Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Filming Next Month In NYC & Buffalo

It’s learned that Paramount will begin filming on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 next month in NYC and the hometown of Cosmic Book News – Buffalo, NY.

The NY Daily News reports TMNT 2 will bring  in $70 million to the local economies, with $63 million in NYC.

“New York City knows how to host blockbuster films,” said Mayor de Blasio. “We welcome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 to New York City, and look forward to the many jobs and tens of millions of jobs this will bring to our local economy.”

“We can only imagine what the filmmakers have in store,” added Cynthia Lopez, commissioner of the mayor’s office of media and entertainment.

Details regarding the actors and shooting locations are presently unknown.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 has a June 3, 2016 release directed by David Green, with Megan Fox and Will Arnett expected to reprise their roles; Michael Bay is back as producer along with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form; Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are writing the script; Bebop and Rocksteady have been confirmed for the sequel as well.

Last year’s TMNT made close to $500 million worldwide.

Dwayne Johnson Says Black Adam May Join Justice League

Putting the puzzle pieces together: 1) It is Dwayne Johnson, and 2) Black Adam is being said to be an anti-hero and not a straight-up villain; so it’s not a stretch to think that at some point down the line Johnson’s Black Adam could lean more toward the superhero side of things.

That is pretty much what IGN says to Dwayne Johnson in the following video when they ask if Johnson thinks Black Adam could eventually join the Justice League.

Dwayne Johnson agrees, but also implies Black Adam has to go a more darker route to get there as he offers, “At first, daddy’s got to go to work,” which also hints at Black Adam kicking some butt and clashing with other heroes.

As it stands right now, Shazam has a 2019 release, but Dwayne Johnson also previously said that the movie might get an earlier release.

Here is the text of Johnson’s response.

I think so, and I think you always want to leave that creatively open, that he could join the Justice League, and I think that’s the fun part of creating this character right now and everybody involved, from studio, from New Line, to Warner Bros. as well, to the writer, our producing partners — you you definitely want to engage in his heroic side.

But that has to be earned, and with a mythology and the mythology of Black Adam starting off as a slave – because when you start off as a slave – just inherently, there’s things in your DNA — that piss you off [lughs]. And that’s the bottom line, so I think we have to respect and pay homage to the true mythology, and then the heroic side will come down the line.

But I think it’s important, and I feel we all feel it’s important and I believe the fans at IGN feel it’s important, to make sure the homage is paid at the beginning because then you have a stronger foundation to stand on, and so he will become an anti-hero, but at first — daddy’s got to go to work.

Robert Downey Jr Teases Spider-Man With Action Figures

Robert Downey Jr. is back having fun on his Facebook page by posting more images of action figures.

Last time saw RDJ post the Iron Legion, and now it’s Spider-Man’s turn.

Marvel recently acquired the right to use Spider-Man in their films, with it speculated Spider-Man will first be appearing in Captain America: Civil War, of which will see Robert Downey Jr. back as Tony Stark and Iron Man.

The image features the Marvel Avengers characters having Spider-Man clean their equipment.

“Sorry Spidey, there’s a pecking order,” Downey Jr. posts.

Predator Confirmed For Mortal Kombat X

Following on the heels of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Predator will now be a DLC character for Mortal Kombat X.

The XBox Store revealed details for the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack DLC where Predator is mentioned.

Previously released details for the Kombat Pack DLC also included Jason Vorhees as a playable DLC in addition to mention of another special guest character, which we now know is the Predator.

Morena Baccarin Confirmed As Copycat In Deadpool

Following T.J. Miller confirming Weasel, now Morena Baccarin has confirmed her character in Deadpool.

Baccarin tweeted out a picture of her cast set chair, which reads “Vanessa.”

More than likely the character is the mutant shape-shiftet Vanessa Carlysle, aka Copycat in the Marvel Comics.

Copycat’s powers includes being able to duplicate another being down to the cellular level, which makes her able to duplicate another person’s superhuman powers abilities and even mental thoughts.

“Deadpool” has a February 12, 2016 release directed by Tim Miller starring Ryan Reynolds.

Watch: Dylan O’Brien Comment About Spider-Man

Dylan O’Brien happens to be a big favorite to play Spider-Man for the new Sony Marvel venture.

The actor, known for Maze Runner and Teen Wolf, previously stated he hadn’t heard about Spider-Man professionally, but was aware of the rumors.

Now while discussing Teen Wolf, O’Brien is asked about potentially playing Peter Parker again in the below video.

O’Brien is asked if he could play Spider-Man while working on Teen Wolf, with O’Brien implying it probably wouldn’t work out with filming.

“Funny enough, probably not,” O’Brien responded. “But who knows. I have not even heard about this job other than like in these little interviews.”

It’s then remarked it’s a funny way to find out about stuff, with O’Brien agreeing and sarcastically stating, “I guess I’m Spider-Man.”

Captain America 3 Filming Soon & Plot Released

Thanks to various casting calls, Captain America: Civil War looks to start filming around April 1st at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition, a short synopsis has been released revealing the events from The Avengers: Age Of Ultron directly impact Captain America 3 as well.

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.

Captain America: Civil War has a May 6, 2016 release directed by Joe and Anthony Russo starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Frank Grill as Crossboness, Daniel Bruhl as Baron von Zemo, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and it’s speculated the new Spider-Man will debut.

Crash Ryan Movie Being Developed

Back in the 1980s, Marvel Comics published creator-owned comics through the Epic Comics brand, and now it’s learned a Crash Ryan movie is in development.

Variety reports David Cowper, who recently co-wrote an adaptation of Road Dawgs with S.E. Hinton for Tim Zinnemann, has been tapped to co-write Crash Ryan with Heppe. 

The series creator, Ron Harris, also published a four-part Crash Ryan story for Dark Horse Comics and offered: “Crash Ryan is the product of a mishmash of influences: my childhood spent on Navy air bases; the old flying movies and Masked Villain serials I loved on late night TV, and especially my fascination with predictions of future life made in the 1930s.”

Crash Ryan takes place in an alternate version of the year 1935 in a world of super airplanes and giant flying airports. Crash Ryan is a pilot caught up in the battle between the heroic United Airmen and the forces of evil, led by a masked world conqueror who calls himself “the Doom.”

It’s reported Heppe and Harris have written a 50-page outline,“Crash Ryan and the Eyes of Lemuria,” which reinvents the story as an earthbound, steampunk-inspired fusion of Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

“It’s an incredible canvas, but what attracted me was the redemption story: a man who can’t save himself being tasked with saving the world,” Heppe said.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Star In Fraggle Rock Movie

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star in a new live-action Fraggle Rock movie as well as produce for for New Regency, The Henson Co. and Lisa Henson. 

Variety reported the news that Fraggle Rock is finally coming to fruition after being in development for a decade.

“The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street,’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock,’” Gordon-Levitt said. “Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

Fraggle Rock debuted in 1983 and aired on HBO for five seasons centering on the adventures of the cave-dwelling creatures called Fraggles featuring characters such as Doc, Sprocket the Dog, Gobo Fraggle, Wembley Fraggle, Boober Fraggle, Mokey Fraggle, Red Fraggle, and Uncle Traveling Matt in addition to the Doozers, the giant Gorgs and the all-knowing Marjory the Trash Heap.

It’s confirmed that T.J. Miller will be playing Weasel in the Deadpool movie.

Miller posted a series of tweets confirming the character.

Weasel, in the Marvel Comics, supplies Deadpool with weapons, tech and intel and was actually a classmate of Peter Parker’s.

No Dredd 2 Says Alex Garland

Though producer Adi Shankar recently recommended Dwayne Johnson for the sequel to Dredd, now writer Alex Garland says Dredd 2 isn’t happening.

io9 caught up with Garland at a round-table interview for Ex Machina, where Garland offered the following disappointing news.

There isn’t, as far as I can tell, going to be a Dredd sequel. The basic mechanics of film financing say that if you make a film that loses a ton of money, you’re not going to get a sequel. And that’s basically what happened.

And I understand and appreciate the support the film has had, and the campaigns that have existed for it, and it’s really genuinely gratifying — I love it in all respects except one, which is when I hear about people buying copies of the DVD in order to boost sales and to change the figures. And what I want to say to them is, “Don’t do that. Keep your money.” Because the people that are making the decisions are much colder and harder than that. And the graphs they’re looking at are not really going to be sufficiently dented by that.

So the support for the film is truly appreciated. But if there is going to be a sequel, it’s not going to be me and the team of people who worked on the previous film, it’s going to be another bunch of people. And good luck to them, and I hope it happens. I really do. I hope they do a better job than we did.

Per Garland’s comments about the first film not making money, Shankar’s video on Dredd 2 stated the first film suffered from poor international sales, and that movies get made by profit exceeding costs.

Dredd was released in 2012 starring Karl Urban.

Michael Biehn Confirms Return For Neill Blomkamp Alien

It’s confirmed Michael Biehn will be reprising as Hicks for the new Neill Blomkamp Alien film.

The actor confirmed the news on Instagram when responding to a fan’s question about attending the Sheffield Comic-Con.

Previously released concept art featured both Michael Biehn and Sigourney Weaver, which helped to get the movie greenlit by Fox.

No specific plot details have been made known, but Blomkamp has stated his new Alien movie will be the “genetic sibling of Aliens,” and at the same time, won’t undo the events from the two previous Alien movies.

The untitled Alien movie is due for release in 2017.

Watch Hulk Smash In Avengers 2 Clip

The official Avengers twitter tweeted out a snippet of footage from the movie featuring the Hulks smashing the Ultron drones.

As we get closer to the release of the movie expect more clips, spots, another trailer and interviews with the cast.
