We get further insights as to what Marvel is doing with the retooling of the Daredevil: Born Again series.
Recall, my insiders first filled me in over the Summer about Daredevil: Born Again getting an overhaul where I was told they were making it more like the Netflix series, which was then confirmed months later by the trades in October.
Well, again, that is exactly what is happening.
Marvel Netflix now in MCU continuity
Jeff Sneider reports Marvel is bringing back Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson as their respective characters, Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, from the Netflix show.
Worth a mention is that the Marvel Netflix shows are also now shown a part of the MCU continuity on Disney+. MCU executive producer Brad Winderbaum also recently said he considers the Netflix Marvel characters canon to the MCU.
According to the reports about the original version of Daredevil: Born Again, the series was only going to feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher.
Note: Spoilers follow.
What the leaks say:
There have been rumors that the series may have brought back Elden Henson as Foggy but only to have been killed off. Either they were going to show Foggy getting killed in the first episode or the series simply would have alluded to it.
So according to the leaks, the original plan for Daredevil: Born Again was to have Foggy get killed which caused Matt Murdock to quite being Daredevil for a year.
According to what Jeff Sneider is reporting with both Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson returning, that original part of the story is getting nixed and the character/s aren’t getting killed off but will continue on in the MCU.
Thanks to the post-credit scene in the new Echo series, we also known that apparently the plan is still in place for Kingpin to be involved in an election in Daredevil: Born Again.
It seems like the entire series isn’t getting rebooted from the ground up, but that certain elements are getting removed while other parts of the storyline will stick.
