Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has missed Nielsen’s streaming originals chart again, and this time, Marvel had two new episodes in play.
Nielsen released its Top 10 Original Series chart for the week of March 30-April 5, and Daredevil: Born Again is nowhere to be found.
That follows the previous week, when the Season 2 premiere also failed to chart after Episode 1 debuted March 24 on Disney+.
Daredevil: Born Again Misses Nielsen Again
For the week of March 30-April 5, Nielsen’s originals chart is topped by HBO Max’s The Pitt with 1.163 billion minutes watched.
Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum U.S. came in second with 865 million minutes, followed by Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen with 821 million minutes.
At the bottom of the chart is Netflix’s One Piece with 427 million minutes watched.
That means both of the new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 came in below 427 million minutes for the week.
That is not a good sign, especially since Disney+ released two episodes during the frame. Episodes 2 and 3 both premiered March 31, giving the show more new content to drive viewing.
It still did not chart.
Two Episodes Did Not Move The Needle
The miss is arguably worse than the premiere week.
One episode failing to chart can be explained away. Maybe fans waited. Maybe the release window was short. Maybe viewers planned to catch up later.
But the second Nielsen frame included two new episodes, and the show still failed to crack the Top 10. Nielsen also measures data for all available episodes, including the premiere and any Season 1 episodes, yet the show still failed to chart.
That suggests Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is not generating the kind of streaming activity Marvel likely wanted from one of its biggest Disney+ brands.
The bottom title on the chart had 427 million minutes watched, so Daredevil came in below that mark despite having three total Season 2 episodes available by the end of the week.
Episodes two and three also average out to only 213.5 million minutes per episode for the week, which, on a per-episode basis, don’t even come close to the bottom of the Nielsen charts (note: Disney+ automatically has Nielsen tracking turned on in accounts and is the go-to industry standard for viewership ratings).
Luminate Also Showed A Big Drop
The Nielsen misses follow Luminate’s own ratings report, which showed Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 down hard compared to Season 1.
According to the Luminate figures, Season 2 is down about 46% in season views and nearly 55% in both hours watched and minutes watched.
In other words, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 appears to have lost roughly half its audience.
What Happened?
As I previously went over, the drop is an easy read: many fans likely were not happy with Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 and decided not to come back for Season 2.
We can also add that shows like She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion, and Echo sent fans packing.
