Team Cap Comments On Captain America: Civil War

In addition to the Team Cap posters and 22 high-res images, check out what Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen and Sebastian Stan had to say about Captain America: Civil War below.

Update: Team Iron Man comments on Civil War.

Chris Evans:

“I love when he gets to have conflic. There’s a lot of struggle for him to try and keep whatever sense of family he has.”

“It’s boring when a good guy knows how to be a good guy. It’s much more dynamic when a good guy isn’t sure what the good guy move is and has to debate another point of view from someone who may be very close to him.”

Anthony Mackie:

“He respects and admires Cap because Cap earned his rank as opposed to sitting in an office and just delegating orders.”

Jeremy Renner:

“Cap was the first guy who called. Let’s just get the job done so I can get home to the family.”

Elizabeth Olsen:

She’s “figuring out her place and finding a family,” says Olsen, but “she does have a few changes of points of view in this film.”

Sebastian Stan:

“Cap is his only shot at survival,” Stan says, adding that Bucky’s new teammates aren’t completely sold on him. “It’s not like everyone’s high-fiving before going to war. There are still tensions.”

John Krasinski Wants A Marvel Villain Role

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24044:]]

While speaking with Digital Spy, John Krasinski confirms he was up for the role of Captain America at one time (also said to have been up for Star-Lord) and mentions he wouldn’t mind playing a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Yeah, I’ll take a Marvel movie anytime! I love watching them, so I’d love to be a part of it. The Captain America thing was hilarious. As much as I had fun doing it… I definitely got to wear the suit. I screen-tested and all those things, and I signed my life away that I wouldn’t even talk about it, so they’re going to kill me now. Thanks. But as soon as I heard that Chris [Evans] was considering it, I applauded. Chris is a good friend, and very very good at what he does, and so I was so happy to see him do it. Maybe now I have to play a villain where I fight Chris. That’s what we need to do.”

Any ideas which villain Krasinski could play? How about Red Guardian?

John Krasinksi stars in “13 Hours,” in theaters now.

Chris Evans’ Is Battered and Bruised For Captain America: Civil War Reshoots

Captain America: Civil War Trailer

Check out pics from the Captain America: Civil War reshoots featuring a battered and bruised Chris Evans.

The Daily Mail points out Chris Evans was spotted “sporting a sizeable bruise on his left cheek with a matching fat lip on the right topping, it all off with a rather forlorn expression.”

It’s unknown what happened to give Evans the injuries, but the actor was obviously involved in some sort scene that involved a fight (it’s also possible the injuries could be make-up). Who knows, maybe they were re-filming that awesome scene from the trailer (watch below) featuring Cap and Bucky vs. Iron Man.

Black Panther Chadwick Boseman was also spotted on set, but didn’t have any injuries.

Update: It’s a different Chris Evans. Our apologies.

Who knew Captain America had such a weak stomach?!

Check out pics of Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the upcoming Civil War movie for Marvel, hunched over at the side of the speedway after suffering from a bout of motion sickness while being a passenger in an Audi R8 V10 for the UK’s Top Gear.

The problems don’t end there as Car Throttle reports the return of the show has seen its share of issues ranging from audio problem to reports of “meddling management,” and a production team that knows nothing about cars.

Top Gear was recently revamped following the departure of popular host Jeremy Clarkson.

According to reports, professional race car driver Sabine Schmitz had to pull over at the Monterey, California race track to give Evans some time recuperate.

Chris Evans Wants Captain America To Interact With Wolverine

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23739:]]

Back last Summer saw a rumor hit that an Avengers and X-Men movie is being planned for 2020.

While the validity of the rumor must be questioned due to the properties being owned by different studios, we now hear from Chris Evans who mentions Wolverine.

At this weekend’s Wizard World New Orleans comic-con, the members of the Captain America: Civil War panel were asked, with all the new characters coming up, who would they like to interact with from the Marvel Universe?

Chris Evans responded with Wolverine.

“I would say Wolverine. I don’t know if that would ever happen, but in the Marvel world, wouldn’t that be fun?” Evans said. “Wouldn’t that be a great little blend, a crossover. Because we don’t have enough crossovers, but still. That would be great.”

Evans also previously offered earlier in the panel that he would like another Fox-owned character by his side — The Human Torch.

The other panelists responded to the question as well:

Mackie: I would say She-Thor. Nothing weird. Nothing weird.

Atwell: Black Widow, for me. For sure.

Grillo: Spider-Man. I love Spider-Man.

Joe Russo: You haven’t interacted with Spider-Man?

Grillo: I have interacted with Spider-Man, but it’s none of your business. [laughter]

Renner: Oh, Mockingbird. That’s pretty good.

Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Chris Evans Wants The Human Torch On His Side In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23737:]]

Flame on!

At the recent Wizard World New Orleans comic-con panel for Captain America: Civil War, Chris Evans was asked by a fan if he could pick any Marvel character to be on his side and have his back, who would it be?

Evans’ answer? Of course, the Human Torch!

“I would take Johnny Storm,” Evans said. “I would take… I just like the guy. I just like the guy. I think he’s fun. It would be fun to fight with him. I think he would be cracking jokes and having a good time. I just want to hang out with him, really.”

Joe Russo then interjected, “Frank [Grillo] just looked at Mackie and said, ‘Who the hell is Johnny Storm?'”

Evans responded, “The Human Torch,” with Mackie heard in the background laughing.

As we all know, prior to playing Captain America, Chris Evans played The Human Torch in the two Fantastic Four movies.

You can watch the mention of the Human Torch by Evans around the 34:00 mark below.

Update: Evans also mentions Wolverine.

Chris Evans Says No One Is Right Or Wrong In Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War — whose side are you on?

Well, regardless if you pick Captain America or Iron Man, you may still be right.

In a recent interview with Cineplex.com, Evans offers some thoughts on the motivations present in the movie.

“You have this team of people who are destroying every city they go to, but they’re saving the world. So it’s a matter of, do we monitor these people or do we let them monitor themselves? The beautiful thing with Civil War is that no one’s right and no one’s wrong; it’s just your personal opinion.

We’re going to have a nice evolution where you have a guy like Cap, who grew up with structure — he was a soldier and he liked hierarchy, he liked the chain of command. Now, all of a sudden, you have a guy who used to love the system not so sure about trusting it. And a guy like Tony Stark, who used to buck the system and dance to the beat of his own drum all of a sudden thinking, maybe we need some order.”

Watch: Russo Bros. Asked If Captain America & Winter Soldier Are Gay By The Chinese; Talk Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23422:]]

Check out video below with the Russo Bros. taking part in an interview in China for Captain America: Civil War, where apparently the Chinese audience thinks Captain America and The Winter Soldier happen to be homosexual. The brothers are asked if the homosexual nature will continue in Captain America 3 and The Avengers 3.

On the relationship between Captain America and Winter Soldier (being homosexual?):

“People can interpret the relationship however they want to interpret it. For us, we’ve always interpreted the relationship as two brothers. They’re very close characters, they have a relationship with each other that is very deep. The bonds between the characters are very strong. That’s what motivates the storytelling. These are both characters that came from nothing. Captain America was basically an orphan, and Bucky’s family took him in… When he was sleep for several years, he lost everything that was dear to him. And when he took the serum and became Captain America, he gave away a large part of himself for a patriotic cause. So, you have a character who is searching for the only thing that he has left from his past… and that’s Bucky. And people have interpreted that relationship all kinds of ways, and it’s great to see people argue about it what that relationship means to them. We will never define it as filmmakers, explicitly, but however people want to interpret it.”

On Spider-Man:

“This is a completely new version of Spider-Man that’s introduced in Civil War. He’s played by an actor named Tom Holland. He’s a very talented actor. It was very important to us that we wanted to go young with the character because what we love about Spider-Man is that he’s still a high school student. That’s a part of his vulnerability, and it’s what makes him special in the Marvel Universe; he’s very unique. We wanted to play to that aspect of the character. We tried to think about ‘Who is Spider-Man today?’ A lot of times when you get interpretations of Spider-Man, they’re very nostalgic to the origins of the character. Sometimes there’s an old-fashioned patina to the tone of who Spider-Man is. We wanted to think about who is Spider-Man today — if he lived in Queens today, if he went there, what’s the texture of his life like, what’s the texture of his relationship with his aunt like, who he lives with. How can we make the relationship and character very contemporary? That was our goal with the character, while also making him very young and true to his highschool nature. I think that’s the fresh part of what we are doing with Spider-Man on a character level.”

On potential big things happening to major characters in Captain America 3 and Avengers 3:

“The stakes of both Civil War and the Avengers: Infinity War movies are gonna be very high, and there will be a price to pay… And that’s the whole point of cumulative storytelling. We’re going to go on emotional journeys with these characters. We’ve got a lot invested in them emotionally. We have responsibilities to be mindful of how these people feel about the characters and, at the same time, we also have a responsibility to carry through on the storytelling. As filmmakers, we believe in stakes. You can’t have good storytelling without strong stakes. So, there will be a price to pay. There will be a price to pay in Civil War. There will be characters who suffer in that movie and who come out and won’t be the same again — emotionally or physically. In Infinity Warthe stakes will be raised to a whole new level.  People should expect to be shocked when they see these movies.”

On Captain America’s new costume in Civil War:

“It is a new costume. We were trying to pull forward the work that we had done in Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Cap. So, the innovations that we made to his costume in that film are very much the tonal texture that we are pulling forward into this movie. Civil War is very much connected and rooted in The Winter Soldier. So, as far as the specifics of the costume, we don’t want to give too much away, but it is a new costume slightly different from what you’ve seen before. And it’s grounded in that Winter Soldier tone and style.”

On Captain America and Black Widow:

“It was very important to us in Captain America: Winter Soldier, that relationship be platonic. That was what we thought was interesting about it. They do care very deeply for each other, but not a romantic relationship, which is the expected relationship. We wanted to play against that, but they do care very deeply for each other. I think, as much as any two characters in Avengers do. And I think you’ll see that again in Civil War. His relationship with Natasha is pivotal to the movie. I think two of the most endearing scenes in the film are between Steve and Natasha. And of course, that relationship will carry forward into Infinity War. That’s our interpretation of their relationship is that this is like a brother and sister who are work-husband and work-wife. They have a real respect for each other, but they’re very different; they admire the differences in each other, and they find a commonality in those differences.”

Chadwick Boseman Talks Black Panther Vs. Captain America In Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23296:]]

By now we all know that Chadwick Boseman will be suited up in Captain America: Civil War as Black Panther as the trailer (watch below) seemingly revealed T’Challa on the side of Iron Man battling Captain America.

Boseman recently spoke about potentially taking on Captain America in Civil War while appearing on Sirius XM.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t know. [laughs] That’s a great question right there. Hypothetically are you asking me do we fight in the movie? Is that what you’re asking? Well I mean, if you’re talking to [Floyd] Mayweather or [Manny] Pacquiao before the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, then Mayweather’s gonna say he’s gonna win. If you’re talking to Canelo [Alvarez] before the Canelo/[Miguel] Cotto fight, Canelo’s gonna say he’s gonna win.”

The interview also saw Boseman tease that Black Panther is involved in negotiating the superhero accords in the film that lead to Civil War as there needs to be “some sort of control over these super powers,” comparing them to nuclear weapons. Boseman also noted that Black Panther will be torn between tradition and the “new world,” as well as feeling the need to live up to his father’s legacy and the legacy of Wakanda.

Boseman also compared his Black Panther to James Bond, stating Panther has some “James Bond-esque charm,” and said Panther is not like Thor – who is spoiled and another member of Marvel’s royalty – and added Black Panther isn’t trying to get along with anyone.

Chadwick Boseman will follow Captain America: Civil War with the standalone Black Panther movie in 2018.

Tom Holland Says They Tried To Make Miles Morales Spider-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23199:]]

In a recent interview while promoting his latest film, In The Heart of the Sea (which stars Chris Hemsworth), Tom Holland talks about auditioning and getting cast for Spider-Man.

Interestingly enough, according to Holland, either Sony or Marvel (or the Marvel Creative Committee that Feige canned) was attempting to make Miles Morales as Spider-Man. Holland filled the Daily Beast in on the info:

“I know they’re trying to make Miles Morales, but let me try and send a self-tape.” The agent replied, “Actually, they’ve requested you to send a self-tape.”

Holland goes on to tell the story of how he worked on self-tapes with both Joel Kinnaman and Jon Bernthal (who was recently cast as the Punisher in Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series).

“I went on to my next movie, Pilgrimage, and by that point I’d done two self-tapes, and they asked me to do another self-tape,” he says. “So I did a second set of sides and this time I had Jon Bernthal helping me out, which was great. I had to do those sides twice and my agents kept telling me, ‘This is the one!’ And then they’d ring me saying I have to do another one. I ended up doing five self-tapes in total.”

Holland continues with mention he participated in two screen tests, one with Robert Downey Jr. and the other with Chris Evans.

“I went to Sarah Finn’s office and did a reading with her, and after that I got asked to screen-test,” says Holland. “I did two—one with RDJ, Robert Downey Jr., who was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a cooler guy. And the second test was with Chris Evans, and it was pretty awesome and kind of surreal for me.”

Holland also reiterates that the standalone Spider-Man film will be similar in tone to a John Hughes movie (Mr. Mom, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Home Alone, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and not like the Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

“It’s not The Dark Knight,” he says. “One of the special things about what we’re going to try and create is that you’re going to see the biggest independent film ever. It’s not going to be an epic thing; it’s going to be a film surrounded by these incredible things, but that follows this boy and his life. Peter Parker is a favorite of many because everyone can relate to him, and we’re going to try to make everyone relate to our Peter Parker. And John Hughes is a perfect example of what we’re going to try and do.”

Tom Holland is first set to appear in Captain America: Civil War in May followed by the standalone Sony Spider-Man movie in 2017.

Spider-Man Will Be Suited Up In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23102:]]

We’ve known Tom Holland has filmed scenes for Captain America: Civil War, and we even have an idea of what one of the scenes involves.

Now it’s confirmed that Tom Holland will suit up as Spider-Man – not just Peter Parker – in Captain America: Civil War.

EW.com revealed new Captain America: Civil War images with the information that when they attended a set visit, they saw an actor dressed as Spider-Man of which both Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. seemingly confirmed.

“Listen, if there was a cosplayer running around that set when you were there, I don’t know what to tell you,” Feige said.

Robert Downey Jr. added:  “[Don] Cheadle and I are just going, ‘Wow, dude, look at this.’ We’re now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the [canon]. But we’re also looking around like, ‘Who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man…?’ I mean it’s like wow, this thing is just crazy.”

However, Chris Evans was quick to note things could always change.

“You never know with Marvel,” Chris Evans said. “Sometimes they shoot things and then don’t use them.”

The articles continues specifically noting, “So, yes: Spider-Man is in Civil War,” which follows with director Joe Russo talking Tom Holland:

“We did two screen tests with the character. We were pretty vocal about who we wanted for the part,” Joe Russo offered about Holland. “He’s fantastic. Amazing. It’s like Christian Bale in Empire of the Sun. Rarely do you see a kid carry a movie like that. He’s also a dancer and a gymnast. He fits the part like you can’t believe. Another thing that we were really pushing for was to go young with the part. It’s the only way to differentiate it from what’s been done in the past. Get him as close as you can to the age that [the actor] is.”

Captain America: Civil War Trailer

EW.com revealed new images of Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther for Captain America: Civil War.

Check them out below.

“He’s definitely not the life of the party in this instance,” said Boseman. “I think this is something true of the comic book character and the movie. You never quite know where he stands. There’s always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat. Not to say there’s not charm and he can’t be a ladies’ man and all that. It’s more like if there is humor, it’s more like James Bond.”

Stan Lee Chooses A Side In Captain America: Civil War

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22250:]]

Stan Lee recently attended the Edmonton Comic Expo where he was asked which side is he on in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War Marvel movie. Stan’s answer shouldn’t come as a surprise:

Whatever side Captain America was on, because he’s the best, pure-hearted person in the whole world. By the way, he’s a great actor, too, the guy who plays Captain America does a beautiful job — Chris Evans. I say that because he likes me, and anyone who likes me is a great actor.

Stan Lee will also be a part of Civil War and has filmed a cameo.

“I just finished my cameo in the new Captain America movie the day before yesterday in Atlanta,” Lee said back in June. “They should stop calling them cameos and start calling them supporting roles.”

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Anthony Mackie Doesn’t Want Captain America Replaced

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22246:]]

Earlier saw Chris Evans weigh in on why Captain America comes to a disagreement with Iron Man, and now Anthony Mackie offers his thoughts on a potential new Captain America following Civil War.

As fans of the Marvel Comics storyline know, Steve Rogers was replaced by Bucky following Civil War. With Sebastian Stan playing Bucky in Civil War, it’s possible Chris Evans could share the same fate as his comic book counterpart. Marvel Comics also recently replaced Steve Rogers yet again, but this time with Falcon as the new Captain America. While attending the Salt Lake City Comic-Con, Anthony Mackie states he doesn’t want the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Cap replaced (via Salt Lake Tribune).

“I don’t think we need a new Cap. I don’t think Cap needs to change. I think [Sebastian Stan] would be a great Cap, but then we’re left without Bucky. I think I’d be a great Cap, but then we’re left without a Falcon.”

Likewise, Sebastian Stan offers this thoughts, which seems to be more of a tease about possibly playing Captain America.

“I’ll say this: They sure like to dangle a cheese in front of my nose a lot,” Stan said. In both movies, he’s picked up Cap’s shield in the middle of a battle, as a quick homage to Bucky’s tenure as Captain America in the comic books. “They’re like ‘Oh yeah, that’s where you pick up the shield,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. There it is again.'”

“But I don’t know. If I could say one thing, if anyone can have anything to do with it, to make it happen, is you [the fans].”
