No John Boyega For Black Panther
Contrary to internet rumor, John Boyega will not be appearing in the Black Panther movie.
Actually Boyega, known for the new Star Wars movies, teased Black Panther almost two years ago on Twitter.
“Marvel role? ….hehehe … I’m dam right aiming for it,” Boyega said. “Currently booking flight to wakanda.”
However, Boyega’s agent recently took to Twitter to shoot down any notion of John Boyega joining Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan on Black Panther.
“My client [John Boyega] will not be starring in Black Panther. Now for the news,” Boyega’s agent tweeted — following Kevin Feige having followed him on Twitter.
John Boyega is currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII.
Black Panther hits February 16, 2018 directed by Ryan Coogler.
John Boyega Says Star Wars: Episode VIII Is Darker & Bigger Than Force Awakens
Perhaps following in the footsteps of Empire Strikes Back, John Boyega says Star Wars: Episode VIII will be bigger and darker than its predessor.
Boyega appeared at the Cannes Film Festival where Variety caught up with the actor.
It’s very easy. Rian Johnson is great. It’s a different take, darker, bigger. Someone will say: “How do you get bigger than ‘Force Awakens?’” But it’s crazy.
Boyega wouldn’t say if his comments pertain to his character of Finn and jokingly responded with:
My skin color does because of the heat on the job! That’s me dodging your question because Disney has spies everywhere. If I answer this, I get killed, and I’m not in episode nine.
“Star Wars: Episode VIII” has a December 16, 2017 release directed by Rian Johnson starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.

Star Wars: Episode VIII Is Darker Says John Boyega
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23746:]]
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a knock off of New Hope, and now it seems Episode VIII will stick with the pattern – similar to Empire Strikes Back – as it’s learned the next new Star Wars film will be darker.
Vogue caught up with John Boyega, who plays Finn.
We should say “spoiler alert” before this question, but is it a relief to finally be able to talk more openly about Star Wars: The Force Awakens – you’ve had months of interviews where you’ve had to be very secretive? Did you even tell your friends and family what happens?
“Yes, at last! Han Solo dies, OK? He dies. Phew. It feels good. But now, we just starting work on Star Wars VIII, the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again.”
Your co-star Daisy Ridley has already praised how good the script is.
“It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”
Star Wars: Episode VIII has a May 26, 2017 release directed by Rian Johnson.
Star Wars: Episode VIII Films In London In A Few Weeks
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23476:]]
Here we go again!
Though Mark Hamill shot a few scenes for Star Wars: Episode VIII, now John Boyega offers filming on the sequel to The Force Awakens kicks off in a few weeks in London.
The UK’s Sky News reports John Boyega made a surprise appearance at a screening of The Force Awakens in Brixton and told fans he is “so happy” to work on the next movie.
“So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for coming out and supporting this movie. The movie is yours now and I really hope you enjoyed it and we are so happy to be starting on Episode Eight in a few weeks in London and it is going to be fun,” Boyega told the audience. “May the force be with you always.”
Star Wars: Episode VIII has a May 26, 2017 release directed by Rian Johnson. Greg Grunberg, JJ Abrams long time friend since kindergarten and who plays Snap Wexley, recently let it be known that Abrams had read the Episode VIII script and said it was so good that he regretted not coming back to direct it.
As of yet, there is no official title for Episode VIII; however, if the movie keeps in line with “The Force Awakens” homaging “A New Hope,” the title may play off “Empire Strikes Back.” Any ideas?

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
Mark Hamill To Host EPSN Star Wars Documentary
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23192:]]
While we have yet to see Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the actor can be seen hosting a Star Wars documentary on ESPN.
Examining the sport and athleticism behind the choreography and training utilized in the making of Star Wars lightsaber duels, Star Wars: Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel, hosted by Mark Hamill, will air Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The documentary will precede the Friday, Dec. 18, launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in U.S. theaters.
Check out the trailer below.
“Lightsaber duels from the Star Wars films are some of cinema’s most recognized battles and an iconic part of the most popular movie franchise of all time,” said Craig Lazarus, ESPN vice president, SportsCenter & News, Storytelling Units.
“We will take viewers on a unique journey that examines the connection of these duels to sports and their evolution, from the original trilogy through the prequels, and now to Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” said Lazarus. “Viewers will see the transition from fencing and samurai swordplay in the original films to an increased focus on martial arts and the sport of kendo.”
For the documentary, ESPN traveled to the 2015 Kendo World Championships in Japan to gather interviews and information to explain the genesis of kendo and how it applies to Star Wars lightsaber duels.
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23193:]]
Hamill, who reprises his role of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, lived in Japan for his last two years of high school and is very familiar with kendo.
“I really feel that kendo has informed so much of what we have done in the films it is about time that it gets some long-overdue recognition,” Hamill said.
What people don’t realize is how much goes into what appears to be just minutes on the screen,” Hamill said. “The elaborate choreography for the actual fight is done on several different sets over a period of weeks and then it is edited down to what you see on the screens, so I am happy people are able to see the amount of work that goes into it.”
The program also will include behind-the-scenes video of actor John Boyega, who plays Finn in the new film, as he trains for a lightsaber battle scene. Boyega is interviewed for the program as is his kendo trainer, Paul Vincent.
SC Featured also traveled to England to interview actor Ian McDiarmid, who portrayed Emperor Palpatine in previous Star Wars films and Nick Gillard, kendo expert and former Star Wars stunt man and choreographer.
New interviews with film director/producer J.J. Abrams and Jonathan W. Rinzler, Lucasfilm historian, are also part of the documentary along with rare, behind-the-scenes footage from the Lucasfilm archive.
On Oct. 19, the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted during halftime of ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles, with tickets for the movie going on sale immediately afterward.

Rey (Daisy Ridley): We discover Rey on the desert planet Jaku. She is a scavenger, like in a ship graveyard. She is self-sufficient and does everything her self and very solitary until she meets another character and an adventure begins.
Finn (John Boyega): So we find Finn. He is in incredible danger, and the way he decides to react to this danger changes his life, #1, and launches him into the Star Wars universe in a very unique way. So I can’t wait for you guys to see it (Boyega also confirms the character is a stormtrooper).
Po Dameron (Oscar Isaac): He’s the best frickin‘ guy in the galaxy. That’s who he is. He’s been sent on a mission by a certain princess and he ends up coming across Mr. John Boyega’s character, and their fates are forever intertwined.

@LAKingsDru Good question, the answer to which is all of the above, especially emotionally if you’re a fan. Be brave.

It’s all about John Boyega. So you’d better leave your prejudices at the door. He’s the character everyone will be talking about.

@JaySway52 Yes and no, his arc is different, his character is from a totally different perspective to Luke’s in A New Hope tbh.
— G@BRIELGR@Y (@GBRIELGRY) January 21, 2015
@antbwan The Force Awakens refers to more than one character.
— G@BRIELGR@Y (@GBRIELGRY) January 21, 2015
@antbwan Of course, it’s #Starwars, and these are main cannon. The Skywalker’s will put on one hell of a show in December. Mark my words.
