Avengers: Eternity Wars Replacing Kang Dynasty?

Avengers: Kang Dynasty Axed Possibly For Avengers: Eternity Wars?

It’s looking likely that Marvel is going to move away from Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Jonathan Majors as the next MCU villain.

A possibility could include that Kevin Feige and Marvel may instead may switch course to an Avengers: Eternity Wars movie or something else entirely.

A couple of tidbits have recently come out that support Avengers: Kangy Dynasty may have been canceled at Marvel.

Avengers: Kangy Dynasty canceled?

Following the failure of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it was reported writer Jeff Loveness departed Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

Then recently saw YouTuber Grace Randolph offer up she hasn’t heard much about Avengers: Kang Dynasty and suggested it could be canceled.

To add to all that are the legal problems with Jonathan Majors, where recently it has been said Majors could be recast or Marvel might swap Kang out in favor of Doctor Doom.

Now the writer on that MCU book says it is confirmed that Jeff Loveness is no longer writing Avengers: Kang Dynasty and she also says Marvel is moving away from it.

“I heard from someone recently…the screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who wrote Quantumania, was supposed to write The Kang Dynasty…anyway, it’s confirmed. I had it confirmed to me he’s no longer working for Marvel,” Johanna Robinson revealed on a podcast. “I asked the person why, and they said the reason why is he was all wrapped up in this Kang storyline and they are likely going to be moving away from that.”

Avengers: Secret Wars

Now what is Marvel going to do?

So if Kang Dynasty is getting ditched, what is Marvel going to do?

Well, Kevin Feige could very well simply move up Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s already said Deadpool 3 is a direct lead into Secret Wars so that could work.

However, I believe Kang Dynasty was supposed to be the “Infinity War” to Secret Wars. Thanos won in Infinity War and the heroes lost. Likely, Kang was going to be the victor in Kang Dynasty — he’s already lost three times in the MCU, so you have to figure he has to win at some point. So Kang winning and defeating the heroes in Kang Dynasty would have led to an all-out Multiversal War (per Loki) in Secret Wars.

But if they are moving away from Kang, who will take his place?

They might need another movie to replace Kang Dynasty between Deadpool 3 and Avengers: Secret Wars to explain the real MCU villain.

Eagle-eyed fans on Reddit spotted Trademarks made by Marvel Studios which includes a number of possible titles.

Is Marvel going with Avengers: Eternity Wars?

“Avengers: Eternity Wars” is listed, which happens to be a reference to the comic of the same name involving The Ultimates, Secret Empire, Galactus, Ego, The Maker, The High Evolutionary, and Dark Celestials.

The trademark also first leaked back in July of 2022 via legal filings from the UK; YouTuber The Den of Nerds went over it.

Here is the description of the comic:

SECRET EMPIRE wreaks havoc on the Ultimates! As Steve Rogers makes his move, the team finds itself on the wrong side of his plans. With an existential threat in control of Earth, Galactus might be the planet’s last hope — but the Lifebringer has problems of his own! He’s facing the ultimate battle with his oldest enemy: Ego, the Living Planet! Meanwhile, the Eternity War ramps up as the Maker and the High Evolutionary join forces! They have a plan for the Multiverse — but whose side are they truly on? And as things get ever more cosmic, Galactus gathers his forces against the Dark Celestials for the final battle! Can Eternity withstand the might of the First Firmament, or does the embodiment of everything need help…from Outside? Plus: The Ultimates meet — the Ultimates?! Collecting ULTIMATES 2 (2016) #7-9 and #100.

If we put it all together:

The Ultimates: The MCU got its start in part based on The Ultimates, the line of comic books from Marvel which is a more modern retelling of the characters.

Secret Empire: It has been rumored Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson are supposed to return in a series called Nomad. The series is said to follow Captain America becoming Nomad after finding out that the President of the United States is part of the villainous Secret Empire. Interestingly enough, the trademarks reveal that Marvel has decided not to trademark Nomad. So what could be happening is that Marvel decided to ditch Nomad and combine the elements with something else.

Galactus: rumored for the Fantastic Four movie.

The Maker: The Ultimates version of Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards who becomes a supervillain. Obviously, Reed will be a part of the Fantastic Four movie, and it’s already said he’s a bad guy so….

Ego: Appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

The High Evolutionary: Appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

The Dark Celestials: Celestials appeared in Eternals.

It should be said Marvel Studios won’t be doing a straight adaptation of Eternity War from the comics, but from above we can see how easily it could be adapted by the MCU. Shang-Chi can even easily be thrown in there and even Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel with their artifacts connected, as well as the Eternals.

MCU Phase 4 and Phase 5 haven’t been as cohesive as Phases 1-3 and need something that will bring everything together. Deadpool 3 is more about the Fox Marvel Universe, so again, Feige and Marvel likely need another “bigger” movie that will lead into Secret Wars, similar to Infinity War leading to Endgame. Maybe Avengers: Eternity Wars is it (and I don’t see them continuing the Multiverse stuff after Secret Wars)? Or maybe they will push up Secret Wars and then have Eternity Wars.
