Marvel’s Kingpin is about to get even more brutal.
In a new interview, Vincent D’Onofrio offered a candid tease about where Wilson Fisk is headed in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, and it sounds like the show is going darker.
Speaking about how the character has evolved since the Netflix years, D’Onofrio said Fisk has settled in at the top and it has changed him, in subtle ways and extreme ones.
The most extreme? According to the actor, Kingpin is “killing more than he ever killed before.”
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is currently filming, with Marvel pressing ahead after the series went 0-for-17 on Nielsen across its first two seasons.

Kingpin’s Rising Body Count
D’Onofrio framed the change as a man who has been sitting at the peak of his power for a while and is now living like it.
That comfort, the actor explained, has made Fisk more lethal than ever, whether he is doing the killing with his own hands or ordering it done.
And it comes at a cost: D’Onofrio said the escalating body count taints not just Fisk, but Vanessa alongside him.
It is a notable tease given where Season 2 left the character, and it suggests the power couple’s corruption will be a central thread when the new episodes arrive.

A Darker, More Intense Daredevil: Born Again Season 3
D’Onofrio also spoke broadly about the tone of Season 3, and he did not undersell it.
The actor described a new challenge ahead and a team working hard on something intense, promising plenty of action alongside heavy emotional journeys.
He added that the creative team is trying to make Season 3 different from the first two seasons while keeping it unmistakably Daredevil.
Notably, when Reel Rejects joked that they had not planned to ask about Season 3, D’Onofrio confirmed the team is well into production, effectively hyping the season himself before realizing he had said as much.
He’s not the only one teasing big things: the show’s action director, Philip Silvera, says fans are “going to be very surprised” by Season 3.

D’Onofrio Confirms The Daredevil: Born Again Retool
The interview also saw D’Onofrio speak openly about the show’s well-documented creative overhaul, confirming on the record what we exclusively reported about Daredevil: Born Again being retooled.
According to the actor, he, Charlie Cox, and a few of the producers wanted to make a kick-ass Daredevil show, but eventually realized the writers they were working with did not have that in mind.
The group of creatives took it to Marvel’s leadership, who he says backed them completely and gave them total freedom, with the studio’s only note being to “make it better.”
It is a striking confirmation from the show’s co-lead, lining up cleanly with the reporting that the original version of the series was scrapped and rebuilt under showrunner Dario Scardapane.

The Voice From “A Broken Place”
D’Onofrio went deep on the psychology of the character as well, including the origin of Kingpin’s distinctive voice.
The actor explained that he did not want to use his own voice, so he sat in his office one day riffing on emotional events from his own life until something clicked.
What emerged came from an emotional, broken place, a quality he says still defines how Fisk speaks, even as the character has grown more articulate and kingly over the years.
