Flash Easter Egg Hints At Green Lantern, Nightwing, Starman & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22583:]]

Check out an Easter Egg spotted on the set of The Flash which features various cities time zones.

We see mention of Bludhaven, a home to Nightwing; Midway City, a home to Hawkman and Hawkgirl – both of whom will be appearing in DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow; Starling City, home to Arrow’s Oliver Queen; Central City, home to The Flash; Coast City, home to Green Lantern (which has been teased before), and we also see Opal city, the home of Starman.

It’s interesting to note that the two most wel-known cities in the DC univers are not listed with Gotham City (Batman) and Metropolis (Superman), which are most likely off limits to The Flash and Arrow, but that may change if the CBS Supergirl TV series ever connects with them.

Important times to know on display at Picture News on the set of #TheFlash.

DC Announces New Green Lantern Corps, Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman & More For January

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22472:]]

DC Comics announces new titles and creative changes for January 2016.

A new Swamp Thing series will debut written by legendary co-creator Len Wein, with art by comics icon Kelley Jones. In this ongoing series, Swamp Thing receives an ominous warning and finds himself under attack from the forces of dark magic. These are more than just your average monsters, however! And if that’s not enough, there’s something much worse looming on the horizon for Alec Holland!

Poison Ivy: Cycke Of Lfe and Death is also announced for January which will be written by Amy Chu with art by Clay Mann. In this six-issue miniseries, Dr. Pamela Isley joins the prestigious plant sciences department at Gotham Botanical Gardens. But when a fellow scientist is murdered and it looks like the work of Poison Ivy, what happens next?

Wonder Woman gets a new Digital First series with Wonder Woman! The Legend Of Wonder Woman, a nine-issue digital series written and illustrated by Renae De Liz, with inker/colorist Ray Dillon. In the beginning there was only chaos. But Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, sees a better future – and eventually her daughter is destined to bring that new world to life. But before her ultimate destiny is revealed, Diana of Themyscira must learn the important lessons of an Amazonian childhood!

Tom Taylor will also be filling in on January’s Batman/Superman #28 with guest artist Robson Rocha. This new three-part epic is an untold tale from Bruce and Clark’s early crime-fighting careers, as Batman and Superman are pitted against a menace that will not only test their partnership, but their friendship as well!

Tom Taylor also gets his chance to go cosmic with Green Lantern Corps: Edge Of Oblivion featuring art by fan-favorite Ethan Van Sciver. The series picks up where Green Lantern: Lost Army left off, with a John Stewart-led GL Corps still seeking a way home, but with the universe around them on the verge of total collapse! Along the way they’ll face dying gods, worlds torn asunder and a desperate group of survivors whose only hope is this band of ring-bearing cosmic heroes.

Ryan Reynolds Talks Deadpool, Fantastic Four & Green Lantern

Deadpool Trailer

Over at GQ, Ryan Reynolds spoke about the upcoming Deadpool movie as well as Green Lantern and the recent Fantastic Four film.

Following the disappoinment of Green Lantern, Reynolds remarks whether he was relucatant about returning to do another superhero movie:

“A little bit. But Deadpool was different because there wasn’t a big budget attached to it. There was not a tremendous responsibility to meet some kind of bottom line. Those kinds of superhero movies when you’re out front, there’s a vast and quite frightening budget attached to them. This one had a super-reasonable budget, and it was subversive and a little bit different, and to me a little refreshing in the comic-book world. But you always have trepidation. When you’re out front, you have trepidation.”

Regarding Green Lantern, Reynolds comments if he would do it all over again knowing what he knows now:

“I mean, I don’t give a rusty fuck, because—I know that this is gonna sound like some sort of guy who’s spent a little bit of time in a monastery or something, but it all led to here. If I had to do it all again, I’d do the exact same thing. You know, also,Green Lantern—you gotta remember, at the time, everyone was gunning for that role. The guys I was screen-testing against are amazing talents. [Reynolds reportedly beat out Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake, and Jared Leto for the role.] But would I change it? No! And if it was as big a success, then it might have offered a whole different avenue of opportunities, or maybe I would just be kind of always that guy. I really don’t know.

“Yeah, for sure. I think I would be probably in prep for Green Lantern 3 right now. That sounds about right.”

There have also been recent statements regarding the future of super hero movies in that they are a fad, which will go the way of the Westerns, with both Steven Spielberg and Batman Vs. Superman director Zack Snyder weighing in on the topic. Reynolds offered his own thoughts:

“It’s a genre. There are good horror movies and bad horror movies. There are good comedies and bad comedies. Think of it like that. Think of it less about just superheroes. I do believe that they explore similar archetypes a lot, so I think that notion can be somewhat fatiguing, maybe. I think one of the reasons that Deadpoolhas gained a lot of momentum isn’t just that it’s funny or isn’t just that it’s rated R. The meta aspect is very important. So I think Deadpool’s coming along at the right time, because it’s also speaking to that generation and that group of people that have seen them all, seen all these comic-book films and enjoyed them all to varying degrees of success. But I think it’s speaking to them as though the guy in that red suit is one of them, to some degree.”

As Green Lantern and some other movies Reynolds has been involved with are considered flops, Reynolds comments on the recent failure of Fantastic Four offering:

“But I’m more frustrated about the Michael B. Jordan aspect than Miles Teller. You know, Miles Teller’s gonna recover. Miles Teller’s gonna go on to do amazing things, you know. It’s important that Michael B. Jordan continues to go on and do amazing things.

“I know it’s not easy for a black actor. It’s not easy for a female actor. It’s not easy for a lot of people that are… That entire cast is amazingly talented. And I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. I mean, I know what that feels like. It doesn’t feel good. And it also is difficult, because you don’t feel like you can control that outcome. You know, as much as you want to. You can’t really.”

“Deadpool” has a February 12, 2016 release directed by Tim Miller starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax.

Green Lantern Teased For Arrow Season 4 Premiere

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21908:]]

Update: A new Arrow trailer reveals a ring, but not the ring we were all hoping for.

Pardon the pun, but has Arrow gotten the green light to use Green Lantern after all?

It was insinuated Green Lantern was out of the picture for Arrow due to the recently announced Green Lantern Corps movie; however, for the second time in about a week, Green Lantern is teased.

In a recent interview with EW.com, it’s noted Oliver is facing a new criminal organization in Arrow Season 4 with the Shadowspire which is led by Baro Reiter that will see Ollie coming up against in the hometown of Green Lantern with Coast City. EP Marc Guggenheim teases the previously seen billboard (below) and adds we just may see a certain ring.

“There is a nod or two,” Guggenheim teased. “There is a billboard that people will get a kick out of, and there may or may not be a ring in the season premiere.”

“Arrow” Season 4 premiers Wednesday, October 7th on the CW.

Watch: Green Lantern Corps Trailer With Idris Elba & Garrett Hedlund (Fan-Made)

The Alex Luthor YouTube channel is back with another cool video as this time a Green Lanter Corps trailer is presented featuring Idris Elba and Garret Hedlud.

The trailer uses footage from Green Lantern, TRON: Legacy, Pacific Rim, John Carter and more, and looks pretty good.

We still have a while to wait for Green Lantern Corps, as the movie is set to be released in 2020, but perhaps we won’t have to wait that long as it’s possible a Green Lantern may be featured in the Justice League movie, which hits in 2017.

About a year ago saw Idris Elba comment on Green Lantern John Stewart fan art of himself stating he loves the idea.

Idris Elba is currently filming Star Trek Beyond; Garret Hedlund is featured in Pan with Hugh Jackman and was set to reprise for the third Tron movie, but Disney recently abruptly cancelled the project.

More Green Lantern Teased For Arrow Season 4

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21908:]]

Despite reports stating Green Lantern is not allowed for Arrow because of the recently announced Green Lantern Corps movie, Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has just teased the character in a big way.

Marc Guggenheim took to his Ow.ly account to post an image of a Coast City billboard that reads:

In brightest day
In blackest night
Come to Coast City
When money’s tight

Fans of Green Lantern will obviously recognize the reference to the Green Lantern oath.

There have been many references to Coast City and Green Lantern throughout the Arrow and The Flash Universe, with the biggest tease coming with mention of a missing pilot, another obvious nod to Hal Jordan.

Stephen Amell also recently stated it would be cool to have Green Latern as well.

Regarding WB not allowing Green Lantern for Arrow or The Flash, Guggenheim recently stated: “They announced the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t include Hal Jordan. It would be great but I doubt it very much.”

I suppose we can note Guggenheim didn’t specifically state that they couldn’t use Hal Jordan, just that he doubted it, so at least that does leave the possibility open that WB will let Green Lantern appear on Arrow and/or The Flash in some capacity.

Nathan Fillion Wants To Play Booster Gold, Ambush Bug or Greatest American Hero

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21813:]]

Nathan Fillion, a one time fan-favorite choice to play Star-Lord for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, lets it be known he would be interested in playing Booster Gold for DC.

Fillion did cameo in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and is known for voicing Green Lantern in the DC animated universes.

A fan at Wizard World Chicago asked Fillion if he could play any character in either DC or Marvel, who would it be?

“I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold,” Fillion told the crowd, who were in attendance for a Firefly panel. “That’s kind of my niche – show-offy, vain. I think I could handle that – not too bright. I think Ambush Bug; little bit off his rocker. You never see my face. But I think Greatest American Hero is do for a reboot.”

Fillion then questioned Summer Glau about what she knows about super heroes, with Glau responding, “I like She-Ra.”

Fillion replied, “You are totally a princess of power.”

Adam Baldwin chimed in stating maybe he could play Green Lantern, with Fillion shaking his head no.

“I don’t know,” Baldwin smiled, and they all laughed with Fillion stating Green Lantern has already been taken.

Regarding Booster Gold, a while back there was talk about a SyFy series in development, but really nothing has been mentioned in a couple years.

Interestingly enough, a Greatest American Hero remake is underway.

You can watch the video below for more from Nathan Fillion talking super heroes.

Actors Tease Green Lantern For DCCU

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21595:]]

Do we have confirmation of a Green Lantern for the DC Cinematic Universe?

An actor tweeted out what looks to be confirmation that he has been cast in the DCCU.

Ricardo Segarra posted that he will be seeing the DC Cinematic Universe soon, and then tweeted out the Green Lantern oath with “in brightest day.” Searra also include the hashtags for Batman vs. Superman and Justice League.

Segarra was questioned about it on Twitter, replying to a fan: “I can not confirm or deny. But who wouldn’t want to be a Green Lantern?”

Ricardo Segarra’s iMDB page only lists a few movies that the actor has been a part of, but his resume does list that he has pro-wrestling and weight training experience.

In the DC Comics, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner is of Latino descent as his father was a Chicano CIA agent.

Is Ricardo Segarra playing Green Lantern Kyle Rayner for the planned Green Lantern Corps movie in 2020?

Update: Lance Gross (Grey’s Anatomy, Crisis) may be teasing Green Lantern John Stewart as well, as the actor posted an image of the Green Lantern symbol on Instagram adding: “In brightest day.”

Update #2: Ricardo Segarra deleted the “In brightest day…” tweet, and also tweeted about Shazam.

Tyrese Confirms Talks For Green Lantern Corps (Video)

Tyrese Gibson has been teasing Green Lantern on Instagram with fan art as well as stating he has taken the oath.

Collider caught up with the actor where Tyrese confirms there have been talks with Warner Bros. about the newly announced Green Lantern Corps movie.

Here’s the text:

Well I was innocent from the beginning. I was at home eating a bowl of Lucky Charms in my drawers, my ugly feet was out, and I got about six direct messages on Instagram with photos of me as the Green Lantern. This particular fan who did this fan art said that there was a community of people that had been talking for like a month and a half about who they think would be the best Green Lantern, and they all picked me. I said to them, ‘I took the oath, and I am going to commit myself to this process of seeing what’s possible.

I’ve already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we’ll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that’s not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern, and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there’s a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can’t. We’ll just keep following up.

No Green Lantern For Arrow Due To GLC Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15832:]]

Similar to the use of the Suicide Squad, now it appears Green Lantern will not be allowed in the CW Flash and Arrow universe.

Both The Flash and Arrow have contained numerous references to Green Lantern, which also saw mention of a “missing pilot,” an obvious nod to Hal Jordan.

Stephen Amell also recently teased Green Lantern when he mentioned Coast City, and Amell previously said it would be cool to have Green Lantern and hopefully it will happen.

However, Green Lantern doesn’t appear to be happening for Arrow due to the recenly announced Green Lantern Corps movie.

THR caught up with Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim who offered: “They announced the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t include Hal Jordan. It would be great but I doubt it very much.”

It seems the execs at Warner Bros. are not allowing the movie characters to appear on the small screen (save for The Flash) as it’s known Deadshot in Arrow is off the table as well, and Blue Beetle was originally intended to be Brandon Routh’s character, but WB said there are plans for Blue Beetle so suggested Atom.

Green Lantern Reboot Titled Green Lantern Corps

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21336:]]

Update: Concept art and leaked footage has hit the net.

WB revealed at Comic-Con that the title of the new Green Lantern movie will be “Green Lantern Corps.”

At their big Hall H presentation earlier today in Hall H, Warner Bros. played a video on the big screens surrounding the audience that featured their upcoming slate of movies with Green Lantern Corps among them.

The video also featured various concept art and logos for the films which included:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Suicide Squad

• Wonder Woman

Justice League 1 & 2

• The Flash

Aquaman

Cyborg

• Green Lantern Corps

Previous rumors mentioned that WB was looking at using multiple Green Lanterns for the reboot, which this reveal looks to have confirmed.

The Green Lantern Corps movie has a 2020 release date, but most likely we’ll get a first look at the GLC in the Justice League movie (it would be pretty awesome if the GLC was involved in some sort of war which would explain their absence during Man of Steel).

It’s speculated that the new Green Lantern(s) may be announced at the Batman Vs. Superman Comic-Con panel.

Green Lantern Reboot Rumored To Focus On Hal Jordan, Jon Stewart & Guy Gardner

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21145:]]

Green Lantern is getting rebooted for the new WB Justice League cinematic universe, and now new rumors have hit the net.

According to Collider, the Green Lantern reboot may focus on the human Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Guy Gardner.

It’s said all three characters may be the lead in the WB Green Lantern reboot.

It’s also reported that the new Green Lantern movie franchise will never focus solely on one GL, but will continue to focus on different Green Lanterns.

So essentially, the rumor is stating the new Green Lantern reboot will first focus on the human Green Lantern members before introducing and focusing on the rest of the Green Lantern Corps.

The report also mentions the new Green Lanterns may be introduced at the WB Batman Vs. Superman Comic-Con panel next month, with it possible that the new GLs will then be in the Justice League Part 1 movie.

The rumor sounds like it does have some merit, and with the Green Lantern movie not due out until 2020, it’s more than probable we’ll see a Green Lantern (or two) prior to then.

It also probably should be noted that in addition to the three human Green Lanterns mentioned above, the comics features two more with Kyle Rayner and Simon Baz.

No Mark Strong For Green Lantern Reboot (Video)

Probably the best part of the Green Lantern movie was Mark Strong’s portrayal of Sinestro as well as the post-credit tease.

With Zack Snyder and WB relaunching Green Lantern, MTV caught up with Mark Strong and asked if there is a chance he may return.

Strong says with a reboot happening, he is sure they are going to go with a whole new look and different group of actors.

As of now, the new Green Lanten movie is still a ways off as it’s due to be released in 2020.

It’s also specualted we’ll see the new Green Lantern in the 2017 Justice League movie, but regarding just which GL will be featured is currently unknown as it could be Hal Jordan, John Stewart or even Kyle Rayner.

The only rumor surrounding Green Lantern was mention that Chris Pine might be up for the role; however, that rumor seems to be squashed as it’s recently been said Pine is up to play Steve Trevor in the Wonder Woman movie.

Chris Pine Up For Steve Trevor In Wonder Woman Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20768:]]

It’s reported Star Trek actor Chris Pine is in talks to play Steve Trevor for the Gal Gadot Wonder Woman movie.

Variety reports the news with mention Pine would play the love interest to Gadot’s Wonder Woman in an origin story.

According to the report, WB tested other actors but later decided to look at more high-profile names and go with a straight offer. It’s said Chris Pine won over production executives as well as Gal Gadot at his meeting, leading the studio to pursue him for the role.

Regarding the thought that Scott Eastwood was playing Steve Trevor, the report mentions Eastwood was given a choice to test for the Steve Trevor role or sign on for a supporting part in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie, which he decided to take.

Wonder Woman has a 2017 release, with Gal Gadot first set to appear in Batman Vs. Superman in 2016.

Chris Pine was also said to be up for the role of the new Green Lantern at one time.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Getting Rebooted

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20749:]]

It’s learned Fox is rebooting The League Of Extraordinary Gentleman, which is based on the Alan Moore comic book and saw a movie starring Sean Connery back in 2003.

Variety reboots The League Of Extraordinary Gentleman movie reboot will see John Davis (The Blacklist, Chronicle, I, Robot) on board to produce through his Davis Entertainment banner.

Ira Napoliello (Mr. Popper’s Penguins) and Matt Reilly are stated to be overseeing the remake, which centers on Victorian-era literary characters such as Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde who team up to fight a common enemy.

At one time a League Of Extraordinary Gentleman TV series was in development from Green Lantern writer Michael Green, but the show never made it to series.

The 2003 film starred Sean Connery as Allan Quatermain; however, it failed to make its mark with audiences as it only netted barely $180 million worldwide.

Here is the description of the Alan Moore Omnibus available through Amazon at a discount:

At last, the original two LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN epics are collected in a single volume!

In this amazingly imaginative tale, Allan Quatermain, Mina Murray, Captain Nemo, Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, and Hawley Griffin, the Invisible Man unite to defeat a deadly menace to London and all Britons!

Then, one month later, the skies over England are filled with flaming rockets as Mars launches the first salvo of an invasion. Only our stalwart adventurers can save mother England and the Earth itself.

Watch: Stephen Amell Teases Green Lantern For Arrow Season 4 & More

Following up on The Flash Easter egg which references Hal Jordan, now Stephen Amell teases Green Lantern for Arrow Season 4.

TV Line caught up with Amell in the above video and asked the actor what’s in store for Arrow Season 4.

Spoilers follow if you haven’t seen the Arrow Season 3 finale.

Amell offers he won’t be Arrow anymore.

“Roy sacrificed himself. He outed himself as the Arrow,” Amell said. “So if I were to recreate the suit and go out, it would undo all the sacrifice that he made. So the Arrow persona, for better for worse, it can’t exist anymore.”

It’s then remarked it might be a matter of just putting the word “green” in front of it one day, with Amell replying, “I mean would that do it? We’ll see.”

It’s also remarked it couldn’t have been a coincidence that Damien Darhk was in Starling City, and that it’s safe to say the name will be heard again. Amell agreed: “Safe to say we will hear that name again.”

Amell continued with more teasers with mention of Green Lantern’s hometown of Coast City.

“H.I.V.E. Damien Darhk. Um. Coast City. All that good stuff.”

Coast City has been mentioned numerous times in both Arrow and The Flash, but the last episode of The Flash was the first time Hal Jordan was referenced with mention of a missing Ferris Air pilot.

Cosmic Book News was told by a DC insider plans are underway for Green Lantern to be a part of the Arrow and Flash universe.

Update: Showrunner Marc Guggenheim says Arrow Season 4 will be lighter in tone.
