Amazing Spider-Man 3 Casting Call Goes Out

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18592:]]

Following leaked e-mails revealing that Spider-Man may be going back to Marvel Studios, a casting call has now gone out for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3.”

The casting call may actually lend credence to Spider-Man going back to Marvel as Sony previously didn’t have plans for a third Spider-Man movie before the Marvel talks.

Leaked e-mails revealed that if Spider-Man did go back to Marvel, Sony would want to fast-track another Spider-Man movie in order to follow Spider-Man’s appearance in Captain America 3.

The e-mails revealed that Marvel Studios wants Spider-Man for Captain America 3 as well as creative control, with Sony still holding distribution rights and the ability to make standalone Spider-Man movies.

The casting call does mention that “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” stars Andrew Garfield; however, that may not be much to go on as a separate casting call listed for Independence Day 2 has Will Smith as “rumored,” but Smith has been confirmed not to be returning.

The leaked e-mails did reveal Marvel wants a new actor in the role of Spider-Man, but internal communications between Sony execs did state Sony still wants Garfield.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 3” casting call also lists the city of Atlanta, Georgia, as the shooting location, which is where Pinewood Studios is located and where Marvel filmed the Ant-Man movie.

The information comes from Bill Beckman Casting, with the company described as: “Bill Beckman Casting has been casting for all major studios and production houses, including ABC, NBC, CBS, Warner Bros and Paramount…”

It has also been said Sony is holding a Spider-Man “Summit” this month to determine the character’s future with the company and possibly working with Marvel.

Sinister Six & Amazing Spider-Man 3 Get Release Dates

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:16452:]]

Putting an end to fears that the Spider-Man franchise is in trouble, Sony has given release dates for the Sinister Six movie as well as Amazing Spider-Man 3, right in time for Comic-Con.

Sinister Six has a November 11, 2016, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing.

Amazing Spider-Man 3 gets a 2018 release.

Sony also announced the Uncharted movie will be released on June 10, 2016, which was previously held by Amazing Spider-Man 3.

“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group prexy Doug Belgrad said in a statement. “June 10 is a great date for Uncharted. It’s just the right place for this exciting action-adventure film.”

Now Amazing Spider-Man 3 Loses Roberto Orci

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15793:]]Last month saw news that Amazing Spider-Man 3 is getting delayed, and now it’s reported that Roberto Orci is off the third film in the franchise.

Orci helped write Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Alex Kurtzman, but the long-time writing duo recently split to go their own separate ways.

Now Orci says he has no idea where the Spider-Man franchise is headed, and he tells IGN that he is “not officially involved in it.”

“I don’t know what their plans are for that franchise. I don’t ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I’ve read probably as much as anyone else. There’s a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom — there’s an idea of Spider-Man’s going to be one of these characters that’s part of our business. He’s such a popular character. Spider-Man’s not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined.”

As noted, plans for a Venom movie and Sinister Six are in the works, with Kurtzman supposed to be directing Venom.

It’s possible we might see either one of those before Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Maybe we’ll find out in a couple weeks at Comic-Con.

Now it’s being said Sony is delaying the release date to 2017.

No reason was mentioned.

Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield are expected back.

Worth a note: Last month saw Max Landis state Spider-Man is back with Marvel Studios, could this be related?

SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENT TO EXPAND THE SPIDER-MAN UNIVERSE ON SCREEN WITH ALL-STAR WRITING TEAM

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard to Collaborate with Marc Webb and Producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach on Developing the Universe and Expanding the Story in “The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” “Venom,” and “The Sinister Six”

CULVER CITY, Calif., December 12, 2013 – In a move to forge a new legacy in the story of Peter Parker on screen, Sony Pictures Entertainment, in association with Marvel Entertainment, is developing several new projects in the Spider-Man franchise, with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard to collaborate on overseeing the developing story over several films that will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of Production for the studio.

The five writers, along with the two producers and Marc Webb, have formed a franchise brain trust to expand the universe for the brand and to develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the films. Under the deals, the studio announced that Kurtzman & Orci & Pinkner are writing the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which the studio hopes Webb will return to direct; the film will go into production next fall for release on June 10, 2016. In addition, the team will build on the cinematic foundation laid by Webb, Arad, and Tolmach in the first two movies. They will expand the franchise as Kurtzman & Orci & Solomon will write the screenplay for Venom, which Kurtzman will direct; also, Goddard will write, with an eye to direct, The Sinister Six, focusing on the villains in the franchise. Hannah Minghella and Rachel O’Connor will oversee the development and production of these films for the studio.

In tapping these five writers, the studio and the producers are guiding the future of the franchise with the writer/producers who have each played significant and key roles in developing such highly successful franchises, films, and series as Star Trek, Transformers, “Alias,” “Fringe,” Men in Black, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, World War Z, “Lost,” Cloverfield, The Cabin in the Woods, and Marvel’s upcoming “Daredevil” series.

Commenting on the announcement, Belgrad said, “The Spider-Man film franchise is one of our studio’s greatest assets. We are thrilled with the creative team we have assembled to delve more deeply into the world that Marc, Avi and Matt have begun to explore in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. We believe that Marc, Alex, and Drew have uniquely exciting visions for how to expand the Spider-Man universe in each of these upcoming films.”

Arad and Tolmach added, “This collaboration was born out of the great experience we and Marc had working with Alex, Bob, and Jeff on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. With more than fifty years’ wealth of stories in the comic books to draw upon for inspiration, the Spider-Man universe is truly boundless; in addition, the Spider-Man comics have the greatest rogues gallery of any series, and to have the chance to explore that on film is truly thrilling. Until now, we have approached each film as a separate, self-contained entity, but with this move, we have the opportunity to grow the franchise by looking to the future as we develop a continuous arc for the story. That is what Alex, Bob, Jeff, Ed, and Drew will do in this unprecedented collaboration, and we’re excited about the directions they are taking the character and the world.”

The most successful franchise in the history of Columbia Pictures, Spider-Man is embraced all over the world. The four Spider-Man films to date have taken in over $3.2 billion worldwide. Spider-Man, Venom, The Sinister Six and other Spider-Man related characters are licensed to Sony by Marvel Entertainment.

Now Mary Jane Said To Be Recast For Amazing Spider-Man 3 With Shailene Woodley Out

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:8841:]]The news hit earlier today that Mary Jane, played by Shailene Woodley, has been cut from Amazing Spider-Man 2 with the actress citing the plot was to focus more on Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s characters.

Shailene Woodley stated she was bummed but said her scenes would be moved on to the next film, Amazing Spider-Man 3.

However, now a new report surfaces in that Mary Jane could be recast, as Shailene Woodley may be too busy working on other films.

TheWrap reports an individual familiar with the project mentioned that Mary Jane could be recast with Shailene Woodley out due to future commitments on sequels with her latest movie, Divergent.

Probably should be noted that the scenes Shailene Woodley shot for Amazing Spider-Man 2 would be a couple years old as well, with the actress currently 21-years-old, and did feature Emma Stone, who is rumored to meet her demise in line with the death of Gwen Stacy storyline from the comic books.

Woodley’s scenes and role in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 were small as it is, so more than likely it’s not a big loss for the movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters May 2nd, 2014 directed by Marc Webb starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Colm Feore, and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.
