is that “Marvel doesn’t string a story out into two movies that should’t be two movies. They’ll give you two big movies.”

Whedon’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits May 1st; The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2 have May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release dates, respectively. Josh Brolin is playing Thanos.

Joss Whedon Faces $10 Million Lawsuit Over Cabin In The Woods

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20063:]]

With The Avengers 2 set to open in only two weeks, Joss Whedon has been hit with a $10 million copyright infringement lawsuit over the 2012 movie Cabin In The Woods.

THR reports in addition to Whedon, director and co-creator Drew Goddard and Lionsgate have been named as defendants on the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed by Peter Joseph Gallagher who claims Whedon and Goddard infringed on his novel, The Little White Trip: A Night In The Pines, which is claimed to shared similar themes, characters and instances with the movie.

Gallagher alleges that Goddard and Whedon came to know about his book when he self-published the novel and “began grassroots efforts” to sell it on the Venice Beach boardwalk and on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade. “[The defendants] currently reside and operate out of Santa Monica, California, a short distance from where the Book was sold,” the lawsuit reads.

You can read the full complaint here.

Cabin In The Woods grossed about $67 million at the box office and instantly became a cult-favorite. It’s a great horror flick, if you haven’t seen it.

Update: The teaser is now online and can be watched below. You can find info on the IMAX locations for the full trailer here.

Earlier today saw Zack Snyder post and image of himself with a monstrous-sized IMAX camera.

Now it’s being said Snyder and Warner Bros. will be releasing a super-short teaser on Thursday, with the Batman Vs. Superman trailer arriving some time next week.

Latino’s Review El Mayimbe is the source of the info, which is said to be corroborated by other websites.

If true, the info contradicts a composer on the movie who stated the Batman Vs. Superman trailer is attached to the May 15th release of Mad Max; the composer, Junkie XL, has since deleted the tweets.

It’s rumored that Zack Snyder will be releasing five seconds of the Batman Vs. Superman footage at 9am on Thursday, which is an hour before the start of Disney’s Star Wars Celebration, where it’s also rumored the next Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will debut.

If the info is legit, the Batman Vs. Superman five-second teaser will also give details how to view the trailer in theaters the following Monday.

It’s also said the Batman Vs. Superman trailer will run in front of Avengers 2, which is out May 1st (and earlier in international locations).

Update: The British Board Of Film Classification, which is a web site that lists trailer info, has the Batman vs. Superman trailer listed with a run-time of 2 minutes 6 seconds.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

James Gunn Talks Guardians of the Galaxy 2 & 3

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20049:]]

James Gunn recently attended the Red Carpet premiere for The Avengers 2 where he discussed Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and even mentioned a third film.

Vulture caught up with Gunn who teased the sequel will be more about Star-Lord and his father. Star-Lord’s father was absent from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but is said to be an alien (though apparently SL’s father will be different than the comics).

“There’s a lot of stuff I’m excited about in the new movie,” Gunn offered. “Listen, I’m still excited about Star-Lord’s character and where he goes. At its heart, Guardians is a story about families, and if the first film was about him and his mother, this is a story about fathers. So it’s exciting to go there.”

As Gunn notes “fathers,” perhaps he is also talking about the “fathers” of the other characters as well. Maybe we’ll learn more about the Gamora, Nebula and Thanos relationship or even about Drax’s origins. It’s even possible we could learn more about where Groot came from.

With the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie being such a success, Disney quickly announced a sequel, so it should be no surprise that Gunn mentions the possibility of a third film.

“I knew for a long time what the story of the second one was gonna be,” Gunn said, before teasing, “And the third one!”

Update: Gunn offers more in the following video with: “I think it’s about getting to know the characters a little bit more… and also get a little bit more – I don’t want to say serious – but go a little bit deeper with who the characters are.”

Gunn also says we’ll get to know more from Gamora, Nebula and Yondu “in a way we got to know some of the characters in the first movie.”

Update #2: Gunn offered the follwing on Facebook:

I did five short interviews on the red carpet at the Age of Ultron premiere, and it’s all been distilled to three topics: 1) Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is about Fatherhood, 2) We’ll get to know Gamora, Nebula, and Yondu more in the sequel, and 3) I think the mix for Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is better than Awesome mix Vol. 1. There. I just saved you ten thousand articles.

PS All of this is subject to change. Although I have a very intense and specific 70 page treatment (or scriptment as it’s often called, because it contains dialogue), I am just now diving into the actual script. If inspiration strikes I can, and often do, diverge wildly from my original plan. In a couple weeks, Guardians 2 could center around the love triangle of Awesome Android, Paste Pot Pete, and Taserface, backed by an all-Spice-Girls soundtrack.

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” has a May 5, 2017 release.
