Ben Affleck Confirms Batman Films In Spring

Ben Affleck’s Batman movie will film this Spring.

While speaking with Variety about his latest movie, Live By Night, Ben Affleck talked about Batman, with it also noted he will be directing.

“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together,” Affleck said. “We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”

Ben Affleck also mentioned he has all the respect in the world for the previous Batman movies and creators.

“I respect all of those [Batman] movies,” Affleck said. “Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me.”

Joe Manganiello will also star in the Batman movie as the one-eyed assassin Deathstroke.

“When I met Ben we sat down and we talked about, you know, the role. We talked about the movie,” Manganiello said in a previous interview. “His take is a fresh take but I think the audience is going to be surprised. Because it’s a road that no one’s really gone down that’s completely integral to, you know, who Batman is. And I think it’s gonna be refreshing but at the same time completely familiar. But it’s going to take this franchise in a direction that I think A LOT of people are going to be really happy about.”

In addition to Ben Affleck and Joe Manganiello, the new Batman movie will feature Jeremy Irons as Alfred.

“Ben’s going to make a Batman film. He promises me there’s going to be a bit more of Alfred in that,” Irons said back in October.

WB has yet to announce a released date for the Batman.

Ben Affleck will next appear as Batman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, out November 17, 2017.

Warner Bros. also announced a Suicide Squad spinoff, Gotham City Sirens, and plans for Suicide Squad 2 and a Deadshot spinoff.
