Watch: Kevin Conroy Talks Batman: The Killing Joke

Kevin Conroy returns to voice the Dark Knight in the upcoming animated DC movie, Batman: The Killing Joke.

Check out video below of Conroy talking about how the movie expands upon the comic book story.

You can watch the trailer here.

Batman: The Killing Joke makes its premiere at Comic-Con next month.

“Batman: The Killing Joke” arrives August 2, 2016 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Blu-Ray Deluxe Edition, Blu-Ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD.

Synopsis:

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, Batman: The Killing Joke takes a journey into the dark psyche of the Clown Prince of Crime – from his humble beginnings as a struggling comedian to his fateful encounter with Batman that changes both of their lives forever. Years later, and now escaped from Arkham Asylum, The Joker devises a plan to prove that one bad day can make anyone as insane as he is – setting his sights on Commissioner Gordon. It’s up to the Dark Knight to put a stop to The Joker’s latest scheme and save one of Gotham City’s finest. Following a gripping prologue introducing Barbara Gordon’s heroic adventures alongside Batman as Batgirl, Batman: The Killing Joke stays true to the authentic tale that has held fans’ imaginations for nearly three decades – spotlighting the birth of a Super-Villain, the fortitude of a Super Hero and the punchline that will leave you speechless.

The celebrity-laden cast is led by Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League) and Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise) as they reprise their seminal roles as the voices of Batman/Bruce Wayne and The Joker, respectively. The cast also features Tara Strong (Teen Titans; Batman: Arkham games), as Barbara Gordon and Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, RoboCop) as Commissioner Gordon.

Batman: The Killing Joke is seen by many as the definitive Batman and Joker story. So perhaps it’s fitting that two of the most definitive actors to ever voice the roles are returning for its animated adaptation. In this DC All Access animation clip, we talk to Kevin Conroy about voicing Batman in the highly anticipated, R-rated film based on the acclaimed one-shot. How does he feel about bringing this particularly dark tale of the Dark Knight to life?

Batman Vs. Superman: Joker’s Wild Batman Comic-Con Exclusive Revealed

Next month’s Comic-Con will see the release of the Batman Vs. Superman: Joker’s Wild Batman figure from Jakks Pacific.

The Joker’s Wild Batman variant stands 19-inches tall and will cost $59.99.

Details:

Batman v Superman: Jokers Wild Batman – Convention Exclusive:

The Joker gets his revenge on Batman!
The Clown Prince of Crime “improves” your action figure with a bunch of crude symbols and drawings.
Exclusive limited edition The Jokers Wild Batman 19-Inch Big Figs(TM) Action Figure!
The grimy Gotham City walls on the box are painted and defaced too!
The Caped Crusader stands 19-inches tall.

Entertainment Earth Convention Exclusive! From Jakks Pacific’s Big Fig 20-inch scale collection – and available only at the Entertainment Earth booth #2343 at San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 – this limited edition Batman v Superman: The Jokers Wild Batman 19-Inch Big Figs(TM) Action Figure – Convention Exclusive is a mess. While Batman stands tall and has 7 points of articulation, the Joker got to him on the way from the factory. The Clown Prince of Crime tagged old pointy ears with his name and a bunch of crude symbols and drawings, showing that he’s got a great second career in designer toys if the whole super-villain thing doesn’t work out for him. This is what happens in Gotham City when you don’t lock up the spray paint at the art store!

The Joker’s work didn’t stop with Batman. The grimy Gotham City walls on the box are painted and defaced too, because the Joker doesn’t respect anyone or anything – not even your toys! You’re not going to stand for this, are you? Don’t let the Joker win. Pick up this awesome Batman figure today and show Mr. J that you’re not afraid of him, even if he did mess up your action figure before you had a chance to buy it.

The Dark Knight has many enemies in the bowels of Gotham City, but none is more deadly and more unhinged than the Joker, the diabolical Clown Prince of Crime. With an origin shrouded in mystery, this creative, conniving criminal always has a scheme up his sleeve to get the last laugh on the good citizens of Gotham. Considering his repulsion of the Caped Crusader, what if the Joker took it upon himself to design Batman’s iconic costume? That would certainly give the Caped Crusader a colorful new look that reflects Joker’s insane ideology! At 19-inches tall, this Entertainment Earth Exclusive is a great example of what the bad guys of Gotham City think of the Bat – which is to say, not much.

NOTE: This item will first be sold at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 at the Entertainment Earth Booth #2343. If supplies remain after the show, your order will be filled and shipped to you then, in August 2016.

Ben Affleck Updates Batman Solo Movie

Today coming out of the Justice League set reports sees Ben Affleck confirm he is directing the Batman solo movie and offers an update on its progress.

Affleck is working on the Batman script with Geoff Johns and says they are still getting it right (via Collider).

“I think they have a date for it. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. So that’s my—my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out.” [laughs]

Affleck continues with mention he wants the Batman script to be the best that it can before they actually go out and do it.

I have a script, we’re still working on it, and I’m not happy enough with it yet to actually go out there and make a Batman movie, for which I have the highest of standards, I would say. That’s something that would have to pass a very high bar for me. It’s not just like, ‘Yeah, that might be fun, let’s go try this out.’”

Earlier saw Ben Affleck confirm an appearance at next month’s Comic-Con, so perhaps we’ll get an announcement about the Batman movie there with the possible release date.

WB also showed off new logos for Batman (picture above) and the DC movies at the Licensing Expo.

Ben Affleck next stars as Batman in the Justice League movie, out November 17, 2017.

Justice League: Flash & Batman Scene Description

Following the Justice League details and Gordon, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg scene description, now a scene involving Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne becomes known.

It’s already been said that the initial Flash costume will be made from spacesuit material held together by electrified wiring, and that by the end of Justice League, Waynetech will have created a new costume for the Flash.

This scene involves Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) returning to his apartment where he finds Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) already there. We also see in the ensuing dialogue that Barry makes a joke which references Gorilla Grodd.

Scene description:

Barry Allen’s apartment is filled with all sorts of homemade tech. Bruce is sitting in a Lazy Boy chair waiting for him and has the convenience store security footage from Lex’s files in Batman Vs. Superman.

JoBlo has the dialogue between Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne as follows:

BARRY ALLEN: “You must be looking for a person who looks exactly like me but is definitely not me. Somebody…I don’t know…hippie…long hair. A very attractive Jewish boy.”
Bruce shows him the camera footage which has Barry grabbing milk in the store.
BARRY ALLEN: “Well he drinks milk, and I don’t drink milk.”
BRUCE WAYNE: “I know you have abilities. I just don’t know what they are.”
BARRY ALLEN: “My special skills include viola, web design, fluent in sign-language, gorilla sign-language…”
BRUCE WAYNE: “Silicon-based sand coarse fabric. Abrasion-resistant. Heat-resistant.
BARRY ALLEN: “Uh yeah I do competitive ice dancing.”
BRUCE WAYNE: “This is used on the space shuttle to prevent it from burning up upon re-entry.”
BARRY ALLEN: “I ummm do…very competitive ice dancing. Look man I don’t know who you are but whoever you’re looking for, it’s not me.”
Bruce then quickly throws a Batarang at Barry as the environment goes into slo-motion except for him who easily catches the Batarang and makes the revelation that Bruce is Batman.
BARRY ALLEN: “You’re the Batman?”
BRUCE WAYNE: “So you’re fast.”
BARRY ALLEN: “That feels like an over-simplification.”
BRUCE WAYNE: “I’m putting together a team of people with special abilities. You see I think enemies are coming…”
BARRY ALLEN: “STOP! Right there. I’m in.”
BRUCE WAYNE: “You are. Just like that?”
BARRY ALLEN: “Yeah. Umm…I need friends.”
BRUCE WAYNE: “Great.”
BARRY ALLEN: looking at the Batarang “Can I keep this?”

“Justice League” has a November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. New Justice League Details, Plot & Logo Revealed

We get some insights to the Justice League movie as various sites are reporting on their set visits from London.

WB also released the Justice League movie logo (pictured above).

Details about the Justice League movie include (via joblo):

Update: A Justice League scene description featuring Gordon, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Cyborg becomes known.

Update #2: A Batman and Flash scene description is released.

Update #3: Official Justice League synopsis revealed.

It will be lighter in tone than Batman Vs. Superman. It will be more fun and will focus on the building of the Justice League uniting against a common threat.

Justice League is said to have a strong Jack Kirby influence, with the story revolving around the pursuit of three Mother Boxes (device that created Cyborg in Batman Vs. Superman): one from Earth, one from Atlantis, and the third from The Amazons.

Justice League takes place months after Batman Vs. Superman, with Bruce Wayne heavily affected by the death of Superman. Batman seeks to honor Superman’s death by building the Justice League. It’s further said Batman is not as dark as he was in Batman Vs. Superman, but Batman is now full of hope and centered on uniting the Justice League to fight against common threats while at the same time redeeming mankind.

Superman’s return will be featured later in the movie, with a large part of the film dealing with Batman uniting the Justice League.

As seen in the Batman Vs. Superman Lex Luthor deleted scene, Steppenwolf will be a key villain, but it sounds like there will be others. Steppenwolf has yet to be cast. Lex may be involved with the Steppenwolf and Darkseid story.

Darkseid will be an influence in the movie, with the parademons scene in the Batman Vs. Superman Nightmare scene reappearing. It’s unknown how much of Darkseid will be in the movie.

Ben Affleck confirmed he is directing the solo Batman movie, but they are still getting the script right.

Affleck is said to be executive producing Justice League to oversee Batman.

Batman’s suit will get upgrades, and a new and improved version of the Armored Batman suit will reappear at the end of Justice League.

Bruce Wayne will build a Waynetech carrier, The Flying Fox, for the Justice League. Batman will also have a new vehicle, The Nightcrawler, which was designed by his father, Thomas Wayne (said to play a large role in an underground tunnel battle).

Willem Dafoe’s role is revealed, which is a mentor to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman named Vulko. It’s said Vulko is more of an early Atlantean as he has gils, meaning the Atlanteans adapted to breathing underwater at some point.

Amber Heard is playing Mera, described as a warrior and a sorceress.

JK Simmon’s Gordon looks pretty much like you expect (mustache, etc.).

The Flash will be comic relieve in Justice League. The Ezra Miller Flash costume will be initially made from spacesuit material held together by electrified wire. Waynetech will design a new costume for The Flash, seen by the end of the movie.

Ray Fisher’s Cyborg costume will be all CGI.

Junkie XL is returning to score Justice League. Some of Hans Zimmer’s previous music will be used.

Zack Snyder teases when – and if – we see the return of Superman, his hair may be a little longer (a nod to the death and return of Superman story from the DC Comics).

Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe as the Atlantean, Vulko.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Wants To Play Flashpoint Batman

Even though Jeffrey Dean Morgan died in Batman Vs. Superman playing Thomas Wayne, it is possible we could see Morgan again some time down the line.

While it might be a stretch if it will ever make it to the movies, in the DC Comics Flashpoint series, Barry Allen went back in time and saves his mother which causes all sorts of things to change, with one being Thomas Wayne becoming the Batman.

A fan recorded video of Jeffrey Dean Morgan answering a fan question if he would be interested in playing the role.

“Man, I would love to play that Batman… It would be very cool,” Jeffrey Dean Morgan responded and added a while back he was asked if he would be interested in doing a Batman story with, “Are you f’n insane? Of course I’d be interested.”

Jeffrey Dean Morgan also says it will be interesting to see where the movies go and reiterated, “Man, I would love it. I would definitely love it.”

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT, TT GAMES AND THE LEGO® GROUP ANNOUNCE THE EXPANSION OF LEGO® DIMENSIONS

Even More Blockbuster Franchises, All-New Battle Arenas, Bigger Adventure Worlds and the Introduction of Story Packs Offer Gamers New Ways to Play in 2016 and Beyond.

Expansion Pack Assortment Will Add 16 Fan-Favourite Universes for More Mind-Blowing Mash-ups!

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO® Group today announced the expansion of LEGO® DIMENSIONS™, the LEGO® toy and videogame hybrid, with more blockbuster franchises and even bigger gameplay possibilities. New expansion packs broaden the complete selection to 30 of the world’s most popular entertainment brands allowing players to customise their experience by mixing and matching favourite characters and universes with full compatibility. Game features adding to the fun are all-new, four-player competitive Battle Arenas, a first for LEGO® videogames, as well as Story Packs, which provide deep, story-driven gameplay around the biggest theatrical releases and include a fresh LEGO® brick building experience.

LEGO® Dimensions™ packs based on 16 new entertainment properties will begin launching on September 30, 2016 with the Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission: Impossible Level Packs, Harry Potter and Adventure Time Team Packs, and The A-Team Fun Pack. Additional expansion packs based on other highly anticipated films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The LEGO® Batman Movie and wildly popular properties The Goonies, Sonic The Hedgehog, Teen Titans Go!, LEGO® City Undercover, Knight Rider, The Powerpuff Girls, Gremlins, Beetlejuice and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released in product waves stretching into summer of next year. All expansion packs provide players with continued compatibility to use everything from waves 1-9 interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game. And no new starter pack is required, as all new packs will simply enhance the LEGO® Dimensions™ Starter Pack game and work with the existing LEGO® Toy Pad. “We’ve built upon the existing LEGO® DIMENSIONS™ Starter Pack to expand the gameplay possibilities with entirely new LEGO® experiences that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “We can now provide players with even more customization and mash-up opportunities, and all are compatible with the existing game and packs. Battle Arenas also introduce a fun new way for friends and family to join the action together and battle as favorite characters, which is an exciting innovation for LEGO® videogames.”

“LEGO® DIMENSION™S is a significant part of our LEGO® videogames portfolio, and we are excited to offer fans many more iconic entertainment franchises combined with new, enhanced ways to play,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “TT Games continues to innovate and expand the game experience, which gives players breakthrough digital and physical gameplay with an amazing amount of world-class entertainment properties connected together.”

“We are excited to continue our partnership with TT Games and WBIE and bring even more characters to life through LEGO® DIMENSIONS™,” said Niels Jørgensen, Vice President, Digital Games for the LEGO® Group. “The videogame has allowed our fans to extend their LEGO® play experience in a whole new way and the new expansion packs will create even more play possibilities through exciting properties.”

All-new Battle Arenas will offer first-to-LEGO® videogames competitive split-screen local gameplay for up to four players. LEGO® minifigures included in the wave 6 through 9 expansion packs will come with special, golden Toy Tags which unlock a Battle Arena within the Free Play Adventure World of the corresponding entertainment brand. Each Battle Arena has four different gameplay modes and comes with its own traps, special powers and interactive environments that make every battle arena unique.

The Ghostbusters Story Pack, based on the upcoming film, will provide a complete movie-based gameplay experience with six puzzle-packed levels and new LEGO® Gateway bricks that allow players to build Zhu’s Chinese Restaurant atop the LEGO® Toy Pad. It will also come with a buildable Abby Yates LEGO® minifigure with Proton Blaster and 3-in-1 buildable Ecto-1 which can be rebuilt into the Ectozer and The PerfEcto. The pack unlocks “Rip,” a new Toy Pad mode allowing players to tear open an alternate universe. In this mirror world, players have the ability to solve puzzles and affect objects and other items in the primary universe. And like all gold-tag minifigures purchased, Abby Yates provides access to a new themed Adventure World with its own unique Battle Arena. The Ghostbusters Story Pack is just the first of this new exciting pack type, with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the highly anticipated theatrical release, still to come later this year. The LEGO® DIMENSIONS™ packs will be the exclusive construction toy offering this holiday for the exciting expansion of J.K Rowling’s Wizarding World.

Story Packs also expand the Starter Pack story with deeper gameplay. In the game’s storyline, the evil Lord Vortech has hidden portions of his powers around the LEGO® Multiverse. As players progress through Story Pack levels, they can unearth and tap into Keystone Runes to use Lord Vortech’s powers against him through all-new Toy Pad modes.

Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO® DIMENSIONS™ is now available for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the Wii U™ system.

Justice League Dark Animated Movie On The Way

It’s learned that following Batman: The Killing Joke, that WB is releasing an animated Justice League Dark movie.

What this means for the Guillermo Del Toro live-action movie of the same name is anybody’s guess, but more than likely it may mean it isn’t happening.

The info comes from the British Board Of Film Classification who has a rating for the Justice League Dark preview that is a part of the upcoming Batman: The Killing Joke Blu-Ray.

The Justice League Dark movie was supposed to feature some of DC’s more supernatural characters; however, I do believe Guillermo Del Toro did drop out of it, so it looks like they are going with an animated version instead.

Ben Affleck Says Batman Movie Will Feature Original Story

We now know a solo Batman movie is in the works written by Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns.

Back while promoting Batman Vs. Superman in March, Affleck was asked if he was directing a solo Batman movie, would he use the stories from Batman: The Killing Joke or Red Hood. Affleck replies he would do an original story, so it would be something new for the fans, but would borrow what he could from the comics.

Here’s the blurb via Cines Argentinos.

I think what I would do, what I probably would do, is in some ways what Zack did with this movie, which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it because I wouldn’t want the fans to already know the story and be familiar, but I would borrow, steal, great things that have been done before in the comics.

We can obviously guess Affleck was writing the Batman movie at the time of being questioned, so his answer probably sheds light on his and Geoff Johns’ direction for the movie, which is speculated to be titled The Batman.
